Actually I'm in a similar situation IRL. The brother of my fianc earlier this year had a birthday dinner earlier in the year, and prior to this had broken up with a girlfriend he'd been seeing for about a year. He then contacted us all before the dinner because it turns out he had also been seeing another girl at the same time for around a year, and we had to maintain the story he was telling her.

I would've liked to tell her but felt it wasn't my place and would turn her family against me, and my fianc is very loyal to her family as well, even though she thinks it's horrible. He's an asshole who does this kind of thing regularly though and I feel really bad for this girl

Just finished watching through since I don't have a PS4. I really liked this, and the way it was executed just made the tragedy of it all that much more powerful.

I don't understand why people point to this game and say Neil Druckmann hated Joel. The game really deepened the character and the relationship between him and Ellie; if you loved him in the first one, this just has more of what made him so relatable. I'm not ashamed to say I teared up during the flashback at the museum

Noah Caldwell sums it up better than I can - I wish I could find the exact time code. But basically you need to be all in on Ellie and her revenge, without further context or deeper introspection, just like she is. Playing as Abby earlier than you do would ruin that. Then, you play as Abby and youre all in on her even though you probably hate her. Its more challenging to the player emotionally, but ultimately I think that makes for a deeper, more rewarding story.

Exactly. It's a much more original take and I think to structure it more conventionally you would definitely miss some of the beats and lessen the impact.

I've always liked Squires tbh. Some pretentious people treat them like they're First Act Walmart guitars but the build quality is leagues better. My first guitar ever was some anniversary Squire guitar and I still jam with it!

It really depends on the type of Squier. I have a vintage modified tele and used to have a VM Strat as well, both were really solid guitars

But yeah, I don't think people eat Beyond Burgers and the like for their health benefits, ditto for fast food etc. Someone who's eating plant-based for their health will generally already be avoiding overly processed foods, though of course there are always exceptions. Thus, I don't think you can expect the trend to be going away anytime soon, topic title isn't debunking anything.

Kinda bad that your take out of this is that cheaters wins when it goes in depth on how cheaters win on really few specific scenarios and its generally better to be more trustful.

I don't think it was saying either, as who succeeds is determined by the environment. So saying it's generally better to be trustworthy assumes our general environment is one in which trust can thrive, which also had very specific variables

I really enjoyed it, though it's been a while since I've played

The world was really well crafted and the combat system system was a lot of fun with all the different styles you could experiment with. It's maybe a bit short from what I remember but in any case still prime Bioware

This all sounds like a lot of fun. I've wanted to get into DnD and even bought the 5E book some years back but haven't had the opportunity to play it. Something like this sounds like a relatively simple way to get started playing though, so maybe I should suggest it to my girlfriend as well haha

Have you thought about rolling a character yourself and playing with her in that way as well? Or will you purely be a DM? I feel like it might be fun to do the former in theory for the co-operative aspect, but not sure how feasible it really is

But this seems irrational, as you say. I mean art is something that you'll always relate to in differently with accumulated experience. What you heard in a song as a kid can be quite different from what you're hearing now and what you would hear maybe 10 years from now. In that sense there's no question that the feelings that song gives you are appropriate for where you are now.

If you just heard the song you mention without seeing the artist how different do you think it might have felt? I guess that should be the goal - to value things in an intrinsic sense again, but I don't know enough to say how one can deprogram themselves of these kinds of thoughts

I think so too. It would seem you can be subject to a sort of social determinism the more ties you have, but on the other hand I wonder if it's irrelevant. A hermit in the woods might not be subject to herd forces but would now have a new set of forces and limitations

I certainly wasn't choosing them because if I was, I'd have gone left every time.

I think I go the other way on this. If you go left every time you're doing so because your brain is generating a reason for doing so based upon initial biological constraints and its development before you were even fully aware of your consciousness - could the thoughts you generated at the crossroads have ever been anything else?

I also did SS a decade plus ago and thought it was fine but I do think the beginner routine I did this decade was better in every way.

Yeah, I liked it (and thought I looked good on it >_>) but it's a bit long in the tooth.

I like a lot of the fundamental ideas though and think squats and DLs will always be beneficial for their effect on the CNS and growth hormone levels, co-ordination etc., but these days I'm more likely to recommend something like Greyskull LP to a beginner
