Cold Days soilers:

The closest I can think of is shredding that security dude's leg, and even Harry isn't certain that was cruelty so much as just Getting The Job Done. They needed a distraction, he distracted, and everyone lived. Something tells me Sith's usual idea of distraction is "nobody responds to the alarm if there's nobody alive to respond."

I think Harry is pretty clearly wrong in this case, I mean he was told not to cause significant bodily harm, shredding an dude's leg seems like more than going by the letter of the order.

But all in all I just don't think agreement is something Nemesis needs. It gets a chance, it takes you.

If this is the case, why hasn't it infected everyone? What's the limit on how quickly it can spread. They have to agree in part, in my opinion is a better explanation for why it hasn't infected everyone. If this is the case it needs to understand what it can offer them to get them to agree to the corruption, furthermore it mirrors really well with the "you have to agree to be purified". Why does everyone infected seem to love doing what it wants? The most obvious reason to me is that they have no mind of their own, but if that is the case, how can people agree to be purified.

Well, of course he's a jackass about following orders to the letter. He's a Fae. His opinion of Harry doesn't affect his loyalty to Mab. Again, trying to take an order from Harry gets him closer to shaking off Nemesis than anyone we've ever seen.

There's a difference between sticking to the letter of the order, and actively being malicious about it. It doesn't effect his loyalty (unless he agreed to corruption), but it shows he seems to oppose her decision, it's hardly a jump to suspect he could go to opposing her will. Lea get further to shaken off Nemesis than Cait Sith. Hell there aren't many mayor characters that have been corrupted. He gets close than Aurora and Maeve, but that isn't saying much.

Ain't a goddamn chance Cait Sith would have willingly betrayed Winter. Dude almost fought his way back from Nemesis on the boat at the end of Cold Days, duty is his lifeblood.

I'm not so about that. He seems to actively goes out to obey Dresden's orders in the most malicious way possible. He continuously states how much he hates working for Dresden, and to me at least seems to only be willing to work fore Dresden as he is obliged to.

First one makes some sense though I'd wonder how and why she was infected and not say Lara Raith or someone that could replace her

I mean there have been multiple Coup attempts in the White Court, Nemesis has attempt to replace Lara. As to why it hasn't infected Lara, I suspect you have to agree to me infected, at least in part, which I think is why Maeve and Lea had to agree to be purged of Nemesis.

Any theories on, Peace Talks spoilers again, what Thomas was trying to say to Harry? I don't think it was actually about Justine, that's just too easy. But I can't think of anything that would fit.

A common theory on the subreddit (which I don't quite agree with but can understand) is that Thomas was trying to warn Harry that he shouldn't trust Justine, the idea being that she has been infected by nemisis.

I don't have any particular ideas on the second theory, other than it maybe being Lord Raith, who basically discovered that Malcolm was the dude who "stole" his girlfriend. Lord Raith strikes me as the kind of guy who would kill someone for that.

Id rank PT pretty low just because its the first half of a book.

I have zero issues with a book being only part of a specific story as long as I know that in advance and don't have to wait an unknown amount of time for the next one. I don't have to know the exact date, something like between one year and two is fine, if they stick to anyway.

One issue I do have with Peace Talks is all the talk about the risk Harry is taking from Mab and the Svartalf if he gets caught. Like they say neither of them will care if he's repaying the debt to Winter, but almost everything we have seen about them says otherwise. Too-toot and the Za guards kills Aurora yet Titania doesn't hold it against them because they did on Harry's orders. In the short story Bombshells the Svartalf let a bunch of Fomor servants go unharmed specifically as they are essiantally just tools to the Fomor. (Peace Talks spoilers again) Surely given Harry's position as the Winter Knight, Mabs debt to the White Court and her orders to Harry he woul also just count as tool to the Svartalf and Mab. Mab specifically told Harry that if Lara wants to use a favour to have Harry kill someone, he should kill them, which given the event almost certainly would be a violation of the Accords. Although I kinda doubt Marcone would accept it.

Now for a more general thoughts on Peace Talks. Do you think that someone will stab Harry in the back? I think the talk of it could have been a misdirect for punching him in the face. If someone does stab him in the back, I think Carlos Ramirez is fairly likely, he seems to be the person on the White Council closest to Harry, and I think Molly's thing with him in Cold Case could be the straw that broke his back. Justine is a common guess on the Dresden Files subreddit, but given that Goodman Gray is keeping an eye on her I'm not sure she'd be meaningful. Martha Liberty is another person I think it could be, as a senior councilwoman she should have the power to threaten him, and she has a lot of mentions but no real importance.

Yeah Drizztl, Day Off was great, I'm not sure I'd rank it as the best though, it's pretty tough to place most of them.

Another thought on Peace Talks. I think Thomas was set up by someone in the White Court trying a Coup. If Lara lets him get killed it makes her look bad, if she fails in an attempt to rescue her it makes her look even worse.

Cold Case is the book about Molly's new job she gets in Cold days.

Also one short story that isn't in Brief cases that you might want to read between Skin Game and Peace talks is Monsters it's in Parallel Worlds: The Heroes Within.

I just finished reading Peace talks. I agree that it's absolutely incredible. Probably the best in the series. I don't even mind that it ends with essentially a major cliffhanger.

DrizztLink posted...
Another Peace Talks spoiler.

Dunno if anyone has talked about it, but we all agree that it's like 95% that Mab is Morgana? Like, Arthur and Merlin and Morgana.

Still makes me think Merlin is in Demonreach, and apparently people sharing a similar punishment can communicate. So Thomas can have some chats with Merlin.

I agree with both of these. In Skin game (very mild spoilers I guess) there's a random British prisoner and I assume that's Merlin, the character seemed too random to be nobody and Merlin seems like the only major enough British character to be there.

I have a strong suspicion that Mac is the second dragon that has signed the accords. Peace Talks has lots of mention of the starting between Odin and Ferrovax, but no mention was made of the second dragon. Given that Mac is "out" I think that him being the dragon would justify the lack of any mention of him. I suspected the last Titan could be the dragon when they told Ferrovax to introduce them, but obviously not afterwards.

I tapped out in the first one. They come highly recommended so I'm probably going to take another crack at them whenever the library opens again.

As others have said the first two are dog shit. I wouldn't even bother reading a recap of them, the books do a good enough job of explaining any important details that happened in previous books. The third book "Grave Peril", and the seventh book "Dead Beat" are both better places to start then the first two. If you really get into the series go back and read the ones you missed. If you don't like either Grave Peril or Dead Beat you probably won't like the series.

In Small Favours, Mab thinks it's a Denarian, and Harry suspects it was Thorned Namshiel. I don't think it was confirmed.

The one thing that particularly sticks in my craw is his threat to 'retroactively' punish people for it. Someone more learned might need to correct me on the finer points, but I'm pretty sure ex post facto law is one of the first things expressly addressed and forbidden in the Constitution; it's something that our Founding Fathers unilaterally agreed upon at both state and federal level, probably because (shockingly) it's a baby-dick tyrant move.

He isn't passing an ex post factor law. He is merely "ordering" (technical he is given them permission instead or ordering) one already in place get enforced. So it doesn't apply.

Also I'm pretty sure this only applies to federal property as well.

It doesn't, it applies to all areas under the jurisdiction of the Federal government, which due to the way dual sovereignty works, means all of the US.

Even McDonalds now has fresh beef from what Ive heard. Wendys beef is good. Same with In n Out and Whataburger.

Using "fresh beef" (or good quality beef)to mean healthy is pretty low standard for healthy.
