Wait so do you have a choice with having kids in this game? Or is it automatic. Can I save scum to put it off indefinitely?

Nothing special.

There is a book on your shelf for the HG, and it lists all the cooking items, giving her enough gives you useful stuff.

https://fogu.com/sos3/activities/cooking.html

* 10 cooked meals: a Moonstone
* 25 cooked meals: a Sandrose
* 50 cooked meals: a Pink Diamond
* 75 cooked meals: an Alexandrite
* 100 cooked meals: a piece of Gold Lumber
* 108 cooked meals: a Mythic Orb

Ooo, alrighty, looks like I got some cooking to do. I'm real glad I remembered Tuesdays are recipe day, and I've been loving up on Lillian to get some of her recipes and already got one or two (so what if she's Popuri's mom? A guy can schmooze who he wants)

Also don't forget to give HG one of each cooked dish.

Is this in reference to trying to marry her or is there another benefit to it? Like a truth stone or goddess stone? I looked up her requirements for marriage and I do not think I'm gonna be able to achieve such a thing without letting my beloved Popuri fall into the hands of that blasted Kai. I just got my axe to level 2 finally so I can get enough wood to upgrade my damn house and get the kitchen.

Popuri! Also keep giving the HG gifts. The mine elevator takes 100 gifts.

Popuri was my main bae in 64 and Back to Nature, it only makes sense to keep it going here.

And yeah like an above user I just give her an egg per day. Same with Popuri, actually!

Almost done with Spring year 1, got a bunch of chickens, upgrade my hammer once and watering can twice, bought a cow, upgraded my bag and need to upgrade my dang axe so I can farm wood more to upgrade my house.

Game seems a lot easier than I remember (mainly upgrading gear, I always thought you needed to wait till Winter for the mines but that might have been 64) but then again it's been 20+ years of me Harvest Moon'ing so I ain't complaining. I wish the characters emoted expressions a bit better but I don't mind the graphics at all. They are pretty adorable.

And it traumatizes the **** out of her

This is the complete and utter difference between Ellie and Abby. Abby almost gleefully slices a pregnant woman's throat. Abby enjoys torture. Abby is a top member of WLF because she is so effective at brutality. Abby grows a little bit in the most generic of fashion (my enemy is actually my friend! Whoa!) and the writing is extraordinarily heavy handed. You BARELY hear her have any remorse for what she did to Joel, only alluding that she feels a weight on her shoulders and she wasn't sleeping right. Ellie, on the other hand, kills all of her friends (except Nora, who, fuck her) out of complete self defense. Ellie feels extremely bad about Nora. When she finds out Mel is pregnant she buckles over. The ending of her going back for revenge round 2 then abandoning it at the moment of truth is just....ugh what a stupid game.

Abby sucks. Period. She just turns into a microcosm of Joel and Ellie when her and Lev go on their adventure. That's the best thing I can say about that and even then it is just boring and not interesting. The game fails completely and utterly in trying to force empathy.

Mother in law: insane with OCD and a real pain in the ass. Can flip on a dime and become a real nasty woman. Have had to remove her from my apartment once before.

Father in law: an idiot who will be dying in the next few years. Guy doesn't take care of himself, has diabetes, and got cirrhosis a few years ago, culminating in many hospital visits (cause he refuses to be healthy) and finally this year a liver transplant. Since then, he's gone back to the hospital two more times because he still refuses to be healthy (asking us to bring him a whopper and fries when we visit because why eat healthy and live?), all the while caring more about anything other than his health. Mostly money and making more of it which is the only thing he cares about in life.

They are also divorced as they both cheated on each other. However, it was fine when the dad was getting hookers in Costa Rica for years (he just considered it a business transaction that didn't mean anything), but once he found out his wife cheated he immediately filed for divorce and made everyone's life hell. This happened this past few months (they are both 60+)

Never thought I would marry someone with a crazier family than mine.

Well with DS3, I never grinded. I became overleveled just because I like exploring and finding all the items.

Are all items from monster drops in MHW?

Yes all items and upgrades aside from base line weapons and generic armors are all crafted from previous versions (weapons) or entirely new (armor), though some things require gathered materials like ores. But DS3 has the point of exploration and fun boss fights. Monster Hunter's whole deal is right there in the title: you hunt monsters. Big ones. A lot. There's some gathering and roaming the large maps but overall the goals are just kill that big thing for items to make better gear to kill the next harder thing to get better gear, etc. etc.

It's really not as bad as it seems, especially since World has been updated with tons of QOL changes from the older styles.

You can basically play base MHW without grinding because the Guardian/Defender weapons and armor.

A lot of it won't pose any challenge to you though and you'll probably suck when you hit late base game and Iceborne.

But you won't have you grind.

But MHW revolves around the grind but it is a very different sort of grind. Combat against any monster you need to grind against is never mindless and requires you to actively play.

With Prints and Investigations even rare monster drops are pretty easy to get. The real grind truly is for high-end decorations and those really don't matter until endgame. You could easy drop 100 hours into MHW and never worry about the worst of the grind.

Yep this. They really made the grind much easier and bearable in World. Still will have to fight a monster a few times, but killing them 3 - 4 times for an item you need is waaaaaaay better than the 20+ times I had to fight Silver Rathalos for plates. With prints and the increase in rewards vouchers (can't remember the name) the game is way better than the older ones and is definitely worth the time.

It's got a lot of grinding but not nearly as much as the older games. A lot of the grind comes from the base games end game of farming elders for gems. Farming for armor sets / weapons isn't as bad as it was in the old games. Gotta love hoping for a 2% drop for an upgraded weapon.

I don't understand how people can like X and hate XIII. I'm playing through X now and it is just as linear if not more so than XIII. In fact it is kind of making me curious to try XIII again cause I stopped right before the big open area (boss rekt me).

Anyway, I voted V. Love it, has the best class system and the story is light hearted and fun.
