| Pitlord_Special 07/15/20 12:08:18 PM #9 | If youre familiar with Kohlbergs stages of moral development, I would say it gets at the distinction between pre-conventional moral reasoning (moral decisions are egocentric and made based on whether they will personally be punished or rewarded in some way) and conventional moral reasoning (moral decisions are informed by societys laws, rules, and expectations and there is an understanding that obedience and maintaining standards of behavior are necessary to have a functional society) I would say its a bit of a stretch to say you can fully self-govern (whatever is meant by that) operating solely at the conventional level, as it is at the post-conventional level that one has more of the capacity to evaluate rules and whether they are just, appropriate, and practical, and able to better develop, modify, and adapt the rules to given circumstances or changing situations. --- Posted from my iPhone 8 |

I still have the cabinet/end table I made in that class in my house. Didnt take any home economics but they were available. I also took the shop version of the required economics course which had a entrepreneurial focus where we made stuff to sell in the student shop. I had a 91 Toyota pickup that was costing me over $1000 in repair costs every year the last few years (Had the 4WD need fixing, then needed a new clutch, then the AC compressor, then the cooling/radiator, then the ECU which caused a total shutdown and had to have it towed off the freeway...you get the picture).
