The past decade may have been underwhelming, but the decade prior was full of life. Metroid, F-Zero, Star Fox, Pikmin, Mother, and many other IPs received games and sold millions (all while Fire Emblem wasn't even an afterthought). With that in mind, it makes little sense why things turned out the way they did. Now you're expected to believe the next decade won't be an improvement. Will people still be playing the same Mario, Zelda, and Pokemon games in 10 or 20 years, and are most of them not buying any other games whatsoever?

Not looking good. I extend my thoughts and prayers to those affected. This tragedy will be with us for quite a while.

Not too long ago someone posted a photo of an overturned moderation for a completely benign post that simply disagreed with the moderator's political beliefs. Unsurprisingly, it had been labeled as "trolling," a selectable option for reporting posts that, as we all know, had since been removed.

It's only clear this opinion wasn't held until after you found out about the development. The halfway point isn't even discernible.

And the game wasn't built up and scrapped repeatedly, with the final build taking just 9 months, so the comparison doesn't really work.

Coincidentally, FFXII was also rushed and had a director change partway through! I think FFXII would've had a much better reception if Matsuno had been allowed to finish it the way he wanted.

Given its already universal acclaim and absence of any glaring flaws, it could've been worse for all we know. It obviously wasn't "rushed" either, based on how long it was in development and the fact that it was finished.
