To hell with the rest of it. 100% agree. I have a roommate who is a big Star Wars fan, but he is a blind fanboy and we get into about the sequel trilogy which he still says from day 1 that he enjoyed. My friends and I were hanging at a bus stop at night - it's just what we did as kids at that age in our neighborhood in Hawaii, apartments everywhere - my neighborhood is considered the mini-Waikiki on Oahu, little place called Salt Lake (not Utah, look it up). Someone who we knew from Middle School came up and was asking about a girl - forgot her name. I guess he was meeting up with her that night. One of my friends was a gang member, a blood, this dude was a crip. They started talking shit to each other and then he pulled his gun out and started pointing it - I think we all started talking shit on him after that, didn't really faze us. The peak for me before watching this was Episode 3, but the prequels is just a half of the real story of Star Wars (1-6). Some of it was kinda boring cause it was political and whatnot, Jar Jar was annoying yeah, but looking at retrospectively, it made sense and that's enough for me. Sequel Trilogy left a bad taste, it was entertaining sure but it doesn't hold any value in the grand scheme of things. Why couldn't we get a struggle between the Emperor and Rey where the Emperor looks to have the upper hand even with force ghost Luke, Obi-Wan, and Yodo by her side... but then Anakin shows up. ST just felt unnecessary and really shits on the OT more than anything, basically making this not a Skywalker saga and more of a Palpatine saga. Episode 8 ruined what 7 handed it and 9 suffers because of this. And 9 we didnt even get a cameo of the true chosen one (Anakin). Atleast PT gave us Obi wan, Darth Maul, and lightsaber battles. ST gave us Kylo Ren but totally wasted the idea of the Knights of Ren. Talking about it just annoys me. --- dilateDChemist |
