Since some people are going in on "people with statues/monuments need to be 100% good people" Crazy Horse might very well go down too.

The majority of Black Americans can't swim.

https://www.bbc.com/news/world-us-canada-11172054
A recent study sponsored by USA Swimming uncovered equally stark statistics.
Just under 70% of African-American children surveyed said they had no or low ability to swim. Low ability merely meant they were able to splash around in the shallow end. A further 12% said they could swim but had "taught themselves".

I live near the coast, around 25 minutes away anyway (NY) and quite a number of my black friends still couldn't swim, I couldn't believe that when I heard it at fast.

Alright so here's the bad news, the initial census upload was removed when they reworked their website, something like Wayback should have it but it is not loading for me so I'm not sure if you want to try that.

While that site (which I just used because it was one of the first that came up) I'm sure does have a bias on other things this was reporting on data released by the US census, Wikipedia actually still has that data uploaded if you would like to view that, although that site also has bias issues, as I'm sure you are aware.

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_U.S._states_and_territories_by_educational_attainment

As I don't want to repeatedly post different websites which reported on it and get rejected for the sites being biased, I would encourage you to look for a source that you like that reported on the Census information. I think we would all be happy then.

I'd say a big thing is that it is much harder to know your place in a big society like the US.

Smaller communities have a much more personal connection, and it is far easier to find where you fit in the machine.

But in a big city, thousands of people are doing the same work you do, you aren't one of a few plumbers in the town, you are one of thousands easily replaced and tossed away if something happened.

I guess feeling essential is really the most important thing.

Ahh I see. So you're saying "The comics should be followed to a complete T with zero divergence." There should be no digression or leeway for the film makers to use as much or as little comic influence as they want. And especially no question for the audience of what's going to happen, zero suspense whatsoever. We should know EXACTLY what's going to happen in the movie based on the comics. And Thanos should have fucked the god of death too. On camera. Full penetration.

Brb hiring a skywriter to spell out Y I K E S over your house.

Y I K E S so eliminating female roles is totally okay in your book?

Thanos doesn't have sex with the god of death, maybe if you actually knew what you were talking about it would be a good thing. He has the same overpopulation statement in the comic, but better explained there.

You could have brought up his waifu in the Infinity Gauntlet comic which is an actual thing.

And faithful adaptations are bad now? Really?

And yeah, reducing female characters' roles in the story while simultaneously trying to up play how good you are with female characters is cringy, why not give the major moments they had instead of taking them away. The biggest thing a woman does in Endgame to contribute to the plot is to kill herself. That's terrible.

Imagine how badass for female empowerment it would have been to see Nebula who has been tortured for decades by her abusive father be the one to undo his destruction after her relationship with her sister inspired her growth?

Why?

What's the problem with a black guy voicing Samurai Jack?

Or a white guy voicing Dr. Hibbert?

This is something I've seriously never understood why it matters, as long as the voice fits the character.

Could it maybe be better if Kratos was voiced by a Greek guy? Maybe, but both of his VAs are great. (Hopefully that doesn't turn into were with all this going on)

Not cancel them, just make it so that not all of them are baby murdering barbaric savages.
Tolkien even had trouble portraying them like that way back in LOTR and they've been slowly changed anyway by settings like Exandria, Azeroth, and Eberron.

Tolkien did slip in some Orcs fought against Sauron's forces actually.

It is stated that the elves are the only race to have fought on one side during the war against Sauron, so some Orcs did rebel and fight against him.

The orcs clearly do have an honor system judging by their interactions and statements as well.

And also

Yes, I think the orcs as real a creation as anything in 'realistic' fiction ... only in real life they are on both sides, of course. For 'romance' has grown out of 'allegory', and its wars are still derived from the 'inner war' of allegory in which good is on one side and various modes of badness on the other. In real (exterior) life men are on both sides: which means a motley alliance of orcs, beasts, demons, plain naturally honest men, and angels.

Tolkien orcs were meant to represent the worst of humanity, the build and create but only weapons of war, they tear down forests and destroy nature, Tolkien hated direct allegories but orcs come pretty close to being direct commentary on industrialization when compared to the Hobbits.

Other things do make orcs just savages, but Tolkien's orcs were clearly intelligent using explosives, siege towers, and mass producing their weapons in factories.

Retroactively it has gotten a ton of praise, especially when looking back the reason people disliked it has vanished, new players aren't having that same introduction with the title.

People always enjoyed the game at the time, and the fact that MGS3 wasn't continuing the story also led to criticism on release of the game, but people tend to forget that one.
