Case 5-2 - The Monstrous Turnabout

Theres no way that could have happened, based on the placement of the feathers and bloody tracks. We get testimony from Filch, he claims he was keeping a close eye on the foyer, but in fact, he was watching TV on the clock. They blame this on the positioning of the TV, I thought it would have been more compelling if the security cameras feed was shown on the TV. That way, if he was watching the wrestling match, there was no way hed be able to track what was happening in the foyer.

He claims that he didnt need to see the foyer - not only are the steps and floors squeaky, but Tenma Taros staff makes a jingle-jangle sound. Well, that coordinates with Jinxies testimony about a staff, but theres nothing in the official illustrations indicating Tenma Taro to have such a staff. Filch claims to not have seen Tenma Taro, but he had to have in order to know about the staff.

Jinxie testifies about seeing a bunch of youkai in the Fox Chamber, but it turns out its her disturbed feelings about the memory that changes this. We do a little Mood Matrix boogie woogie, and shes in order again with 0% noise. Theres a nice little bit of cooperation that we have here between Athena and Apollo, so thats starting to get into the question I raised earlier about the interaction between their powers.

This was the confusing part for me - Jinxie has a master key on a Nine-Tails Flower wooden coin. If I recall correctly, she said she picked it up inside the Fox Chamber. But thats supposed to be a locked room. We spend a ton of time belaboring the idea of someone LEAVING the room, but its not questioned how Jinxie got into the room to see what she saw in the first place. Maybe I read that part and missed it?

Supposedly the person who did it left, locked the doors, then tossed the key back in the room via the air vent. Much is made of the person being IN the air vent, when everyone knows that if an air vent stops and points directly down, all you need to do is throw the object with enough force for it to hit the corner, and it will fall down. The person didnt need to be in the air vent at all. But thats neither here nor there for now.

Det. Fulbright thinks that 2007s dont tase me bro is his model of policing Prosecutor Blackquill going forward. Not the most humane thing Ive ever seen in AA, but at least we dont have the prosecution repeatedly physically assaulting everyone in sight who steps the slightest bit out of line.

Is it just me, or is Simon Blackquill an interesting mix of 19th century British literature tropes and samurai/Japanese culture of the same time period?

Mayor Tenma confesses to being possessed by Tenma Taro, and the Judge thinks we all need a break to look into things further.

On to the investigation! We crawl in the air duct, its very dusty and it wouldnt have been if someone had been in there recently. Mayor Tenma is still on his Tenma Taro kick but you are able to productively discuss a few points with him and receive the Forbidden Chamber Key. We talk to Jinxie and she tells us she didnt see tracks and feathers when she was there initially. Oooh, not good.

Yeah this case was frustrating because there were so many areas where I felt like the game was just discounting an obvious possibility.

Nothing huge, but there's stuff as high as the 8 line that I've never heard of (seriously wtf is a Stadia) and yet the PC-98 is absent. I honestly thought that ro get to 64, you might even need to include its less famous predecessor, the PC-88, as like a 16-seed or something.

I'm pretty sure Nintendo themselves consider the GBC just an upgraded version of the original GB rather than a new system, akin to what the DSi is to the DS.

Holy crap, there are still songs in the bracket that I'm hearing for the first time? You'd think by Round 4 I'd have heard them at least once. (First match) Anyway this day is relative crap, with a game that rarely disappointed (Terraria Calamity) doing so and a game that had done nothing but disappoint (Kirby Triple Deluxe) winning the day. None of these songs really deserves retirement although Moonstruck Blossom is at least acceptable.

Ugh. I stopped giving Golden Parcels to MK8 (aka "not-SMG2") when I saw it was a hopeless cause. Couldn't push "not-Portal 2" over the edge.

I mean, that whole round was a travesty; had my +10 facing my +9 and my +8 facing my +7. So I was going to be disappointed regardless.

Fire Island Volcano's not as bad as I thought it was, though. It starts out rough, and ADHD as I am, that generally dooms it. Can I just say you guys are the best?

That was a trainwreck of a stream. Normally I always make OBS the active window because it doesn't stream very well if it isn't, but today the emulator itself was slowing down if I didn't make it the active window and it looked like I was still streaming at a decent rate so I went with it.

I wasn't. Going over my stream, half of it isn't even available for me to highlight and the rest is static images with the audio still going. I think the problem might be in the computer itself, because for some reason I could barely hear it at all with the computer's speakers at max, but plugging in headphones it worked just fine.

And it was still the highest average viewers I've had since the one time I actually got a raid. I'm guessing you guys just opened a tab for me in the background? Because there was absolutely nothing worth watching in there. Thank you so much.

That's not an indication that I disliked DNF FW15C (ALL PHASE MIX), though. It's closer to being an indication that I thought the other three were great, but mostly it's an indication that the other three are very close for me. All Phase mix has its good phases and bad phases.

Man, when this contest started, I thought it was going to be another great one line last year. Seeing that something awful still managed to win last year, though, and seeing it win again in the ToC, should've been a sign. The idea of Midnight Lady-Cloche being a round 3 match repulses me, and I'd almost be ready to take VftW strats but Filthy Mind is far enough ahead of both of them that even though the first match isn't close, I'd still have something good to vote for next round if it doesn't go my way.

Sakura Wars is the first thing that comes to mind. The first four games never made it out of Japan but I played the fifth when they ported it to the Wii and the sixth game is very recent, like I think it might be on the Switch and maybe some of the other current systems.

It very seamlessly blends both aspects--your units get stronger the better your relationship is with them, but even the VN segments are sometimes QTEs instead of just straight "pick a dialogue option".

Wow. Somehow we actually got two Hymnos in the same day and neither ended up as my least favorite of the day. Or did they? I went back just to confirm that I actually liked Deoxyribose less than the Hymnos and instead it ended up rising clear past Infinite Beating. And maybe so did the Hymnos? This is one of those days where I feel like I like whatever I heard last the most. EXEC_Z should be more my style than EXPAJA, but it clearly isn't.
