Like it's easy to understand why the original series went this direction but it felt a little anticlimactic. The story is obnoxiously linear, gatekeepers at every interaction preventing you from exploring further until you beat the town gym leader. And this is the gen where the difficulty just plummets. Most trainers, including gym leaders, have 1-2 pokemon. The visuals were great for the time. Nothing about this game was bad. Its just... I cant recall ever being wowed by the game... Plus, Id say characters was the game's weakest point. The only thing I remember about the villain was how hammy he was and with exception to Seth and maybe Jansen, no one in the main cast felt too memorable. I mean, its been quite a while since I played and perhaps under a new lens, I could appreciate the game more. Not opposed to replaying the game nowadays. But after my first play through I felt a little underwhelmed. Still, LO was better than anything Square Enix has given us since FFXII and its a shame Mistwalker didnt wind up being more healthy competition for SE. --- Onyx87 Feel the love... |
