Thats like saying gameplay is never the problem with X, its the game breaking glitches and terrible frame rate that really lets it down

This is one of those things that cant be quantified with a review score, especially in the hamstrung video game criticism spectrum. 5/10 is meaningless, just as any score would be. Reading a full critique is far more valuable to knowing if this game is worth your time than usual.

Linear narrative probably, but when open world narrative is done right, like Witcher 3, then thats good too

I like GTA and Red Dead but I think they seriously need to rework their narrative design. Traveling to a mission only to spend the first five minutes of said mission traveling somewhere else is such a poor and outdated design.

Also, open world games that hide their story content behind open world tedium are the worst.

I admire these guys doing these games without big money publishers behind them but theyre just... severely lacking. I could justify the very, very average and generic gameplay if their stories were good, but theyre not, theyre shallow and as obvious as it gets.
