Wallpapers/pre-renderd backgrounds will always look good I'm more interested in the character models. Not to take away from that image but the actual character models is what I want to see.

i think character models is possible to replace i just tested vagrant story and messy but it's possible but bear in mind ps1 is notorious for devs using weird compression and this means there is a chance some games won't be able to dump it's texture without writing a custom program to extract it
and this is just recently made possible it will take time but the end result will be amazing given time and the bugs ironed out an example what could be possible is this
