Maybe its because they have a clear body, a neck, and a head that rotates, 2 arms, that are easily distinguishable from their feet. They have the most human-like/mammal appearance of all insects which makes them less creepy. They also have an entire martial art based on their nature. Special shout out to Orchid Mantids.
