theres also probably people who dont really care one way or another but will be so annoyed by this that theyll want to oppose whatever message theyre wanting to send just because theyre pissed off

This is something that happens a lot where I live.
When people want to protest, the common tactic is to picket and shut down the busiest intersection in the city for a few hours (often during the evening rush hour).
Sure it gets peoples attention, but it really damages the protesters image and the image of their cause.
Even if you have a legitimate complaint, its hard to come across as the good guys when all we know about you is that you think that your problems give you the right to inconvenience tens of thousands of other people.
Im not saying these people dont have legitimate concerns, but the message they send is definitely not were worth listening to.

Kneeling on someones neck is dangerous for more reasons than possible asphyxiation.
There are chokes routinely used in combat sports that are dangerous specifically because they incapacitate people by clamping blood vessels and can render someone unconscious without obstructing their breathing.
Im not saying that this happened here, im just saying that he didnt asphyxiate in no way translates to kneeling on his neck didnt contribute to his death.

Add God to your life isnt quite the same as repent and believe in the good news of Jesus Christ.
People adding God to their lives without repenting or holding to the exclusivity of Christ in salvation defines a good chunk of the western church these days, so I understand the confusion, but since this is one of the reasons that Christianity can look like an absolute gong show to nonbelievers (non-Christians calling themselves Christians), its worth pointing out the difference.

I would need to know what the other term is.
I would always list the width second, and what I say would depend on the descriptor.
If I was supposed to say Length and Width then I would use 2 as the width.
If I was supposed to say Height and Width then I would use 1 as the width.
And you cant just leave it up to me, because if it were my choice, I would say length and height and not use width at all.

I put other because it depends how its done.
If the notes are used as optional ways to flesh out the story without forcing people further into the lore, then thats great.
If the story makes absolutely no sense unless you track down and read notes scattered throughout the game, then that kind of sucks.
The plot and world should accessible and interesting without added effort on the players part, but its also nice to reward people for exploring by allowing them a deeper look into things.

Like any other profession, there are going to be some people who deserve more respect than others.
Im sure that many go into military service because they want to defend their country, their family, their freedom, etc. But there are also people who go into it because they like guns, they like the authority and admiration they think service brings, and even because they think it would be a blast to shoot at someone and take down the bad guys.
Ive known guys on both ends of this, and so theres no way I would be able to just give a blanket respect to everyone who serves.

This. You don't need some "divine teachings" to dive your moral compass.
Murder is obviously wrong because it's an act of irreversible aggression against another person. Anyone with the ability to wipe their own ass should be able to deduce this.

A secular foundation can get you to a point where you can rationally argue that murder is detrimental to human society, or that its unfair, but it cant provide any reason for why its actually wrong, or for why things like fairness or human survival are necessarily good.
Without something defined and unchanging outside of ourselves to ground morality, theres no way to logically reach the conclusion that anything is wrong or right.
If you dont like murder, then thats great. But if your worldview doesnt allow you to rationally support the idea that murder is bad (which a naturalistic view indeed fails to do), then you have to follow that where it leads you no matter what your preferences are. If you dont like where your worldview leads you, then find a different one, but dont lie to yourself or other people and try to make it work if it doesnt work.

ME3.

It kind of makes sense, though. Those dialogues are situations where you're literally either treating her like a child (in which case she kind of resents you) or dismissing her out of hand (which discourages her). Which means that, in the final battle, she lacks the resolve to survive the battle.

It makes even more sense when you realize that Geralt is essentially her surrogate dad - the more you act like her dad (try and cheer her up when she's upset, trust her judgement rather than undermining her), the more self-confidence she has, and the more likely she is to survive. It's like an anime where you can only win with the POWER OF LOVE.

When I played through I got the best ending completely by accident, without using a guide at all. The "right" choices are kind of blindingly obvious (except maybe the one where you either drink or snowball fight).

I guess its difficult because, despite the Witcher series reputation for recognizing grey areas and the nuances inherent in different situations, this is a place where they really failed to do that.
Being a parent does mean encouraging your children, having fun with them, etc. But, if youre doing your job, it also means holding them accountable, being honest with them, and telling them when theyre wrong so they can grow in the right direction. It means recognizing whats correct, whats not, and how to think critically in order to make these decisions on their own once youre not around to help them.
The game separates these two essential elements (encouragement and accountability) and pits them against each other, and then it punishes you if you pick the one that they didnt arbitrarily define as the more loving option.
(plus, in case it muddies the waters a bit, I completely missed the snowball fight check in my play-through, so im not necessarily criticizing that one the same way as the others.)

Most frustrating ending for me was The Witcher 3, not necessarily because of what each ending entails, but because the way that your ending is determined is completely moronic.

(Sorry for not using spoiler tags, I figured I didnt need them since I dont actually say what the endings are.)

Rather than taking into account your actions over the course of the game, it checks how you responded (or if you responded) to five specific events/conversations in the final act which dont even relate to the plot, but how you interact with a specific character. Basically, if you do anything besides affirm her character and decisions wholesale, you get the bad ending. This is frustrating because she spends a good chunk of this time acting like a petulant child, and, as a father figure, its pretty much Geralts job to challenge her on this stuff.
Getting the bad ending isnt the end of the world, but finding out afterwards that this was the metric for deciding that is a major slap in the face when youve invested so much in the story at this point.

Im not that far yet, but this has been my main gripe with the show.
The production values are good, the acting is pretty decent for the most part, and overall its been entertaining to watch, but the plot doesnt even try to make any sense sometimes, and none of the characters (villain included) do what would actually be the most sensible things to accomplish their goals (because the story would just be over already otherwise).

Female-led movies have never been controversial when the casting makes sense (ex. Romantic comedies, dramas, etc.). This recent trend of casting women in action roles hasnt gone over too well because female-led action films is just not a genre that has a lot of demand.
The type of guys that watch action films typically arent the type who are going to appreciate heavy feminist propaganda, and most women would more often than not rather watch other genres, so there isnt really an audience for these things.
In the same way, do you think romantic comedies would suddenly catch on with guys if they started focusing more on the male characters than the females? Of course they wouldnt. It wouldnt draw the men in who have usually avoided that genre, and it would probably alienate the women who otherwise enjoy them.

You would think that if there is a greater similarity between races than sexes, people should instead be MORE accepting when people cross boundaries since the boundaries (by your own admission) are less defined.
Of course that only works if we take into account that all the rules surrounding these issues are pretty much entirely arbitrary and sway back and forth depending on how people feel and what they want rather than how things actually are.
However, since that wont be happening anytime soon, people are still free for the time being to justify themselves however they want until the next time someone else has a different equally arbitrary standard for what is right and acceptable and chooses to be uncomfortably vocal about their disagreement.
What an exciting time we live in.

Using the Raimi version as an example.
Its true that ita not entirely Peters fault that Ben died (hes not the one who shot him, after all), but he does bear some responsibility in the fact that he could have easily stopped the guy who ended up doing it but let him go because he was being petty and wanted to get back at the dude who ripped him off (This is one place where the line With great power comes great responsibility hits home.)
Peter didnt heed his uncles words, and one of the results of his failure to do so was the death of his uncle, which both proved that Ben was right and illuminated just how badly Peter had failed. And this is only a small part of all the things that would go into creating a sense of guilt in that scenario.

Depends on the kid and depends on the film.
Taking a ten year old to something rated 14A that makes them uncomfortable probably isnt the best choice, but theyll get over it.
Taking a six year old to see something like Saw or Hostel is not only going to freak them out in the short run, but also carries a higher chance of affecting the way that they feel and think about certain things as they age.
If youre pulling your kid out of their comfort zone a little bit but itll be a growing experience or something you can look back on and laugh, then that just sounds like parenting lol. But if its a situation where youre knowingly putting your kid in distress because doing what you want is more important than their well-being, then abuse may not be the worst description of whats going on.
