We've gotten much higher quality anime since the days of late 90s/early 2000s Toonami, so compared to a lot of stuff today, DB feels primitive. You look at something like Fullmetal Alchemist or My Hero Academia--where characters and fights are handled with so much care and detail--and it just subconsciously raises your standards. I'll always have a spot for DB in my heart, but I don't think I would have gotten into the series past childhood. --- I don't hold grudges.
