I wouldn't call Tom Bombadil "dumb", but even with him there isn't enough material to stretch the story out over 9 fucking movies. Just look at how bad the Hobbit trilogy was. |

The key should be to treat people appropriately and well, not to ignore characteristics that do unfortunately matter. Even on an interpersonal level, race is one of the most salient factors in our society and ignoring that is going to get you into trouble. It's harder to figure out when you should take it into account and when it's not as relevant, but that's what's necessary. So how exactly do you expect people to act toward people of different ethnicities in their personal life? I have many friends/acquaintances/co workers that have a different skin color than me, and I treat everyone equally (that is, with basic respect). Am I supposed to treat different people differently based on their race? |
