It's a little like Siltbreaker because of the limited hero pool, and it's very difficult to have good single target damage with that pool, but it basically feels like Gauntlet meets Hades. 4 players, there's a series of rooms, you get a pretty major ability upgrade after each room, and after most rooms you get a choice of the next room. Pretty good variety, and the challenge is definitely there. Also has permanent upgrades between runs, so you can really have some longevity from the game mode while it's out.

interesting shout-out, i've never heard of this game. do you know how the ports of 1&2 that came out this year are? i'd like to try it

I'm not sure but I've heard good things. 2 is less good than 1 imo, it just misses on some of the magic and density in the first game. The puzzles feel tacked on rather than crafted as a core part of the design. I strongly recommend picking them up, but know that the game wants you to use your brain and a notebook

Hollow knight was kinda milquetoast to me, if only because I played a LOT of metroidvanias before it and I didn't feel like the minimalist combat engine brought much to the genre that felt fresh. For perspective, my favorite metroidvania is La-Mulana, another indie one with comparable scope and a metric ton of density. I haven't played Salt and Sanctuary yet, but I support the other two games.

You've kinda got it, but I want to take it a step beyond. Software development is resistant to metrics and analysis of performance on a large scale. Documentation is write only. A lot of the rituals that they're asking you to do are antithetical to doing your job well.

I'm an introvert who loves public speaking.
Need to thrash /task switch frequently.
I have a serious mean streak when it comes to working and generally dislike authority.

I don't get why you guys are up mark's ass.
Neo nazis have no business being on the force, but have successfully infiltrated LE anyways. A policy is toothless regardless of how its written. Something like a corporate speak morality clause (I don't know if those exist in pd contracts) allows for a more expansive, more powerful course of removal than explicitly stating neo nazis or white supremacists not allowed, specifically because morality clauses cannot be defended against by denying an unprovable affiliation. We've seen it before with conservative rebranding, by saying "no white supremacists" then all a ws has to do is deny affiliation or rebrand using a dog whistle (race realist for example)

It's really hard to write a policy that is effective in keeping bad actors out, especially when the people enforcing these policies are already infiltrated with bad actors.

There's still some good metal out there, but straight rock got pushed out of the mainstream because there was nowhere to go from mid 00s post grunge. Emo/screamo was a dead end genre, pop punk didn't have anywhere to go, and the rock genre as a whole became entirely about hooks and the best 5 second clip for athletic montages. That's pretty boring, imo.

The point is your baseline quality on earbuds is too low to notice the quality difference. With decent drivers you'll notice more of the fluctuations due to Bluetooth interference and packet loss over air, even over short distances

I have a similar background. there's no discernible difference unless you bought some cheap shit.
Maybe your ears were damaged, or the systems you were on weren't tuned well. 3/4 inch drivers physically cannot give anywhere near the fidelity that a larger driver, even ones in a full over-ear headphone can give.

I used to be a stagehand. I've heard well-mixed audio on a well tuned system, and going to tinny 3/4 inch drivers just doesn't do it for me.

I have wireless earbuds with an over-ear clip because my ears don't grip any earbuds. They have to be very far into my ear to get the full range of sound, and always slip out over time. The sound quality is also noticeably worse, and I occasionally get some fluctuations in quality due to interferance/wireless loss in Wifi/bluetooth transmission. When I'm at home I always use my AT wired headphones, and have no intention of changing from devices that have a properly sized driver for full range audio.

I don't mind long startup on actions, but when you have to wait for ages after active frames end and you can't cancel into guard or evasion, it is incredibly feelsbad. I'm thinking specifically of ff7R - the combat in that feels really bad in terms of fluidity because animation recovery takes too long and is commonly interrupted. Guarding is easy, but half the time you can't even finish a combo without getting hit by another enemy or an unstaggerable attack.

I just want to complain i think, but I really want more games where you can seamlessly transition between actions - the first thing that springs to mind is dead cells.

I think meditation is a horrible practice. I'm aware that this is going to be an over-generalization, but I can only speak from my own experience and this is mine. Everyone I know who practices meditation turns weird, like they're all esoteric and mystical and goofy all the time about the universe and stuff. And it's like, they're weird, robotic and stripped of any personality they used to have because they just keep a blank mind most of the time.
Not saying you're wrong, but two thoughts.

Perhaps the people you're referring to are meditating as escape, rather than as something to provide balance. In the same way that people can become addicted to anything that is a stimulus, I can see people falling down the faux spirituality rabbit hole and becoming enamored with bullshit zen or whatever.

In a similar, but adjacent vein, have you ever considered that what you see as personality might be acting to mask suffering or turmoil? I can't speak for everyone, but I think of people like Robin Williams whose vibrant personality and character masked some serious depression.

Depends on the person. And the style of meditation. Largely it's just training your brain to be OK with cycles where it's not fully in stimulus mode.

If the player is forced to make informed decisions on what to carry, that's fine. Like choosing between carrying extra health recovery or extra weapons/ammo.
However it's pretty annoying when you get a whole bunch of different materials with no indication on whether they're going to be useful later. Remember those pieces of scrap metal you kept dropping to make room for useful stuff in the early dungeons? Yeah you need 100 of them to craft the next weapon now, good luck.
