The van slowly pulled its way up to the camp. It had long been abandoned and the sign over it was falling over in a state of disrepair. The path to the camp, once clear, had become overgrown. Trees were everywhere. They grew large and wild, hanging over the path and obscuring the way into the camp. It was dark, which didnt help things. And it was quiet. That didnt help things either.

Everyone in the van slowly emptied out and approached the gate. There was a heaviness in their step. An evil lived in that camp. Everyone here knew it. They had been tasked with stopping it, but there wasnt a single person in the group that was looking forward to it. It was a dangerous task, and everyone understood that some of them would not make it out of the camp alive.

Are you sure we have to do this? A man near the back of the group said. It isnt too late. We could turn around.

Everyone stopped moving. None of them had wanted to say that, but now that it was out there it was all they could think about. To just leave. Go home. Truth be told, it was all they wanted to do.

No. The woman at the front of the group was adamant. Unwavering. Someone needs to stop this evil. If not us, no one will.

The group murmured a reluctant acceptance and slowly walked into the camp. Once they got close to it, they could finally make out the faint markings left on it. It read CAMP 2020.

1) Full mafia rules can be provided upon request. I think everyone on this list has played like 50 games minimum so I'm going to skip stuff you should already know. Consider this the abridged version, but the understanding is you already know how to play mafia. Do not post in this topic asking for rules, but PM me if you need them.
2) I modkill without warning for infractions. Please do not make me do it. I am one of the most strict MODKILLERS in all the land, but I would prefer not to do it. Below are the most frequently modkillable infractions, but do not consider this a complete list.
3) Do not delete or modify any posts. I do not care if there is a spelling error. I have a way of knowing who deleted a post, so if you do it I will track you down and kill you. And then kick you off the board. I can do that, Allen told me it's cool.
4) Do not share any information about your role or alignment or anything with someone via PM for any reason. I might need replacements, so don't share it with people outside the game. There might be some role that means dead players might still be able to influence the game somehow, so don't share anything with people who have previously been lynched/killed/etc. Just don't.
5) Do not post after deadline. Be aware when deadline is. Read the last post in the topic before posting on the chance there is a stop. Consider this your only warning!
6) You can paraphrase your role PM, but do it loosely. If you are thinking of how to paraphrase every sentence, you are doing it wrong. Give people the general gist. If it is too close to the original role PM, I will kill you and the make fun of you in your flavor flip because I am heartless.
7) I would advise you to not meta flavor. Some of the flavor fits perfectly. Some does not. Some stuff I made fit just for balancing purposes. You can meta if you want, but don't come crying to me in the post game about flavor when I am warning you right now it is a bad idea.
8) Play to win. If you blatantly throw the game I will kick you off the board.
9) USE COMMON SENSE AND DON'T BE A JACKASS. Attacks on someone for race, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, etc will not only get you modkilled but will get you yelled at and banned from all future Suprak games. Just be cool, man.

I feel like maybe we could get a good election security bill together now maybe? Or not who knows. Democrats had concerns in 2016 but republicans were like "haha cry more lib". Ok so I am very sorry. I was hoping I'd get a couple of "you can cut me if you want" to make things easy for me but this had a lot more interest than I anticipated. I cannot make the game larger than 21. I've tried and can't get the balance to work right. I am really sorry for people who got cut. This really is probably the best player list I've had in any of my games and I couldn't just cut people who I knew didn't post all that often as there really wasn't anyone that fit that description.

My methodology was this: if I contacted you personally, you were in. For everyone else, I left it up to the RNG gods. There really wasn't anyone on the player list that is chronically inactive or a really bad player, so I couldn't decide myself (well other than Chaeix who didn't confirm and Changmas who did offer his spot up sort of kind of which was the most any one did).

The good news is I would be utterly shocked if we didn't need a replacement in a game of 21 so if you did get cut please try to read along as the first person who contacts me when I need a replacement will get it.

That Arizona wins feels goooooooooooood.

Arizona and Georgia are two states Obama didn't carry in his 2008 landslide so it is just a nice indication of where those states have been going. I think the 2022 senate races there are going to be super though just because of it being an "off year, opposite party in the white house" kinda thing that you almost always see. I think Kelly is a great candidate though so maybe he survives.

Interesting thread on a focus group ran on some swing voters. These people were Biden voters that switched over to Trump in the last week. Some highlights.

We're opening with COVID and the economy. Every participant here supports a mask mandate. Half said they were worried about new lockdowns under Biden. "I can't do March and April again," says one mother of three.

We ask if participants approve of Trump's handling of the pandemic. 70% say they disapprove. One woman notes that while Trump "Fucked this up" she also isn't "going to let Biden or anyone else tell me I can't have dinner with my friends."

Every participant here says they heard about the Hunter story. Every person except for one (the one white man in our group) says the story was not very concerning. One woman chimes in "I don't think the Biden kids could be worse than the Trump kids if they tried."

Over 50% of the people here support more government intervention in healthcare. Over 70% support the ACA and Roe v. Wade. 70% don't think Roe or ACA is likely to be overturned by the courts.

80% say racism exists in the criminal justice system. 60% have a favorable view of Black Lives Matter. These people voted for Trump!

Only one participant here agrees we should "defund the police." One woman says "That is crazier than anything Trump has ever said." 50% of people here say they think Biden was privately sympathetic to the position.

We are explaining the actual policies behind defund the police. One woman interrupts "that is not what defund the police means, I'm sorry. It means they want to defund the police."

We ask if they support reducing police funding and reallocating it to social services and other agencies to reduce police presence in community conflict. 70% say they support that proposal.

We ask an open ended question on "Why did you change your mind?" Various reasons. One woman says polls showed Biden was going to win but she didn't want it to be overwhelming so she logged a protest vote.

Every participant except 2 say Trump's behavior post election is inappropriate. 2 believe there was significant fraud. 2 more believe there was "some but not enough to change the outcome."

Okay closing with asking if anyone already regrets their vote for Trump. One woman says she wishes she wouldn't have voted. 2 say they would probably change their vote. One says she wouldn't but only because Biden won. Swing voters are really something y'all.

tl;dr - Swing voters are dumb. But overall going left on economic issues doesn't seem to scare this group much. Then again that's what they say but who knows. Feels like some of them were just looking for a reason to swap over to Trump.

Did GA end up getting a lot of late arriving mail ballots or something? I didn't think a 14k lead was possible based on the earlier numbers.

The earlier numbers did not have provisionals in them is my understanding. They had until...Friday (?) to cure them (which is allowed in Georgia) so they hadn't included them in the original numbers. I'm guessing they're almost out of those now though if I had to guess.

I mean not that they called it, but that they would do it now. A batch that went to Trump (56% to 44%) did come in today. But it was 127 votes. No clue why they wouldn't wait for the first mail in batch, or not call the race like four days ago when the percentages were about the same.

Nevada is going to wind up being a larger margin than Clinton won it in 16 it looks like. In fact there isn't a single swing state that Biden underperformed, from a quick comparison.

Georgia batches are getting smaller and smaller. They must be waiting for a recount if they haven't called that yet.

There is a lot of vote still out there, but Nate SIlver is currently estimating 3-4% points when it is all counted so that is at least where I was getting my number from.

Of course, some individual races were impossibly bad. Maine senate, Wisconsin presidential, etc. There might be some specific issue with those polls, but I don't know enough to extrapolate what it is.

Yeah, again, I can't blame 538. It looks like they'll get 48 of 50 states right and like you said, they put out an entire article like a week before saying "the reason we are confident Biden wins is because he withstands a polling error like 2016". But this is the second straight presdiential election where there has been a polling error like 2016. There might be something to Corrik's theory where a subset of Trump voters straight up refuse to answer polls because they are FAKE NEWS (thus creating a self fulfilling prophecy). But whatever it is this is now the second straight presidential election where the polls are off 3-4% points while in 2018 the polls were nearly perfect.

Their house analysis was also wayoff, but go look at any individual house race. Almost no polling, and if there is polling it is usually from a poorly rated company.

This was supposed to be one of the most competitive house races in the entire country. Five total polls, only one since mid August, and all companies are rated a C or worse. It makes races like this impossible to predict when the polling is so bad.

The polls were horrendous this year and I'm tempted to start ignoring them in presidential election years. 538 did what they could, but a lot of the data was incredibly bad this cycle.

I don't know if that works exactly. Some places (Georgia, Arizona) were almost perfect, while some places (Michigan, Wisconsin) were horrendously off for Trump. I feel like that explanation would lead you to expect a sort of uniform error throughout the states, right? Or am I missing something?

Trump literally got a higher share of Republican votes than 2016, and this time the Dems had the Lincoln Project and the John Kasichs of the world on their side.

Does anyone have any numbers on party affiliatoin? I thought the point of the Lincoln Project wasn't "leave Trump" but "leave the modern republican party" which is why they have attack ads out on literally almost every republican in congress. Most of them no longer identify as republicans right?

It always seemed to me the targets of their ads were the kind of people that would actually leave the republican party and go independent or libertarian or something.
