One of the prime issues with vigilantism is how often it is prone to escalate in wrongfully targeting people merely accused or mistaken for a perpetrator. Real life is not suspense films and comics. Real life vigilantism makes A LOT OF MISTAKES that can easily turn into a violent crossfire against innocent bystanders. Vigilantes may start with actual criminals, but are very likely to broaden their definition of guilty over time as they begin to interpret themselves as judge and jury through kneejerk rationalizations. They have a tendency to start out as someone who wanted to be a hero, but gradually evolves into an unapologetic thug who tries to mask violent sociopathy behind an illusion of being a crusader.

I'm not really surprised to hear this murderous couple has an unhinged history. If the charges against the murdered were valid, at best this couple were monsters who killed another monster. Behind bars is where they would belong either way.

If what was quoted in the article is true, she technically admitted to bigoted generalizations based on race and sex.

While it might be surprising to some wannabe radicals, many modern HR departments still do not consider "it's just discrimination towards white men " as a justifiable exception. You can still get (and should) be busted for that under grounds of discrimination. Because it IS discrimination. Not all white men are rich, sexist, racist, despots. And with more and more industries showing concern for what their employees post on social media, more of such hate-spewing radicals who vocalize thoughts of the majority of white men as boogey monsters will get a nasty shock finding out that their own discriminating quotes/actions will also be under observation by disciplinary committees. This effect of "what goes around comes around " is not a new phenomena when pushing for anti-discrimination policies while ironically trying to include exceptions.

She sounds like the type who makes a habit of intentionally walking the line risking being fired anyway. This should be no surprise. Irrational and bigoted people like that are usually their own downfall...

As a gay man, those are not important to me as goals. I help and support kids, but I never want any of my own. And despite being proposed to 3 times, I've been happy for years without marriage. Frankly, I've always felt our demographic did NOT need to incorporate it into our culture. Many of us were fulfilled well without it and we don't get as many benefits from it as straight folk anyway...

Negi apparently.

I don't personally see an issue with someone 18+ dating an older partner. Fuck, I did when I was 18. As long as it's two consensual adults, it's fine. If she's old enough to legally qualify as an adult, she's old enough to choose sex partners. That's how the laws have been set. And critics speculating the age to become an adult needs to be raised is nothing new (typical recommendation is 21, seriously). However, if you haven't noticed it's still 18 to legally qualify as an adult in the US despite the controversy, because the majority of society and the courts decided that's old enough. Don't like it? Change the laws, but don't be surprised if most of society sees YOU as an extremist for trying to raise the age of adulthood beyond 18. Many have tried, many understandably got laughed at.

What I always find pathetic about the faux outrage surrounding these cases is the distinct double standard typically applied. If an older woman dates a younger man who's at least 18, not a peep of a criticism from media. If an older man dates a younger woman who's 18-19...out come the sexist prudes.

And that's exactly what it is: sexism.

Do you think it would be great if half the male population became gay?
Most people would jump to the conclusion that I would say yes simply because I am gay.

However, that hypothetical would actually have some catastrophic economic effects globally. Many countries basically REQUIRE male work forces to exist to take the bulk of necessary manual labor, dangerous remote positions (ie offshore oil rigs, etc), public defense operations, and more.

Statistically, the majority of women simply do not want to do those jobs and typically have different priorities in careers. Two of the top reasons the average heterosexual man opts to work long hours in higher-paying risky jobs is A) appearing more attractive to women and B) providing for a family. The grand majority of gay men do not exhibit anywhere near the same ambition towards those goals (we're talking less than 10% who want to raise a family). And most gay men actually live modestly (cheap) as far as needs. What this means is gay men are considerably less likely to bother pursuing those dirty dangerous jobs society NEEDS in order to keep operating and sustain public privileges. So if half the human male population woke up and figured "well guess I'm gay now", there would be a cataclysmic lack of workers stepping up to earn higher pay for "uncomfortable" jobs...because one of the biggest reasons straight men sought those fields was removed. And women would actually experience another heavy impact in their career market since a ton more gay men would be spilling in competing for similar fields (like we do now as a minority).

As a gay male, I respect just how much straight men (love or hate them) immensely contribute to figuratively holding up society on their backs so the rest of us can live comfortably. If half of them "disappeared", societies would be fucked since our public systems and economies were built around the idea that straight men would continue to be one of the reining majorities of "grunt" work forces and investors/consumers...

Your hypothesis would have dystopian result.

Why is it so much easier to find a mate as a woman?
Men on average are thirstier and more ambitious about finding partners. The problem is the thirst can land a bunch of them with abusive backstabbing girlfriends. Also add in that casual hookups can be more appealing depending on the guy's current situation, so not every man is looking to settle down with just any woman he has sex with. If anything western men (from lower middle class to rich) have less incentive to settle down with a "mate" when sex can be ordered up like delivery pizza now.

When talking about "mates", most modern women definitely DO NOT have it easier. Easier to get laid with random men, yes. Find a compatible relationship partner that she won't resent? No so easy...

Gay men bothering to say they're "straight-acting" typically have some noticeable behavior that is anything but...

I'm saying as a gay myself most men in our demographic would rarely feel a need to use that term outside of awkward explanations with straight folk about similarities. Those of us who would casually self identify as "straight-acting" often ironically stand out as non-hetero more than they think.

ButteryMales posted...
That actually pissed me off, I was waiting for Brian to point out Quagmire is a rapist but it never came.
I think the reason it was never brought up in the scenario (although a legitimate take) is because it revolved around Brian's personal question to Quagmire: "How can you not like me?"

Brian was the character who unintentionally put himself "on trial" in that moment, not Quagmire.

Brian compulsively wanted to know how someone he's known for years could not like him. And Quagmire (being a very outspoken no-filter character) had a fitting answer for him. Brian's question and borderline obsession over one person in his social circle not being a fan of him is a glaring example of rationalized egotism and entitlement. His dilemma was rooted in his presumption that he was so talented, wise, and respectable that there was no possible way anyone could legitimately dislike him. It baffled him how anyone could. However, his social history among family and acquaintances throughout the series shows otherwise. Ironically, Quagmire could have gone without ever calling Brian out on this, but Brian's fussy egotistical compulsiveness shot himself in the foot by pressing the issue with someone who had no real reason to hold back.

This is a very typical outcome for egotists who crave agreement and popularity, but show little respect to the people they want it from. One day they just piss off a Quagmire and get put on blast...

Jealousy is like a mixture of anger, despair, greed, and occasionally fear.
It's really a compound emotion of other ones combined.

Some old recommended solutions for fits of jealousy was to treat one or more of the combined emotions above to get the jealousy as a whole under better control ("stop the train, by targeting the engine"). For example, a person could feel jealous and fear being upstaged by one of their friends buying an impressive new gadget to show off to the clique. This can also lead into some of the other troubling emotions to enter the picture as well. However, if the person comes to the conclusion that their clique will only be impressed for a short amount of time (flavor of the month), it can relieve the jealousy by removing the sense of urgency to compete.

A healthy minded person can mitigate the other emotions in similar ways.

As a demographic minority having dealt with discriminatory acts of bigotry and violence towards me over my homosexuality, I do NOT want to see local law enforcement crippled.

Some cops can be complete assholes, but police department presence can still prevent an enormous amount of hate crimes towards the LGBTQ communities by just being an inconvenient element for violent offenders. At the end of the day most of them don't want to get locked up or add to their penalizing record. Hate crime and sexual assault activities notably INCREASE in areas offenders would consider "lawless zones" where they have more opportunities to exploit the lack of authorities. This is why so many LGBTQ folk can not wait to escape impoverished high crime neighborhoods: we're sitting ducks with little to no protection from hate crimes in those zones.

Violent anarchists and rioters who want to remove police presence are NOT allies protecting the rights of LGBTQ no matter what their banners say. They increase the odds of us being victimized as a minority by countering the law enforcement and encumbering it's resources.

Always pay attention to your partner's reactions and expectations within the relationship.

Be wary of double standards. Figure out early whether you have adopted a relationship that's void of double standards (healthy) or one that requires them to maintain peace (potentially toxic and often subjugating).
