I've previously flicked through the 1960s book from the same series, and thought it was pretty impressive. Very long, and with lots of interesting articles and content in it. | MeIon Bread 11/02/20 6:25:40 AM #1 | American Culture in the 1970s (I really like this series, and have wanted to read this one for ages) American Culture in the 1940s (looks interesting) Reel Terror (this is a history of twentieth century horror films, taking in European and American horror, and so on, and is probably a very good book) Nuremberg Trials (I find Germany history interesting) Some other history book (I can't remember the name, which CE should laugh at) The books vary in length, from about 200 pages, to something like 500 pages. I think both concise books are longer, more detailed books are good. Thoughts on all this? Has anybody read any of them? --- Sunhawk's main alternate account. I've done three of them, and one of them I got a platinum medal on my first go. MUCH too easy, compared to the main challenge missions. The rest of the game is a lot of fun. I particularly like the free DLC challenge missions. The Christmas level is really cool; the beach level is good; the conveyor belt level is really good to look at and fun to play. --- Sunhawk's main alternate account. The current death rate is about 300 people a day, and the worst case scenario report suggests that without the lockdown, it will soon be at 4000 deaths a lot, which is a LOT. | MeIon Bread 10/31/20 3:53:06 PM #1 | I've been having a lot of fun with this game. I think the free DLC content is of pretty high quality, with tons of quantity as well. The five original levels (I mean, not based on previous layouts) have clearly had plenty of effort go into them, with excellent graphics and some interesting gameplay. The difficulty is daunting. I used to find other parts of the standard version really hard, but this might be even tougher. I've only briefly played the campaign, but it seems identical to before, if you play on Hard Mode. The controls are basically alright, but there are some real problems with the characters' movements stalling. This never happened in the Wii U version. I haven't played on the highest difficulty for the main mode, or tried the side missions. Have you been playing this? --- Sunhawk's main alternate account. | MeIon Bread 10/30/20 4:16:25 PM #1 | It's basically like the regular version, but with a LOT more content, just as previews and reviews said. The normal stuff, but also the DLC for free, which is tons of content, different difficulty settings, some side missions, and other stuff. The original had PLENTY of content, and this has even more. Since I started playing, I mostly focused on the challenge mode, particularly the extra levels, which I've basically not played before. They're a lot of fun. The rehashes are slightly limp, although with a reasonably amount of interesting gameplay, but the other levels, with new graphics and completely new layouts, seem fascinating. The campaign, when played on Hard Mode, which is equivalent to the original's difficulty, seems almost exactly the same, but there are now patronising new hints and such. Sad. The only thing that really disturbs me is the controls. They're really the same as the first three games, with some tweaks, but for some reason there is now a one second lag between pushing the analogue stick in a certain direction, and the character actually moving. I assume this is to allow people to aim without moving better, but it's very annoying. I mean, it feels clunky. But, I suppose it takes some getting used to. I've only been playing this afternoon and evening. To be fair, this is probably a superb game. Extremely well designed. The original was SO good, and this is probably better, although the controls do concern me. I think people who have played Pikmin 3 will probably still really enjoy this, and people who haven't played Pikmin 3 will ADORE it. People who have never played the series might have a hard time getting into it, but it would be MORE than worth it. Thoughts? --- Sunhawk's main alternate account. I've never understood why people love this film. It's not bad, from what I've seen, but not great. There are some interesting characters, and the little building in the woods is sketchy (which is good), and of course there's that scene that got the film banned from video release in the UK for decades, but still. It's certainly no Ginger Snaps, The Wicker Man, Absentia, Twins of Evil, Lust for a Vampire, or The Quiet Ones. --- Sunhawk's main alternate account. I mean, if you've never owned a Nintendo console, you probably won't have ever played it; even then, not that many people bought a Gamecube, and hardly anyone got a Wii U. I don't know the sales figures, but I can't imagine they were ever great. I do remember some good reviews, though. The campaign was excellent, and the challenge mode might have been even better. Introducing the pink and grey Pikmin really mixed things up, and of course, the graphics are the best in the series.
