Doom of the Living does fewer hits than Highwind but it charges more quickly. Conformer and Venus Gospel are also nice in their own ways.

I don't think Yuffie has an equivalent to the Scimitar though.

Aside from being cool as fuck, its attack is a powered up version of the annoying Malboro Bad Breath combined with the Meltdown spell. Being able to refine permanent stat boosting items with its Forbid Med-RF ability is also very nice.

Aura isn't just about increasing the chances of getting a limit break. It raises your crisis level.

Higher crisis level makes Renzokuken do more hits, makes Invincible Moon and Wishing Star more likely, gives you dramatically more time for Armageddon Fist and Shot, improves the spell selection and chance of getting The End, and directly boosts the power of Blue Magic.

You can potentially kill Omega Weapon with a single use of Armageddon Fist.

Amarant is not at all useless. Kaiser Knuckles + Bracer will allow him to do absurd damage with his normal attack. Revive, Chakra, Aura, and No Mercy each have their uses. He will also do max damage by tossing items or useless gil toward the end of the game.

Its not that simple. If you don't have the status protection, it's a 100% lose scenario. That makes him a very annoying enemy to encounter. This isn't the same Marlboro from the other games

By the third disc when you start encountering these things, if you don't have basic status protection on at least one character, what have you been doing? Even without Marlboros there are still other enemies that use berserk, petrification, confusion, and so on.
