I'm pretty disappointed with this title, but that was already when the trailer dropped. My memory of Super Mario Allstars is a compilation where they updated all the games with state of the art sprites and graphics. When they called this game Allstars I was expecting the same thing: increased poly count, high res textures, etc. The fact that it's literally the original games emulated bums me out and makes me not want to buy this.

So I heard a claim recently about the civil war that sounds plausible but I haven't verified it and I figured you guys could comment. It's about the reason for the civil war. I think Stephen Fry is the one who said it but I heard it second hand.

So essentially the claim is that the north didn't really care about slavery per se. However, it was hurting trade with Europe (UK I guess) because they thought Americans had an unfair advantage with all the cheap slave labor. And so the north wanted to abolish slavery to appease transatlantic trading partners, rather than for human rights purposes. Does it check out?

the best limit break are applied when you have crisis level 4 which can be reached by having less than 11% HP and Aura applied. it affects Renzokuken hit number, spell selection on Delphine's slot, timer on Zell and Irvine, etc

You'll want the Aura spell. Which can be gotten from an item, which can be gotten from a card, which can be gotten from an enemy. That is pretty accessible. From that point on you'll have perma limit break

Yeah but card modding has you max out your stats pretty early so you'll need to inflate a lot of HP before it gets even moderately difficult. And even then you could just limit break your way through pretty much everything

So, what I did further up was suggest that when it comes to "slaughtering Muslims" the US is the world leader. Which they are. I'm not really interested in "which manner of slaughter is worse" because I don't think Muslims should be slaughtered. And the fact is that the US are slaughtering a lot of Muslims.

Which relates to this topic in the sense that a lot of people seem to think that this latest revelation of mass hysterectomies is "so bad it could be China or the Nazis", while actually, the US has always been so bad it could be China or the Nazis. It's already been pointed out ITT that the Nazis modeled a bunch of their atrocities after American examples.

Pro-tip for risotto, you can use sushi rice if you can't find (or don't want to buy) arborio rice.

I made one a couple weeks ago with ground lamb, peas, and corn.

I think it's probably easier for me to find arborio rice than sushi rice honestly, hehe. That does sound good though! I kinda wish we had more fresh corn over here.

But I've seen some black rice grains in stores, I just haven't really bothered to check what they're supposed to be used for.

I watched Buffy recently after my gf trying to get me to watch it for a long time.

I'd say it's pretty good but the last line 1-2 seasons kinda drag on. Especially the last one. But when you keep in mind the state of television at the time, it's pretty amazing. Some episodes are still really really good, the rest is kinda campy and goofy but not in a bad way.
The musical episode is fantastic.

It's suboptimal. If you really want to break the balance of the game, what you want is abilities that turn enemies into cards, cards into items, and items into magic. You get them from different GFs pretty early on. Once you have those, you can get max amounts of really strong magic really early, and junction them to every stat. That way you'll be pretty overpowered, especially if you don't level up a lot (enemies level up with you). If you spend like an hour in the beginning playing cards to get certain ones, you'll be able to get Squall's ultimate weapon (which yields his final limit break) on disc 1.

Then there are some specific magics that further break the game. Aura gives your character limit break without having to be at critical HP (just keep pressing triangle if the limit break option doesn't show up on your turn), Meltdown removes defenses of enemies. You can get both those from enemies pretty early on disc 1 as well, by turning them into cards etc, and they let you spam limit breaks on every tough fight ever.

While FF VIII certainly had an interesting system with GFs and junctioning, it's by far the easiest to break with very little effort. And if you do things right you'll never need to summon your GFs, in fact that will be really bad compared to just spamming Squall's/Zell's/Irvine's limit breaks.
