Essentially, they're saying a shit ton of Kickstarter projects hit a huge roadblock having to port down to Switch (true, usually they're the worst versions as well) , so they're not putting it out on Switch, but will put it out on Nintendo's next console.

The Switch is three and a half years old now, and Nintendo's previous systems have mostly come out after 5 or 6 year gaps (with some exceptions, like DS->3DS). We could see the Switch 2 as early as 2022, I'd think, and many feel that Nintendo's system could use a power boost. When do you want to see it's successor?

the negative conclusion comes from the fact that there's essentially nothing to draw a conclusion from. atlus having essentially nothing to show (or deciding to show nothing) except models after how many years? and coupled with atlus' recent history of (imo) quite bad game design decisions, i am less than optimistic. SMT isn't exactly a franchise that benefits from some sort of super secret marketing campaign with no actual details revealed.

How far before launch did they show gameplay for previous SMT games? I feel like it was a pretty short time with those.

Switch is a desert so every game that does come out selos gangbusters. PS meanwhile is flooded with games so people are not rushing to get the latest one. Unless it's huge like TLOU

season two finale is particularly jaw-dropping, people talk about game of thrones' willingness to kill off characters but i've never seen any series show their protagonists getting so unambiguously destroyed like hannibal did

I don't get this, since none of them were actually dead (other than the one we thought was dead beforehand. I love S2 of Hannibal, and would say the finale is a below average episode for S2.
