I bought this game after seeing it on Oneyplays and I gotta say it's pretty awesome. I don't see anyone really discussing it much though, certainly it's not as hyped as Hades but I think I like Noita even more. Maybe it's because I'm not the most knowledgeable but this seems very innovative. Also quite a great sense of atmosphere.

in the end, the quality of a story is a personal thing, but it felt too much like a soap opera, and didn't do anything for me.

I also didn't like it as a prequel - I'm not saying that it's a bad game, but in the end, Majima's eccentric personality was because he was copying another gangster he admired, and Kiryu and Majima don't even meet until after the credits, smh.

I didnt see any depth to The Witcher 3s combat but I guess that's just me :p

And I cant comment on Yakuza 0 as a prequel since it's the only one I've played. All I can say is Yakuza 0 hooked me early on while The Witcher 3 was constantly doing the opposite for me.

I've gotta disagree.

I like what the Yakuza series has to offer, but I thought that its main narrative was super bloated and melodramatic.

its fights also feel drawn out and repetitive...but tbf, Witcher 3's combat can feel repetitive, too, since it's a really long game, but at least you can finish fights pretty quickly, and there are a number of different builds that you can make.

the side-missions are often hilarious, though, and it's cool that there are a crazy amount of side activities.

I can agree the fights can be drawn out and repetitive after a while but at least you can switch between combat styles and the core combat is good, while The Witchers combat is just bad.

I can see how the story is melodramatic and bloated but I dont think that's inherently a bad thing.

Ok but can you give reasons why you disagree? I'm assuming you dont disagree that Yakuza 0 had better gameplay at least. The Wither 3 is praised for its storytelling but it has that wild goosechase structure while Yakuza has a focused narrative full of exciting plot twists and engaging cinematography.

I think Animal Crossing New Horizon kind of over shadowed Doom Eternal tbh because it's a lot more accessible game(with the timing of Covid and everything). Doom 2016 had a much bigger reception than Doom Eternal which probably also played a big role as well.

But anyways Doom Eternal is my top game of 2020... to bad that doesn't mean much lol.

Maybe a bit, but it still feels like Doom Eternal got a ton of hype and praise when it came out. Most people said it was better than Doom 2016.

Its a great place holder and great stepping stone for learning more about the history of Tsushima

Characters were like 7.0/10 for me - I definitely wanted to see how things played out for everyone

Story itself is simple and engaging, nothing groundbreaking but it does have synergy with the setting and the tone of the game

I played it on console and enjoyed the way it looks.. if you are on PC then >_> <_< >_>

Fwiw I never fast traveled in the game lol

Its decent and nothing special, but it does make an effort to switch it up by having an emphasis on switching stances

Someone lent it to me and I basically had no expectations - it was fantastic for the setting alone tbh (Im a nature geek though, I just like being outside whenever possible)

also, the collectible portion - it honestly felt like it was worth collecting all the items just because I thought man, this armor/color
option actually represents something

Combat does get repetitive though.. but for a game that takes place within an actual historical setting I thoroughly enjoyed it

youre probably not gonna single one thing out and say you enjoy this game, youll most likely say you like the sum of all the parts and how they come together to sell a setting

I can get past weak gameplay if the overall experience is strong, but open world story driven games can easily become a slog for me.

Combat's pretty decent, but if you do a lot of the side missions it will get repetitive after a while.

Stealth is kind of mediocre open world stealth. Pretty typical for the kind of "take on a bandit camp with stealth" type gameplay.

I enjoyed it, but part of the appeal is the vibe of the game, not just pure mechanics.

Doom Eternal just made me realize how much I love arcade shooters like that. I'm so used to duck and cover fps or waiting in a corner to heal all my damage like CoD. But learning how to use all the weapons you have at your disposal while micro managing your ammo and health in a fast pace enviroment, I just love that high level of anxiety it gives me. My only biggest complaints are some of the "platforming" levels like the underwater garbage, but my god is it fucking fun though.

The oldschool fps genre is my jam even though I didnt grow up with them, classic shooters tend to be the genre I'm most often impressed or satisfied with.
