The issue where Jake gets taken over and had Yeerk starve to death and die in the mind leading to him seeing Crayak for the first time definitely gave me nightmares.I was the person who discovered I liked that kind of violence and warfare from a young age while still finding joy in the lighter things like Pokemon. The 90s produced a lot of things that got past the radar but Animorphs was one of the things that made a lasting impact for good or bad depending on how you turned out. Elimist should have stepped in to force a group vote or at the end of the book when the group still managed to win against Vissar 3 forced the game victory to be legit. Toomin (Elimist) was just some random gamer nobody on his world and Crayak is a giant angry manchild who holds insane grudges. The fact they decide to pretty much treat their new war with each other like a game with rules and restrictions as gentlemen in itself is insane when in the elimist book they were actively trying to kill each other. War crimes, PTSD, Rachel going from tomboy to straight up killer, child abandonment, war within your own family, and tons of other shit that anyone who read the books would know was not for children. The violence and gore describe was no joke and some of the morphs gone wrong were fucked up as well.
