I finished the second story in The Intuition of Haruhi Suzumiya, Seven Wonders Overtime. This one...was okay, I guess. It was mostly just Kyon and Koizumi sitting around discussing hypothetical scenarios. I think that works in limited quantities, but it can't be the conceit of an entire story. It feels like Nagato, Asahina, and even Haruhi have barely been involved at all (well, Haruhi has been more important as a concept than as a character in all stories in the timeline post-Disappearance, but that's a discussion for another time).

That being said, the last story, Tsuruya's Challenge, comprises 2/3 of the book in terms of length, so there's plenty of time to turn things around. I read the first handful of pages, and it already feels like Nagato has been more involved here than the first two stories put together! Plus, they're discussing mystery novels, and I can get on board with that.

That's sort of what I felt about Seven Wonders Overtime. It definitely felt too long for me. I liked the mystery stuff at the start of Tsuruya's Challenge but a lot of the references went over my head. You've definitely read more mystery than I have so maybe it'll go over better with you.

The Intuition of Haruhi Suzumiya beaten

I enjoyed Random Numbers but wasn't as much of a fan of Seven Wonders Overtime. These were both rereads for me since I had read them before but it was interesting to compare translations. Tsuruya's Challenge was pretty good and I was happy with being able to figure out some of the things that didn't rely on Japanese wordplay. But, at the same time it definitely felt like I was missing out with not being able to read the original Japanese. There were things like the characters saying T's Japanese was odd, but I couldn't really tell what the issue was and sometimes I wasn't sure if I should just give up on a mystery or not due to language barriers. Another area I felt like I was missing out was with all the mystery discussion at the start since my experience with mystery doesn't extends much further than Umineko. Coincidentally, I was actually just reading an article by Ryuukishi the other day about the "Late Queen Problem" which came up in this volume. Now the long wait for the next volume begins but the foreshadowing about the artifact is hopefully a sign that there's something not to far off.

I always thought Endeavor was an interesting character. As a hero, he was good at his job and has saved countless people. But in his crazed pursuit of #1, he destroyed his personal life and severely hurt the people around him. In a twist of fate, the spot of #1 fell in his lap in the worst way possible. Now he has to figure out what it really means to be the #1 hero. At the same time, he has finally come to his senses and is trying to make up to his family who have every reason to never want to deal with him ever again.

I think Western religion is more likely to get a positive portrayal if the enemies are something like vampires. But, sometimes that's more just the main character group being good and the higher ups are still corrupt.

I thought a prior chapter established that because "alfonse" was actually the player, that blowing the horn would return them to the "City of Steel." So how did they get back to askr anyway? Or has that simply not been established yet, and the mystery of such is the hook for the next chapter?

I don't recall them saying that would send Kiran back to the World of Steel. Blowing the horn just didn't work because Kiran thought he was Alfonse. Although since Alfonse is alive in the real world, it's no longer clear how things ended up with Kiran thinking he was Alfonse.

Pulling your team from your brigade isn't too big a deal. Since one can borrow units from friends, even players like me can field powerful 5* exclusive +10 units with decked out skills.

It feels like the bigger problem is where the enemies come from. The enemies are strong to the point where one can load their brigade with +10s from friends and still get killed.

Over time I started to get a feel for how they liked to hide Diglett. I would just mash A in a location that looked like it might have a hard to see Diglett even if I didn't see one yet. I would actually find one sometimes.

Strictly speaking it doesn't actually matter. For the most part people here are used to looking at poll trends so we knew where things were heading and have known how screwed Trump was for quite some time. I mean this topic declaring a winner was made over 24 hours ago. It's just an agreed upon signal to go celebrate (assuming you like the winner).

I always felt like Trump was like L Block. At first his results were only so-so and were taking advantage of his hardcore support to stay alive in multi way polls. But, his power grew over time until he was strong enough to start winning. Due to all the mailed ballot counting timing, I think he even had L Block like trends in some states this year.

Well, since you put it that way - I bet a not insignificant amount of liberals are going to not bother voting because the polls have Biden up by a lot. Whereas even the most conservative polls are showing a close election.

"Remember 2016? No lead is safe." I've seen opinions like that going around both from Trump and Biden supporters. So while complacency is a thing, it feels like many Biden supporters are happy to run up the score just in case.

How does that question even work during a pandemic? Like say a person was much better off before the pandemic took off and likely will be better off after it all ends. If you asked at either of those points, they could give a confident yes. But, in the middle of the pandemic? It feels like the vast majority of those people should be answering no right now. I don't even mean this as a shot at Trump. It just doesn't seem like a fair question to me and the high rate of "yes" answers seems nonsensical to me.

The overall project is active. The codebase is still getting daily updates. Operation Shadow likely isn't a priority so it isn't clear when they will get it working.

Well, I've done some more testing (and found the compatibility tracker on the project's github), and it looks like there's not a lot of games in a playable state. I guess the developers knew Shadowkey was the only N-Gage game most people care about and focused on it.

In other words, we're still waiting on that mass Board 8 playthrough of Operation Shadow.

Did you actually try Operation Shadow? The compatibility Github only lists it as bootable so I assume one can't get very far before it falls over.

Against Zygarde I brought in Abomasnow, Dynamax'd on Turn 1 and rained Ice on it. Zygarde got 4 KOs on my healthy human allies before I could finish the job. We lost.

But my worst loss was against a Kyogre. Turn 1 it used Surf for 3 KOs, including me, and hit my last ally for like 95%. On turn 2, we cheered the ally back to full HP then Kyogre single target Surf for the straight up OHKO.

Garchomp's Japanese name is which can be romanized as Gaburiasu. Either around the time of the Japanese release of DP or a bit earlier, he incorrectly had it written as "Kaburiasu" or something similar since I don't recall the exact romanization scheme used anymore but starting with "K" was definitely wrong. It was an easy mistake to make but he could not be convinced to fix it.
