Ok, I tried the Earth Mania raid and that was pretty hard even with Estelle and four fire SSRs. I cleared it with Estelle/Stahn/Misella left and one person aiding.

I have an extra awakening stone from this month that Estelle might want, but I'd like an excuse to summon first to see what I get. I'm tempted to go for that dark OL stone if the EX banner is a dud.

It's hard to really mess up. You'll want to have a greater feel for the game before using 5* units for skill inheritance, but you can use 3* and 4* ones without much concern.

It would be pretty neat to see a Leila v Jaffar voting gauntlet final. Lyn is not going to make it easy.

I went back into the mythic banner and got another Hel and Corrin. +Spd on Hel, and Corrin can fix the spd bane on my other one. Corrin has been fun to use. She's pretty much a significantly stronger Fjorm

Yes, it made sense for Smart Taravangian when we were assuming that Rayse/Odium's goal was to wipe out humanity entirely, although we now know that wasn't the plan. I was certain that Taravangian's actual endgame would have to rely on his "stupid" self and not be so obvious, but I had no idea what that would look like. But it the end, it all fit together so perfectly.

To be honest, Rayse was quickly becoming the one of the weakest part of the series, so this works out. Harmony's letter mentioning the lack of distinction between the Vessel and the Shard was starting to solidify that to me, by implying Rayse was more or less completely under control of the Shard. He was starting to become too similar to Ruin.

Since the gradual insanity of Cognitive Shadows (which the Vessels are) is such a major theme in this book, it's making me wonder. Obviously this seems to be Kelsier's primary motivation and also a major part of the Heralds/Fused/Szeth on Roshar proper. But maybe this is also Cultivation's goal - sidestepping this issue by replacing the Vessels, letting them have more control over the Shard. Maybe even going as far as being involved in Tanavast's death? I'm also thinking of Autonomy, who as far as I understand seems to have split herself (themself?) across multiple avatars. And maybe that's a different solution that lets them exert more Autonomy over the Intent of the Shard itself.

I had long suspected that dumb Taravangian would come through too, but wasn't expecting this. Dalinar and him did not receive a boon/bane in the traditional sense, and I like how that played out for them. Gives me something to look forward to with Lift.

There is this answer from Brandon that goes against the theory of Cultivation helping. It might be that Honor made himself vulnerable to Odium by breaking some agreement. They've made it pretty clear that they can break oaths, but there are consequences. I don't know much about Autonomy, but there's something to Cultivation grooming new shard vessels. That should be consistent with the shard's intent, and Rayse was not a man in control.

More musings:

So with Taravangian's Ascension and the reveal that this was being planned by Cultivation, and the heavy implication that Dalinar has been set up in the same way to eventually take over for Honor...does this mean that Cultivation is planning for fucking LIFT to take over for her? Those are the only three people we know of that she personally gave boons to, and while I doubt they will all work out in the most straightforward manner...I mean, that is the simplest explanation. And it makes sense with her Intent - culling the old gods so that new ones can grow.

I absolutely love Taravangian becoming Odium, by the way. A lot of people seemed bummed that his involvement in Oathbringer ended so anticlimactically for such a hyped up and interesting villain, but I was still holding out hope he'd have major involvement due to being chosen by Cultivation. But I would have NEVER expected it to be this massive.

lol I guess we're both on the same track here

The more I think about it, I really like Taravangian's ascension. All the elaborate Diagram planning just to save a city was a letdown. I was a disappointing that that appeared to be his endgame in Oathbringer. But this is great.

Yelled at this. Fuck you, Sanderson.

Dunno if you realized this yet, but this was Dalinar himself. He was set up earlier as being able to speak as the storm and override the Stormfather the first time he rode as it. And while Kaladin didn't seem to make the connection (likely, Dalinar doesn't sound exactly like himself), Dalinar himself confirms he was the one speaking to accept the Words in his next POV chapter. It's pretty obviously setting Dalinar up to inherit Honor's power directly though his bond, as the Stormfather keeps expressing how his powers seem to go beyond that of a normal Bondsmith. But I do agree the things specific to Kaladin seems significant too, and there's likely something else at play here. It could go either way.

Yeah, I realized that after I posted it and went back to reread. And yes, it's been moving towards Dalinar inheriting Honor's power for sometime now. It's interesting that Cultivation has directly intervened with three characters we know of...Taravangian has assumed Odium, and Dalinar may inherit Honor. Lift hasn't been super important yet, but I wonder what Cultivation plans for her. Possibly replacing herself? We know she had a relationship with Tanavast, but not a whole lot more.

The son of Tanavast thing is going to be significant for something, I'm sure. looking forward to seeing why that is.

Yes, bonus doubler can stack like that. It was his weapon and bonus doubler would each give in combat buffs equivalent to the blue buffs on each stat. I don't use Marth, but Wrath sounds like a pretty nice skill for him that is accessible.

Spent my 250 orbs on this banner. Came out with :
2 Triandra (-spd + res, -spd + atk)
1 Corrin (-spd +atk)
2 Hel (-atk, +hp, -hp + res)
1 Leif merge
1 Eliwood merge

I'll probably merge the Hels and keep a Triandra manual. Corrin's bane is unfortunate. I will probably hold her until I get another.

Maybe next time, Freyja

Dawnshard isn't necessary to read RoW imo. There are a handful of connections to it, but I don't think they are critical. There's a year between RoW and Oathbringer so those things should fit in pretty naturally.

You will know a couple details about how Dawnshard must end if you were to read it later, but it doesn't give a lot away. Depends how you feel about that.

@Yankees Lord Of Scars is a name uses for Kelsier at multiple points in the Mistborn series, he's def the Ghostbloods leader.

I don't remember that specific name, but Lord of Scars does seem like a clear indication for him coupled with the fact that Wit threatens to kick his ass again. It's been a long time since I've read the series so I could have forgotten. Anyway, we do have this...

For narrative purposes this, seems unlikely, but Honor wasn't splintered like the other Shards were; Roshar wasn't fucked up due to his passing, and the Cognitive Realm is fine. Could be setting up for an eventual Ascension by Kaladin later

I do think someone will be taking up that shard, and it could be Kaladin. Still, not really sure where that voice is supposed to come from.

Taravangian wasn't kidding when the Diagram said he should become king of everything. It's more satisfying endgame for him than saving one city.

some other points I found interesting.

Leshwi said that the spren finally forgave them once one bonded Venli. There's still a lot we don't know about the beginning of the war. I think we were previously told that singers sided with Odium after the spren chose the humans. I wonder why the spren felt betrayed by the singers.

I didn't catch much more on the whole Dalinar/Unity thing. It was great to see him connect Kaladin to Tien in the spiritual realm. It was interesting that Kaladin's fourth ideal was not accepted by the Stormfather, but by someone else who sounded familiar. Unity? Tanavast? There must be something to the Stormfather referring to Kaladin as Child of Tanavast when he refers to others as Children of Honor instead.

I finished reading it today. Couldn't put it down, and can't wait to see where the series goes next. Spoiler filled ramblings.

It felt more like Navani's book than Venli's. Navani's arc was really satisfying, and Raboniel was a more interesting character than I first expected her to be. Bonding the Sibling and repelling Moash was a great moment.

Kaladin's fourth ideal was what I long suspected it would be. It is nice to see him get there, and develop a more mutually supportive relationship with Syl. Teft's death along with his spren was heartbreaking. I had previously been interested in a Moash redemption arc, but not anymore.

Restares is Kalak, and Thaidakar is pretty much confirmed as Kelsier. Didn't really see that coming. The Ghostbloods are potentially responsible for delivering Ulim to Venli - that woman is likely Terris and was potentially compromised by the other Terrisman who Mraize clashed with. Lift's got that chicken/Aviar now which should be fun. Adolin and Shallan have finally declared war on the Ghostbloods.

The Recreance was a joint decision between spren and the radiants. There weren't any deadeyes prior to this. Seems like the imprisonment of Ba-Ado-Mishram is intertwined with this and the Sibling's slumber. I'd like to see more on this. Kalak seems convinced it was a bad idea to imprison her, but it's hard to imagine him taking much action in his current state. The only thing he is sure about is that he wants out. We were given some hope that Jezrien may be trapped within the gem, but Kalak is certain he has faded. It's amusing that the other Heralds consider Ishar the sane one. Those experiments were twisted.

Taravangian's Ascension is terrifying. I wasn't expecting Nightblood to meet Odium in this book. Cultivation and Renarin bet on him so I assume Renarin must have seen a benefit to that path. Cultivation is harder to judge. Her vessel is heavily implied to be dragon. Harmony states that In truth, it would be a combination of a Vessels craftiness and the powers intent that we should fear most.. I'm looking forward to how he will twist the terms of the contract to his benefit.

Wit losing his memories at the end is awful. Storing memories in his Breath is how he's maintained his sanity. He appears to have lost his perfect pitch so he likely has lost a significant amount of Breath, or perhaps had them corrupted in some way.

I was hoping to see Zahel make a reappearance after his chat with Kaladin, but that was never touched on. I guess he traveled with Dalinar or hung low during the invasion. Still waiting to see more from Taln as well. The Stormfather confirmed him as the best fighter. Not a surprise, considering he is the Herald of War.

I got two Byleths within 50 orbs. Both with speed banes so I will merge them. I haven't pulled the trigger on changing the nature for any of my grail units yet. Kronya and Minerva could switch to +atk and +spd respectively. Minerva is pretty plain right now though. Spd/Def Rein and Wyvern Flight are probably where I want to be with her. I'm leaning towards going in on Ninja Hana. I have DC, NFU, and Repel available to work with. Possibly Ruptured Sky if I choose to get rid of my only M!Byleth.

I think Nagi is still quite good out of the box. She just needs the Quick Riposte seal. Sothis is good too, and doesn't come with the anti-dragon weakness. She should be available again on this month's legendary/mythic banner. F!Tiki is probably still good, but not what she once was.

I agree that Fae is good to play support. Or you could put Hone and Fortify dragons on one of them to buff the team.
