He's saying that he believes every child needs both kinds of love, even if it comes from outside of their parents. Like a kid having a father figure that's not their actual father.

And, again, there's a fuck ton of actual research on the impact that father and mother figures have on a developing child, whether they're a parent or someone else in their life.

But those children literally do not have a father and a mother figure. So what, one of the parents has to essentially "transition" to the other role? Or does a third opposite sex parental figure need to be brought in to the fold?

I don't see any issue with this, being required to play it doesn't affect normal people, besides our national anthem compared to some other developed countries isn't bad at all.
