Maybe a weird choice but I think my favorite might have been the one where Hurley and the gang fixed up the van. Just a really nice bonding/feel good episode with enough lore to make it not a totally filler episode, plus that kickass TDN song.

EDIT: Oh yeah, The Constant is probably up there too. And the last few episodes of season 3.

"Tricia Tanaka is Dead" is such a good episode. It's a wonderful breather episode, remembering just how great characters interacting with characters on a crazy island can be, especially amongst all the DHARMA / We have to save Jack / You're gonna die Charlie drama happening.

I remember treating the episode as sort of a benchmark.
"Did you do more as an episode for me than the one where the guys drink warm beer out of a skeleton's can? Okay, cool. You're probably top twenty-five.

Oh, you have lots of lore and some cool moments, but nothing I really want to watch as a whole again? You're not better than Shambala.

Mmm, that topic series was so good. Loved reading the responses nearly every day, and seeing some episodes I didn't like with a new perspective.

LTDA, TtLG, and The Constant are definites. Season 1's "All the Best Cowboys Have Daddy Issues," "...In Translation," and "Exodus Part 1" make at least top twenty without any effort. Looking over Season 2... "The 23rd Psalm" and possibly "The Long Con". "Flashes Before Your Eyes" and "Greatest Hits" definitely. Everything from "The Brig" out really. Season 4 I'd have to watch again. Season 5's "Jughead," "LaFleur," and "The Incident" rank huge, and Season 6's "Ab Aeterno" is a definite, though I'd need to watch 6 again.

Desmond > Locke > Eko > Hurley > Sawyer? I feel like Sun and Sayid were real high, too, but I don't remember much right now from late S2 aside from Hatch stuff and the Others' village.

S3 is definitely choppy throughout. Juliet rises from the bottom early towards the top fairly quickly. Locke drops off a cliff (blowing every fucking thing up will do that). Benry is a big yay, as is Desmond. Charlie finishes up on a high note. Sawyer is more fantastic than ever. Mikhail/Patchy needed to be in more episodes, and we didn't get nearly enough Tom. The rest of the Others were eh, and Naomi was decent but forgettable. Lot of good Rousseau, too. Oh, and Alpert and Jacob.

Sawyer > Desmond > Charlie > Ben > ...Jin? Hurley?

Season 4 is all over the place. Jin, Faraday, Lapidus, Sawyer, and Desmond in the tops, no discussion needed.

Season 5 is all about Sawyer and Juliet, with a side of Hurley. Lots and lots of character assassinations, though, Sayid and Sun especially with a side of absent Claire. Ben and Jin still amazing.

Season 6... blah. Jack has been getting awesome since the tail end of 5. Desmond, Hurley, Ben, Miles, Sawyer, Lapidus...

So overall top five, beginning to end?

The best way I have described the finale since the day it's aired is "beautiful, but pretty bad." I felt the fact they barely bothered to actually answer any mysteries was a huge let down and when they used the excuse "Well it's always been about the characters!" I wasn't really into that idea because I felt like the last season was pretty bad in terms of character development as well. I thought the purgatory stuff was just... not a good or interesting idea and was ultimately worthless aside from trying to provide a "feel good" kind of ending. Ultimately, it just left me feeling detached and uncaring about any of it.

That said, it was my favorite show to watch and follow until that last season that led to so many amazing moments and stories. It sucks, but I can't really get past the disappointment of that last season to appreciate it all again though.

I think Lindelof and Cuse learned a ton from the show, and I've really enjoyed pretty much every show they've done since, and they don't seem to fall into the same issues that Lost did. If you like Lost, check out the other shows they worked on after.

Yes. This. "The Leftovers" is 'it was always about the characters' done correctly. You can't give us that line of crap when you make Sayid into an evil puppet, have him say something nihilistic and empty once and a while, and then sacrifice himself because he fixed the bomb but didn't know how long the batteries would last. You make Claire a crazy 'Rousseau-lite' and don't give her anything but be a crazy jungle girl until Kate can save her. You make Sun run around the fucking island for a season and a half asking everyone and their mother 'Have you seen my husband?' except for the one episode she has where she falls and can't speak English anymore? And she and Jin are reunited after like three seasons just to die. I know it's specifically two, but IIRC Jin and Sun were pretty separate in Season 4 as well what with the 'How does Jin end up dying?' flashforward teases. Every new introduction gets completely shafted, especially Ilana. The Charles Widmore/Desmond/Ben stuff that had huge intrigue and great cliffhangers over the years ends as a complete dud of a story. The fucking Temple. The FUCKING Temple. I don't remember enough about Sawyer's and Kate's stuff to comment on their full journey over the season, but I liked Kate caring about Claire and fucking hated her shooting Smokey. Also Miles was awesome and not utilized enough. Still hate all the lore about Smokey taking control of people it talks to (Sayid, Claire), nothing actually coming of that in any satisfying way, and Miles dodges Smokey's appearance like five times and they do nothing with that either. The only people well-serviced by Season 6 outside of their individual episodes (and even then most of their characters get shit outside the sideways intrigue) are Jack, Hurley, and maybe Ben, Kate, and Sawyer. Desmond's sideways episode is fucking amazing, but he does jack all until he recorks the island because he turned the key in the hatch look its a callback remember that?'

The big mystery and constant teases that the Sideways had some cause-and-affect with the current happening post-Incident was annoying, but the flash sideways themselves were pretty cool overall. Good character work, some actually good callbacks unlike island attempts at nostalgiabait, and it felt more story-driven than the main stuff. I also really enjoy the finale itself, and thought it did a great job wrapping everything up and giving some beautiful, heart-melting and heart-rending moments.

But FUCK Season 6.

And as a note about the outrigger thread, they introduced it, they planned on it being themselves/one of their groups shooting at themselves, and IIRC plotted Ilana specifically to be the one to shoot them or be in the boat. And they had like an outrigger scene every other episode after that first one like "Oh, is this when that happens?" and it never does, and they just fucking 'HEY REMEMBER WHEN ARZT BLEW HIMSELF UP WITH DYNAMITE?' and kill off a character because hack writing.

Twilight Princess is a series of hype bubbles bursting.

Mounted combat! Pretty much only used in the Western field and the final boss, IIRC, and the Western Field is just annoying to traverse after a while.

Zelda has a sword! She only uses it in the endgame, iirc. She's still the princess, you still have to rescue her from Ganon.

New characters, new town, new villain, new story! Pretty much done with in the first half to go back to the triumvirate, even bringing back the ghost(?) Of Ganon.

Massive world to explore! Super detailed beginning of the game areas, but like 60% of later areas are just empty space, or a rafting/snowboarding minigame.

Well, what about exploring what there is to explore? Enjoy learning how much rupees are worth every time you open a chest.

Awesome items! That barely function or get used outside their dungeon and one or two puzzles. The Spinner? So much fucking fun to ride on rails. So little fun to go a few feet in an open field. Double Clawshot? Let's Spider-Man through the world! Oh, there's only clearly marked spots to claw now and no longer a wider variety of chainable surfaces like in Ocarina of Time or swing from in Wind Waker. Rod of Dominion? Yeah that fucking sucked even in the dungeon you found it in, and you're already disappointed by the Clawshot and Spinner and know this is just gonna be used on the very few statues you've seen and nothing else.

Three Dark Links! Come on, that's so cool! ...Except they just show up in one or two confusing cutscenes. Maybe you fight them as a Wolf once. I dunno. Trailer bait.

It's a good game, but it's a disappointing game. It shows off some cool things for you to do and play with, but doesn't give you the freedom to play more. It's like being given a cool new toy, but only strict ways to use it like... a yo-yo but you can only go up and down and not do any tricks. Even you try to do tricks or spend hours practicing at it, it only goes up and down (if up at all).

Even the introduction level is like that. Beautiful new town, new characters to interact with, a legend to get started on. You can't wait, you're excited, but before you can continue you must do a series of menial tasks and fetch quests before you can even begin, a minimum of an hour's time no matter if this is the first time doing it or the hundredth. You want to go out and explore the world and fight the moblins and save the princess and be a wolf and chat with Midna, but you need to be taught how to catch cats and wrangle sheep and use a slingshot (that will get used never again).
