But yeah, I think initial impressions themselves were hit or miss, too. I mean, pre-game hype was real because the graphics were (and are) amazing, Wolf Link is a cool feature, the map was huge, Zelda had a sword, there was a darkness to everything, and it just looked like a really cool game. And the first two dungeons were great!

But there was also the hour-long tutorial section that started the game out a bit rough (especially considering many of the elements and characters are no longer utilized after the second dungeon). And once you begin opening up the map... it's a lot, a LOT, of empty space. Hell, one big section that takes up 20-30% of the map is just an empty snowboard minigame... Then you get to the large amount of useless inventory, the Poe quest, abrupt turns in the story for little reason, and it's just... eh. Some days I miss it, but never enough to go out and look for it again.

Brought my charger to work today. Would've done it sooner but work's been a mess lately and I wanted to limit my time. Spent a lot of sidetime today getting the small stuff done: grinding up the Substone grid, refurbishing my teams, grinding out the new summer event stuff, finally beating Phantom Tower. Even decided to just use the 5000 gems I'd saved. No new SSRs, but got to max out Dezel, and got a few more sword memoria to ascend and grid. I have quite a few bows that I'm thinking of gridding later when I can field 9 good ones.

I rather enjoy them.

He's obviously no Billy Mays, but the ads feel like late night informercial nostalgia. The good ones, not the terrible pill pushers or religion donations or "Oooh, coins!"

And I like them better than a lot of the other Youtube ads.

Man, I thought Tower was going to be hard or something with everyone talking about things like abusing WIldfire, Poison, Burn, etc.

I was able to just brute force my way through it at all without taking anybody who utilizes status effects. Vicious, Leon, Lloyd, Kanonno, Estelle, QQ is who I used. Didn't even bother changing teams for status purposes so in some stages some of my team was dead weight.

Still stuck on Floor 25. I need a better healer probably.

My take, still:

It was all in the writing. The booking was solid. Why not have Roman go after the top title after the break up of the Shield? The Authority has power, and getting that title would put egg on the face of The Authority. The problem is they never acknowledged the break up of the Shield or motivation of Reigns beyond being groomed for the Main Event. All the momentum of the breakup went to Ambrose vs. Rollins, and Reigns played no part in it. He didn't really acknowledge either member for months, and there was no promo or conversation or explanation why he moved on so easily, especially contrasted with Ambrose eating up all that babyface revenge momentum practically for the rest of his run.

Another big one was the injury. It happened, it sucks, and we wanted to see Reigns come back.

But just not via satellite letting us know how he's doing every other week. Especially when I believe someone else around the same time had a bad injury too (don't remember who) and got nothing. The first time we got a satellite of Reigns' rehab, it just cemented, "Oh. He's the push. He's being groomed for Rumble and Wrestlemania. It's Batista again one year later." Doesn't help at all the shitty shit shit shitty shit Rumble with Kane and Big Show conveniently turning on each other near the ropes and The Rock for no reason with the hand raise.

Oh, and the sufferin succotash promos. My god. The Sheamus program could've been really good if all the writers were fired.

Roman is really good in the ring and turning the audience from loathing and disinterest into fascination and cheers, and he can be a good promo when he's driven and natural. But the WWE just really really likes to serve up shit sandwiches from everyone.

It's actually incredible how good Drew has been as a babyface champion, not just in the ring but also building up hype for matches.

Drew vs. Ziggler was actually a good build!!!!!

Notes:

Opening reminds me kind of Paper Mario so far with how the camera moves and the character sprites are on the environment.

Kind of fun, might play some more.

Biggest downside so far is rubbing and rotating directional buttons have caused my screen protector to slip and come loose.

Vesperia might have the worst sidequest content of the modern series. Truly mind numbingly boring stuff. I actual got almost all the way through Vesperia Definitive and dropped it because I just couldn't handle doing it anymore, but also wasn't willing to just mainline to the end when I had already invested so much time trying to 100%.

This is coming right off of Abyss, which while a lot of it is a pain to activate, content wise is probably the BEST in the series by far.

At the very least, the compendiums seem doable though tied to colisseum and maybe kitchen stuff. I would loathe doing Zestiria/Berseria because of how their equipment upgrades work, and there's no NG+ carryover/incentive for making +10 items.

Overdue on refreshing my Arena team. Moved in some of my new Memoria, put in Rokurou over Lloyd/Yuri because they just weren't doing anything for my team, and moved out my awakened Gaius from anchor because my Fires weren't getting combo use and I have better options.

What option, I don't know. I haven't figured out what I want in my sixth yet. I like my team though.

Rokurou with a hopeful Wildfire on Velvet/Kohaku, followed up by Dezel doing AoE Poison and reaaaally taking down that Wind if Fire'd. Then Rita and Ludger for damage-dealing against type, often leaving Estelle around because she doesn't do too much damage and I can eat through defense fairly okay without worrying about healing. Got an awakened Misella in 5th for heals and defense boost.
