I know we've gone over that this isn't what you thought but apparently Biden was strongly considering Sanders for Labor Secretary but Sanders himself told him not to because he didn't want to risk the Senate Majority by creating a vacancy.

If Biden nominates any democratic senator from a state with a republican governor, he would be the dumbest person in the history of ever. So, yeah, any hopes of Sanders in the cabinet are about zero now (although he's fine in his current position tbqh!)

as someone who doesn't mind your anti-dem posts, i'll say that i'm pretty sure the vast majority of us hate the dems, with exceptions being LotM (obviously) and suprak (maybe). the amount of people here who think the dems are good enough is minuscule.

Broadly speaking, reconciliation is something that can only be used once per fiscal year when the House is working on the annual budget. They specify to one or more committees some instructions to follow in terms of targets in spending/revenue/deficeits and the committee has to make it work and the bill is privileged against filibuster. It also forces any Senate amendments to be germane to the bill instead of a free-for-all of jamming in stuff unrelated. And finally, though YMMV on whether this is a positive or not, the Senate can't throw in amendments that increase the deficit (though they can move to strike down House amendments that were saving money; they just can't offer their own that increase it.)

Reconciliation can't be used for things that have no effect - or incidental effect - on the budget, and can't increase the deficit for years outside the reconciliation window (I think this is typically a ten year window but may be subject to being defined by the House; this is also why a lot of Republican tax bills have tax cuts for the middle class - but not the wealthy - sunset after 10 years. The lock in the cuts for the wealthy and force Congress to face the choice of expiration or making permanent the cuts for most people at the end of that timeframe) If you try anyway, then in the Senate any such measures can be objected to and if the Senate parliamentarian finds it to be breaking one of those (or a few others but those are the main ones) then such a provision is struck from the bill and cannot be offered later as an amendment. You can bypass such a judgment by the parliamentarian with 60 votes but that defeats the purpose of using reconciliation to dodge the filibuster. Alternatively, I believe the VP can overrule them too. ...Or you can do what Republicans did in 2001 and just fire and replace them.

Couldn't the democrats just argue that everything in that bill is for the purpose of helping the economy recover? Even the $15 minimum wage (but especially all the COVID relief stuff)? Would they have to offset it by increasing taxes amongst the wealthy to make sure it is deficit neutral or would that not matter as a lot of this stuff would expire outside the ten year window?

Of course, this is assuming they have 50 votes which I'm not sure of at the moment.

While I don't see why they can't just give us 2k, I was under the impression that the 2k asking price was always taking the original 600 into account and adding money to equal 2k.

I'm down to three levels left to beat on my first playthrough.

I played this for the PS3 as some standard combat class (I forget which) and this time I wanted to try one of the more magic heavy classes. And...it's fairly broken. A lot of these bosses I'm just crushing. The combo of whatever the super strong defense spell is plus one of the stronger attack magic spells is borderline unstoppable.

i don't know how everyone else views their own scale but a 7/10 for me is still very good and something i would recommend to most. i would at least say to keep it in mind if you ever pick up prime or something.

also since you mentioned wanting to check out Parasite a week ago, it is on hulu in case you didn't know.

Ok so it looks like In Bruges is on Peacock, What We Do In The Shadows is on Kanopy, and I own Knives out, so those three I'd be willing to watch! I would be a no on the other two since I don't see a streaming option I have available.

Also just to make it official I am skipping The Sound of Metal. I don't have an easy way to stream it, and it has been getting tepid reviews so far here anyway so I think I'll just take this week off.

One final thing I've been toying with as i was writing things up. Is there some sort of weird parallel going on with the first game?

1-1 has Sakura trying to kill Leon, but then Sakura ends up getting killed instead. 2-1 has Nagito trying to kill someone BUT Byakuya stops him and gets killed instead by accident.

1-2 has the introduction of a serial killer who is revealed during the trial to have been part of the group all along, and 2-2 has the introduction of a serial killer who Peko pretends to be as part of her misdirect.

Like...not exactly the same thing for either scenario but some of the same beats. Is this a clue to something? Is there a parallel here I'm suppose to be seeing that means something? 1-3 was a double murder and 1-4 was a suicide so I guess I'll see where the game goes from here. Maybe I'm just seeing things that aren't there, but I do think the cases are mirroring the first game cases somewhat so far.

3. Chiaki Shes really the only helpful person besides Nagito in the trials so she most likely isnt going to die. Who would push things along if we get stuck? Shes sort of Kyoko-lite in that she serves as the smart, explain-y role that keeps things moving, but does so in a way that isnt nearly as intrusive as Kyoko. Sleepy gamer girl will be playing Pong on the flight home after she survives all this.

2. Hajime Hajime makes for a fairly good protagonist this far. One of my big problems with the last game was generic guy whose name I'll keep pretending to not remember never really did much on his own. He inspired those around him, but when it came time to figure out something, Kyoko basically did all the heavy lifting. It wasnt even a gentle nudge in the right direction, frequently she just sort of solved things for you if it got too tricky. So far, the game does a better job letting you figure things out on your own and Hajime really seems to be holding his own in the trial segments. Nice upgrade! Weird his special talent still hasnt been revealed, but well probably get that twist at the end.

1. Mikan Her this is my medical report clue is pretty much guaranteed to keep her around for the entire game now. Who else is going to fill that role? Im not convinced like half of these remaining people even have a full grasp of how the human body works, and certainly not enough to give a working opinion on how someone died. Mahiru dead due to a single blow to the head with a blunt object. No one else in the cast is going to get nearly that specific. Uhso it looks like her head is leaking some sort of juice and my professional opinion is that we should drink it. Thats the sort of thing that would replace it. Going through the characters I think will survive, there is actually a kind of strong comparison to those that survived in the first game. Akane is fake Hina, Hajime is fake whatever his name is, Chiaki is fake Kyoko, and Fuyuhiko is fake Byakuya. Those parallels are obvious. Ibuki serves as a pretty good Hiro stand in, since they are both kind of weird goofball dummies, so Mikan/Genocide Jill are really the only two that dont have a strong parallel. Mikan is more of a Chihiro what with all the extreme timidness than our girl GJ unless she has some crazy split personality shes been hiding so far. (I actually realized just writing this up that Sonia is probably a better comparison for Hina as the real heart of the group and maybe Akane OR Ibuki is the Hiro as a dumb comic relief. Whatever though this whole aside was kind of a stretch but Im not rewriting this list now but Ill remember it for the next POWER RANKINGS.)

13. Peko Peko joins the ranks of the fallen as the second executee. I really thought shed get killed, not be the killer due to her whole Ultimate Swordsman thing, but at least she got to go out in style. I was somewhat ambivalent about her character until this final courtroom segment, but she came through strong here. And her execution was top notch, too! Farewell, swordswoman. Maybe you wouldve lasted longer if you could have been bothered to talk once in a while.

12. Nekomaru Going through all the characters, I feel like he doesn't have a lot of characterization compared to most of the rest of the cast. I know the game is good about surprising me about victims being important up until now, but I really dont know where Nekomaru can go from here. Loudly yelling about bowel movements isnt a thing that you can really build a character around so unless he gets something else added to his character I cant imagine hes going to be around much longer.

11. Hiyoko Ive got a feeling she might snap now that Mahiru was murdered. And, not only was she murdered, everyone else here was way too oh no my poor Peko and Fuyuhiko sob sob while she seemed to be glaring at everyone like UH SHE MURDERED MAHIRU YALL REMEMBER THAT RIGHT. She already was calling everyone pig vomit fart sniffers, and now the only person she liked was murdered and everyone was throwing a pity party for the murderers. WATCH OUT MIKAN SHES GUNNING FOR YOU

10. Sonia Definitely the most adorable of the cast, and her weird random fangirl reactions to certain dumb things are some of the high points of each cases. Shes also this perfect level of smart enough to push the case forward but not quite smart enough to solve things for you, so you would think she might last a long while since shes very easy to write into the class trails. BUT theres been a weird Kazuichi/Sonia side story going on that I can definitely see the game doing something with in terms of MURDER MOST FOUL. They keep pointing out how obsessed with Sonia Kazuichi is, and I just think theres this chance the game does something with this coming up.

10. Kazuichi I like him and all, but Im running out of characters that seem like killers. Hiyoko for sure. Shes probably already killed someone by the time Ive finished writing this up. But then everyone else seems to just not have it in them. Kazuichi at least looks evil, even if he keeps acting like a gigantic coward. Hes another guy that could snap depending on what the motivation for the chapter is. Although after this last chapter, who knows. Monokuma seems to be getting lazy on his incentives this game.

8. Nagito Nagito is going to be permanently slotted in here for the rest of the game, I dont even care what happens from here on out. He will not be a killer, but hes going to be the final victim. Hes going to have some super absurd crazy complex thing that he set up. I have no idea whos going to take him up on the bait probably some secret psycho thats been hiding so far. But every single case hes like hey guys I will help you do it just kill me KILL ME KILLLLL ME I WANT YOU TO DO IT like the Joker in The Dark Night. There is no way he doesnt help the secret big bad orchestrate something in the final case.

7. Gundham Again Im just guessing at killers at this point because I have no clue. Fuyuhiko is getting a redemption arc, Akane is too dumb, Ibuki is too silly, Chiaki is too sleepy, and Mikan is too naked. That just leaves Hajime (outside chance of being big bad since he doesnt even know what or who he really is yet) and Gundham. I dont think the dude with the hamsters really strikes me as anything other than guy whos house smells really, really bad but hes my best option at this point. I did like his passive aggressive hissy fit about not being invited to the beach party this chapter though. Hajime is a straight up jerk for not inviting Gundham and his hamster friends.

6. Akane I am actually somewhat confident in my top six all surviving at this point, which probably means all of them around going to die next chapter in a tragic car crash. I suppose Akane is the one Im least sure of since she is pretty much the least defined character left outside of Nekomura. But she sort of has this niche that is half Hina due to her design and half Hiro due to her constantly saying dumb things. I dont think her and Nekomaru are both surviving this because they kind of have overlapping character traits, and I give her the edge on account of her personality.

5. Ibuki There really isnt a great reason for me to have her ranked this high, as most of the other characters I have here have various reasons for it, but I just sort of like her character. The first game also liked to keep around weirdos that werent TOO weird, and Ibuki fits that niche perfectly.

4. Fuyuhiko He seemed like the kind of character who would get a redemption arc, and were definitely seeing it now. Hell probably become better buds with everyone now that Peko has been sliced and diced into Peko cubes. Maybe hell stop being such a little dork now, but who knows. His personality has been ridiculously annoying until this last trial, but I have a feeling hes in it until the end now. The whole Peko thing seems like a good turning point for him, and well likely get a Byakuya-lite kind of character here when the game wraps up.

Oh and I lucked out a bit here based on my last rankings of characters in terms of how much I liked them! Peko was the absolute bottom of the cast for me outside of Fuyuhiko, and she is who I'd miss the least. She just didn't have any real personality, which maybe was a part of her "lol I'm just a tool" defense, but I remember almost nothing about her from the first case other than the fact she got hit by diarrhea. Bottom tier character for me this game for sure.

Characters I really like and would be sad to see go: Hiyoko, Sonia, Gundham, Nagito, Mikan, Chiaki
Good characters who aren't top tier but I still don't want to die: Ibuki, Hajime, Nekomaru, Kazuichi
Eh I guess these would be fine to make an exit: Akane, Fuyuhiko

Final thoughts and musing before moving on to a hopefully better Case 3:
Ok. First thing. Why the hell was Peko so wet? I get that she washed herself off. But the timeline here is crazy. She kills Mahiru and has Fuyuhiko run off at like 2:30. She washes off in the shower. She hides in the surfboard case and waits for Hiyoko to wake up. Hiyoko runs off. She finishes setting up the crime scene and escapes through the window. She walks over to the diner. I think this happens at like 3. That is half an hour. I'd get her hair being wet, but the picture they kept showing had her entirely drenched. Like there was water coating her body. HOW MUCH WATER DID YOU USE.

Was she completely nude during the murder? It is Danganronpa so I mean yeah I could see it, but if she got blood on her swimsuit, I cannot imagine that would come off with just bottles of water. Have you ever tried to get a blood stain out of something? Peko was clearly hiding some detergent somewhere too.

Fuyuhiko is now above the ranks of complete trash for me. The ending here really was excellent and I don't quite hate him as much as I did going in.

I don't quite know where to rank this one yet. Like up until the end this was easily my least favorite case in the entire series. I loved the Porky's style shenanagins with Kazuichi and Hajime and that whole set up was fun. The ending was great and Fuyuhiko and Peko crying hit hard. That execution scene was excellent. But the case itself was...kinda dumb? Peko's plan...er Fuyuhiko's plan...er...whatever that was just doesn't make a lot of sense. The whole Twilight Mystery aside was awful and I hated it. The trial was kind of a mess, and like I said I feel like half of the segments were obvious multiple choice questions. And the motive was the worst in the series by a mile and was basically a motive for literally one person. That isn't fun and Monokuma needs to do better. Lot of ups and downs on this one.

One final thing about the murder from the past. Did they explain what the hell happened and I just wasn't paying attention or was this whole thing kind of a mess? The window and fish tank are both broken, but that wasn't the breaking noise they heard? Sure ok so the vase was the distraction I get that. But why was the window broken? Why was the fish tank broken? Why didn't any one hear that but they heard the vase? Did Girl E break the fish tank to get the gravel?

And also A SWIMSUIT FULL OF GRAVEL WHAT THE HELL IS THIS? She choked a girl to the point of unconsciousness, but then was like "oh no I have to kill her now better stop asphyxiating her (which is working) and fill this swimsuit full of gravel because it is the most logical choice for a bludgeoning object"? What kind of absolute nonsense is that? I'm on board for nonsense in this series, but this isn't fun nonsense.

I don't have exact ranking right now, but so far 1-1>2-1 and 1-2>2-2. What is saving the game for me so far is the characters, who are leagues better than the first game, and I still like nonstop debates even if this case wasn't always a great example of them. Agreeing with statements and pulling out statements to use as clues both have a lot of potential (as does logic drive, honestly) so I'm hoping things get better from here!

I don't even think the game tells you this, but people found it out later. If you do two swipes in the same direction and then a third in the opposite direction, that third swipe will do double damage. So if you go Left->Left->Right, the right swipe will be SUPER EFFECTIVE.

• Ya know, Im actually doubting Fuyuhikos whole no I was looking for reasons not to kill her and Im actually good at heart I just wanted to talk to Mahiru schtick considering the fact he hid the murder weapon under a bench and drugged Hiyoko before Mahiru got there. Wow good talk Im glad we did this. Also, no big deal, but there is a girl that is unconscious in the closet. I may or may not have drugged her to frame her from your murder. Also I am pulling out this giant metal bat from under the bench, which I may or may not have planning to use to club you to death. Well all laugh at this later, I swear!
• Peko apparently snatched the bat from Fuyuhiko to murder Mahiru before he could to protect him from punishment for the murder. Just how slow is Mahiru, anyway? She wasnt ambushed, watched Fuyuhiko grab the bat, watched Peko run over, watched her snatch the bat from Fuyuhiko, and stood there and let herself get bludgeoned to death? She has the worst survival instincts ever. This all looks dangerous but I would be lying if I wasnt interested in where it was going.
• Peko has a tearful goodbye to Fuyuhiko after Fuyuhiko admits that he didnt want Peko to do this, and Peko makes us promise not to resort to killing again. Yeah, easy for you to say, murderer.
• Whoa, pretty excellent execution though. Peko goes through an entire army of Monokuma-bots before accidentally slashing Fuyuhiko who is desperately trying to get to her. While cradling him, she gets stabbed through the back and hacked to pieces by the rest of them. FATALITY.
• Oh snap is Fuyuhiko dead too? WHAT? WHAT IS GOING ON.
• Oh wait, hes alive and Monomi will save him! so hell probably die. Does the stuffed rabbit know basic surgery?
• Monomi points out it is spelled out in the school rules that only the blackened receive punishment at the trial, so if Monokuma lets Fuyuhiko die, he would be breaking his own rules. Aw yeah, nice save stuffed rabbit. Tricks are for rabbits, too.
• Hiyoko is not taking this everyone hoping Fuyuhiko gets better thing well. I cant blame her. Remember guys? He brought the metal bat? He was planning to frame Hiyoko before Peko even stepped in? He most likely killed Girl E (or had Peko do it)? He isnt a good guy in all of this. I know theyre going to give him a redemption arc, but Hiyoko is 100% right and yall are being dumb.
• There is a little bonus scene where Monomi is talking to.someone.and reveals that shes not sure its best if they let us leave the island anymore. What the hell does that mean? And also that if the time reaches zero, it will revive the ultimate despair. WHAT THE HELL DOES THAT MEAN? Surprise Junko resurrection? But how? Things getting interesting, though.
• Murder Plan Grade: F. F minus. Q. I dont even know how to grade this. Pekos whole plan here was to take the fall so Fuyuhiko could escape, which she does by trying her hardest to frame Hiyoko? Hey, uh, not to criticize your genius plan here, but maybe if you wanted to save Fuyuhiko by convincing Monokuma you were acting as his tool, you probably shouldnt have tried to frame a third person for it. What if it worked, you moron? We vote Hiyoko and then shes like AHA YOU FOOLS IT WAS ME WHICH MEANS IT IS ACTUALLY FUYUHIKO WHICH MEANS HE GETS TO LEAVE AND wait why are you killing him and everyone else oops I probably shouldve checked the technicalities to see if I counted as a tool or not before doing it, huh? This is the least competent frame myself plot Ive ever seen. If her goal was to allow Fuyuhiko to go free, she did literally everything wrong. Do you know how easy it is to frame yourself? Especially when you did it? Also Fuyuhikos plan seemed to be to frame Hiyoko toobut how was he planning to get out? Clearly he doesnt want Peko to die so was he planning to just sit there in Mahirus blood and take the blame. He couldnt climb out the window like Peko did so was he just going to leave Hiyoko there? It seems like this plan was planned with the intention of Peko carrying it out from the beginning, but also not with her carrying it out from the beginning.
• Case Grade: D+. I loved the ending here, and that is all that saves this case from being my least favorite of the series so far. It was emotional and well written and just great all around. I just am not a fan of this case overall, though. I hate how the motive here targets only one person and that pretty much cuts out a pool of suspects from the beginning. The whole aside with figuring out the murder from two years ago or whatever was HORRENDOUS. It didn't make sense. Getting the clues was not fun. And "swimsuit full of gravel" might be the dumbest, least logical use of the nonstop debates to this point. Case 2 in game 1 was leagues better, and so far this is a game with better characters but worst cases. I dig some of the gameplay improvements, but a lot of these minigames are just straight up bad and getting in the way of the fun. This case in particular had like half of the questions be multiple choice, and that just isnt fun.

• Peko doesnt object, but Fuyuhiko pulls out his binky and starts screaming, so I have to defeat him in another panic time action mini-game. I have no idea if Im suddenly bad at rhythm games, but it keeps telling me I miss, even when I appear to be hitting. I dont know whats going on. Maybe Im wrong, the screen is so freaking busy during this segments it is hard to see what is going on for sure.
• Ok, I went back and redid this because I had a save state right before it started. It took some experimenting, but what I was supposed to do was HOLD down the button, keep it held down, and then release it at any point on a subsequent beat. I don't know if I wasn't reading closely, but I don't think the game was clear about this. It has been a while since the first case so maybe I just forgot.
• Peko admits it and encourages us to hurry up and vote. Uhseems very un-killer like to me there. Thus, I cannot drink the wine in front of me.
• Chiaki insists we cant vote until we figure out the motive. BORING. Once you and the killer get done hugging and talking about what a hard childhood they had, can we get back to throwing her into a live volcano?
• Peko goes on a five minutes tangent about justice being a smiling father and dancing mother. Or something. The weirdness went over my allowed limit and I kinda tuned it out.
• Oh cool now Peko is claiming to be Sprakling Time Pretty Pretty Justice. Hopefully this turns out to be a weird ruse otherwise this is officially the dumbest case in the series.
• Alright who gave Peko the stupid princess mask? Did she carry this in? How did we not notice?

• Everyone takes turns commenting how crazy and weird this is. Cool, Im not the only one.

• Apparently Sonia Sparkling Justice Stalker Nevermind knows that her hero is a different nationality, thus eliminating Peko from being Sparkling Justice. Way to go, imposter. Next time try pretending to be someone that Sonia doesnt have a fanclub for.
• Now that weve already named her guilty though, Peko comes clean and says she was just the tool Fuyuhiko used to kill Mahiru. So Fuyuhiko was the real blackened even though he didnt kill her and should go free. I dont think thats how it works. Right?
• Well that at least explains all the confusion behind why the two were protecting each other. I couldnt drink the wine in front of me or you! Some jerk had poisoned them both.
• I just realized one of the photos Fuyuhiko got as an ending prize was a picture of the murdered corpse of his sister. Damn, no wonder he went crazy. Again though, this is a super bogus motive that basically was only directed at one person.
• I also dont get Pekos defense here. He told me to do it so Im not the real murderer he is But did you kill her Yeah but it didnt count Im just a tool Nah youre a person There. Resolved. Everyone happy?

• Oh, so Peko is a hitman of the Kuzuryu clan assigned to follow Fuyuhikos orders. Shes still the murderer though. I mean I guess Id convict them both, but we didnt have the option of voting for two. You cant just go I was told to kill that person and expect the judge to go phew for a second I thought you were a murderer you can leave.
• Aw baby Peko and Fuyuhiko are adorable in the flashback pictures. whyd they give her a little baby sword though? That seems dangerous. Bad parenting, Kuzuryu clan.
• Apparently Fuyuhiko actually just wanted to talk to Mahiru at first, but then Mahiru told him he shouldnt have killed Girl E and that revenge wasnt the best idea. He responded by grabbing a metal bat and trying to kill her. Hey you shouldnt murder people. THAT MAKES ME SO MAD I COULD MURDER
• Pekos brilliant plan was to frame Hiyoko for the murder, and then to make it look like Sprakling Justice was the killer if things went wrong. Hey, genius, why bother going through eight layers of complexity like that? If you wanted to be found guiltywhy not put in evidence to implicate yourself? Oh right, because then the trial wouldnt be long enough. Still, though
• They start asking Fuyuhiko if Peko was really ordered by him to do all this, and both Fuyuhiko and Peko looked panicked. Uh, wouldnt Monokuma already know this ruse was a lie if you didnt? Seems like a pretty weak lie, then.
• There is a semi-sweet flashback scene where Fuyuhiko and Peko both argue with each other about letting one take the fall for the other so the other can get away. It is made somewhat less sweet by the baseball bat dripping with blood that Peko is holding, granted.

• Oh great, now Hiyoko set off Sonia on a Sparkling Justice tangent. I have no idea why Sonia always looks all hot and bothered when she talks about Sparkling Justice, but serial killers get this chick going.
• Hiyoko is saved by the fact that the idiot killer brought some generic gummy to the crime scene while Hiyoko only eats a specific brand. I know that feeling, Hiyoko. Haribo or die.
• Peko makes an oops face when Hiyoko says she doesnt eat yellow gummies. Thats a weirdly obvious slip for the killer this early into the case which meansobviously she cant be the killer! So, again, I cannot drink the wine in front of you.
• Hiyoko proclaims she will get her revenge on the person framing her by bopping them on the head with all her might. Easy there, tiger. You might bruise your fist.
• Fuyuhiko goes crazy that Hiyoko has to be the killer because Mahiru blocked the door and that forced her to go through the front door, which is disproved immediately by Mikans autopsy report. This is why you need to show up to the briefings we have, champ.
• Also if Mahiru was killed by a single swing of the bat, that is an absurd amount of blood on the door. Its like they exploded her head with one swing. Now it cant be Fuyuhiko, as evidence by the fact he has the body type of a ten year old girl.
• Hey Fuyuhiko, why do you keep insisting that Hiyoko is the killer? Good question, Hajime. This is why you are a superior protagonist to whoever Kyoko dragged along the entire time last game. I forget his name. Gary? Fucking Gary, man.
• Rebuttal showdown sucks so hard. What a terrible mechanic. First, its like a normal nonstop debate but you cant enjoy the arguments because you need to swipe through them before they disappear. On top of that, I cant determine why the hell some swipes do more damage than others. I ran out of swipes like eight consecutive times against Fuyuhiko and it turned out I needed to do a diagonal swipe on a couple because that made it take two instead of three. Oh, and I didnt even know I could run out of swipes. Oh, and the whole thing is not fun. I have no idea why Danganronpa insists on forcing these awful minigames in here in the first place.
• Fuyuhiko sure does seem like he wants to pin this on Hiyoko. Why, if hes not the murderer? But why would he be so obvious throughout the entire case, and why would the game point directly at him and say hes the most likely to be the murderer through the motive since the beginning? So clearly, I cannot drink the wine in front of you.
• Awww poor Hiyoko has a scene where she says she couldnt have killed Mahiru because Mahiru was nice and they were friends. The little psychopath does have a heart after all!
• Hmmsomeone wrote a similar letter to Hiyoko asking to meet her at 2:00 at the beach house (the same time they originally planned) while Mahiru got a letter changing the time to 2:30. Hey, uh, Hiyoko, who overheard you saying you were going to meet with Mahiru at 2:00? Because theyre probably the killer.
• Nekomaru confirms the handwriting of the two letter matches up, proving the killer manipulated the two of them to frame Hiyoko and kill Mahiru. Way to go, Ultimate Handwriting Analyzer.
• Sloppy killer mightve wanted the swipe Hiyokos letter back after they knocked her unconscious or whatever they did. Good job leaving a massive clue on her person because you were too lazy to check her pockets. Either that or maybe Hiyokos otherworldly b.o. kept them away.
• Nagito now complains that the killer didnt let him help on their plan. Akane responds by suggesting we can just lightly punch him to death later. Mm, good call fake Hina. First thing youve said all game Ive been on board for.
• New mini-game! Its called Logic Drive and you ride around kinda like SSX Tricky and answer questions about what probably happened about some specific event. It is a little boring, which makes it 1000x better than the other minigames Ive played so far.
• Using Logic Drive, we deduce the killer was hiding in the Beach House! wait, isnt that what we literally said seconds before I started the Logic Drive? Eh, fine, this was just the tutorial Logic Drive anyway I guess.
• You spent all that time thinking just to say something so pointlesshow disappointing Agreed, Hiyoko. Im now imagining the room is dead quiet as everyone stares at Hajime, who has his eye closed and occasionally makes a little jumping motion. Logic Drive just got even better.
• We now have to pick out where in the closet the killer was hiding. Hajime insists it was in the surfboard case, but I know it was along the back in the wetsuits, hung up with their arms, legs, and head peaking out.
• Ibuki justifies the killer hiding in the surfboard case with the logic Its kinda like in for a penny, in for a pound, so to speak. To which Nekomaru responds, Dont you meanits always darkest under the lighthouse? What the hell are you two idiots arguing about? Focus on the case for like three seconds, please.
• Ill listen to your story about men from the future some other time me, trying to ignore my five year old nephews over the holidays. (Also Nagito trying to get Monokuma to shut up about some fake anime)
• Hm. Nagito points out three people other than the killer found the body before the announcement went off. Kazuichi, Hiyoko andum? Someone who isnt saying. Is it possible Peko/Fuyuhiko saw the body too which is why theyre both being weird? But why cover for the other? Good sportsmanship?
• Oh cool you can use testimony in a nonstop debate as a truth bullet in addition to the normal truth bullets. Nice addition. It makes the non-stop debates more complex. I like all the improvements to the non-stop debates this time around! If only the game wasnt so insistent on throwing in pointless mini-games that get in the way of all the fun.
• Peko now goes fully defense mode and I have to minigame slash her to prove someone couldve washed the blood off using the dozens of empty bottles of water in the trash can. TAKE THAT. Umnot to criticize your whole well thought out murder thing Peko, but couldnt you have, I dunno, just jumped into the ocean which was ten seconds away to wash off instead of leaving this very obvious clue? I guess that wouldve left footprints, but there has to be some way around that.
• This also proves soaking wet Peko had to be the killer. Nice job not bringing a towel to your murder, dummy. Also unless you rolled around in the blood to make blood angels, you couldve done without soaking your entire body head to toe with water and not been so obvious when you showed up to the diner. Youre losing points the more I think about this, Peko.
• Huh. Fuyuhiko is now jumping to her defense to say he totally saw her on the way home from the diner and she definitely was swimming. Why? WHY FUYUHIKO? Did she threaten you? Did you two work out some sort of package deal where you both held the bat and swung it at the same time? Did you fall in love with her swimsuit body? WHAT IS IT MAN?
• SNAP. Hajime points out he just said he never say anyone on his way back. Feels so good to not need boring ol Kyoko figure everything out for me.
• Ugh. Hangmans Gambit time. Hajime uses magic flying letters to prove that Peko used her bamboo sword to escape. Im not sure thatll hold up in actual court, Hajime.
• Akane tells me ninjas know this trick where they use the handguard on their sword as a stepstool. Yeah, of course, howd I possibly not figure that out on my own? Also, Akane, you suck for not telling us all that like twenty minutes ago.

Chapter 2: THE TRIAL OF THE CENTURY (or not but that's ok too) thoughts and musings

• Man, Monokuma, we dont need a brief explanation of the class trial. We just did this like two days ago. Although, considering some of the people still alive in the group (*cough* Akane *cough*) maybe they already forgot so I guess good call.
• Nagito jumps into explaining how the Twilight Murder Syndrome is the motive this time around, and how some of the people here are characters in the game. SOME OF US ARE CHARACTERS IN A GAME? Nekomaru blurts out. Well, technically, all of you are, but some of you are characters in a game in a game. GAME-CEPTION DUN DUN.
• We then spend five minutes going through everyones role in the game. This riveting series of match the character with their obvious personality is only complicated by the fact I took a two day break since when I last played it and at first theyre just like who is girl A without any sort of reminder. JERK MOVE, GAME.
• Fuyuhikos defense as to why dead girl cant be his little sister is if she was the type to die easily, Id have fuckin killed her myself a long time ago YEAH IDIOTS. If she was my little sister, why didnt I kill her already? Huh? EVER THINK OF THAT SMARTY PANTS?
• Nagito covers himself in cooking grease and goes on another crazy aside about how it would be better if Fuyuhiko wasnt the killer because then the mystery would be more complex and HOPE would be more HOPEFUL. Or something. But, yeah, that is precisely why he isnt the killer, because they game couldnt make it that obvious since the motive was pointed at him.
• Oooookay, youre starting to act weird again. Says Kazuichi about Nagito. Yeah, uh, he never stopped.
• Also, this motive is pretty lame in comparison to the last game. Last game had a bunch of interesting could affect everyone motives. For example, Mondo was responsible for his brothers death in case two and he wanted that kept secret, but everyone was at risk of having their secrets exposed. Here it is just one guy that really has a motive. That writing isnt nearly as compelling, because now it seems like Monokuma is specifically targeting just one guy instead of letting chaos reign supreme. This is a motive that doesn't motivate at least half the cast at all for any reason.
• Akane proposes that Girl E is related to Gundham because her last name is Sato and Gundhams last name is plain, too. Great, Akane doesnt even know how last names work. This is why she will never be a murderer. Too dumb to pull something like that off.
• I-isthattrue? Girl E, sheshe killed the first victim Fuyuhiko, also apparently a big dumb dumb. I know he played the game since we found the note and saw him carrying the folder and in the game Girl E basically says I killed her because she was bullying you. So either Fuyuhiko is lying about not knowing or illiterate.
• Chiaki justifies her map making abilities by yammering on about old school games and how you had to make your own maps. Nekomaru saves us from another eight lines of dialogue about the good ol days by telling her to shut her yap and focus on the case. More Suprak cool points for Nekomaru.
• We them go about unraveling the mystery of how Fuyuhikos sister died becauseIm not sure. I get that this is the motive, but what the hell does it matter what the murder weapon was? Im not here to solve your cold cases, Monokuma.
• Im not sure I fully understand the scheme here. Girl E broke the window, locked the door, returned the key, but then ran to the next room and broke the vase so the other four girls would hear it? What would she do if they were running late or werent downstairs yet? Keep breaking vases until one of them alerted someone to come running?
• Also, I am trying to remember high school. I am almost 100% positive the sum total of vases in all the room I ever had a class in was zero. Because kids are idiots and would break them, regardless if it was to cover up a murder or not.
• If this keeps up, Im gonna feel like I need to shit phew Nekomara made a poop reference. I was beginning to worry that something was wrong with him since he hadnt talked about pooping for roughly ten minutes.
• Fuyuhikos sister was beat to death using a swimsuit full of gravel. Ah yes, the ol swimsuit full of gravel to the head murder. wait, how the hell was I supposed to know that? I had to present the swimsuit when Ibuki mentioned gravel, something I just sort of randomly guessed at because that is a pretty dumb choice for a murder weapon. Girl E was McGuyver, apparently.
• Also this case sort of undermines the whole Monokuma driving people to murder thing the series has going for it. Mahiru was actually an accessory to murder before this whole thing began, so, uh, yeah. And Fuyuhiko probably killed girl E so there's that. Setting up a huge murder game seems kinda pointless when some of these characters were doing it for funsies beforehand.
• She probablymade her unconscious by accidentA-and from there, she couldnt go backI-I somewhat understand that feeling. Uhreminder to myself to not get on Mikans bad side. Yeah I understand how sometimes things get a bit too far and then you just have to bludgeon someone to death with a swimsuit and then you kill a second person because they walked in on you and then you kill a third because they heard you make a noise and pretty soon youve killed an entire swim team thats happened to you guys, right?
• I try to show the case was related to the game first by showing the threatening note that says play the game and then remember what you did to my sister, then by showing the picture of Fuyuhikos sister next to a bloodied bat. Neither works. Apparently what I was supposed to show was the metal bat itself. Ah, yes, the old Phoenix Wright problem where multiple clues should work but only one does.
• Umwhy is Peko trying to dissuade us from believing Fuyuhiko is the murderer? Unlessmaybe she isnt the murderer? Doesnt make sense for the murderer to go hey guys cool down not him, maybe we should be looking in different directionLIKE ME.
• OH SNAP. Peko says it was Hiyoko instead, something we have a lot of evidence for. TOO MUCH EVIDENCE. Thus, it cant be Hiyoko. Silly Peko!
• Hiyoko scolds Nagito for collecting her footprint by calling him a pedo. Waitarent you guys the same age? I dont think it counts as pedophilia when you guys are in the same class in school I heard you started dating Amy. THATS DISGUSTING. Isnt she born in like May? What the hell is wrong with you, you pedophile!
• Hiyoko quickly changes her mind and says she did go to the beach house, but it was part of her innocent daily walk and nothing else. If you went there durin your mornin walk, that doesnt have anything to do with the case at all Akane. Someone take away her ability to vote on these cases please she doesnt deserve it.
• We disprove Hiyoko only went to the beach house during a morning walk with a letter than literally says Hey Mahiru this is Hiyoko lets meet up at the beach house at 2:30. Gotcha, jerk. Why the hell did she even write this letter in the first place? Couldnt she just have told Mahiru in person? Whats the point of this letter other than to provide evidence in this case?
• Oh wait, Hiyoko doesnt remember it because it was forged. Duh, that makes way more sense.
• Hiyoko cautions all of us that this has to be a trap. The real culprit? The one with the maskmaybe? OH SHIT, ZORRO? What the hell is Zorro doing here, killing people with impunity?
