I feel like all the Borderlands games are much worse than I remember
Honestly the first one was the best and that never changed. 2 had the more entertaining story just because it was less dry in general and I really liked Jack. But the guns have never felt more powerful than in the first game, and the loot was far better. Tons of chests with generous loot all over the place. Then in 2 you had to put Twitter codes in for that same result. I haven't played much of 3 yet but I was still missing those red chests with phat loot.

I don't particularly trust Gearbox with the IP, they strike me as a little inept as a developer in the same way Gamefreak is with Pokmon... It all feels a bit too jank and poorly thought out still after so many years to refine it but they'e selling great anyway so what do I know.

I loved the story and dungeons and boss fights.

But I couldn't stand the motion controls, and the overworld just mostly being an extended dungeon made everywhere that wasn't Skyloft feel lifeless.

Also those stealth sections were awful and Fi's constant intrusions were as bad as people exaggerate Navi's to be.

There's an amazing game tucked away in there, though. With some real tweaking it could be something special but I'm on the fence if I wanna go through it again without some serious QoL changes. The motion controls are now optional which is great but I'm a little dubious about the right stick, we'll see.

I actually liked Origins more than The Wolverine.

Origins was a mess of a movie that really did poorly for a bunch of characters but the good parts (Mainly Wolvie and Sabretooth) were pretty awesome.

The Wolverine was just boring, I've never felt a desire to watch it a second time.

Used to kick ass at CE on the PC back in my prime, even carry games. The switch to consoles just absolutely killed my ability to be competitive. I am awful at shooters with analog sticks, just truly terrible.

They did this for a lot of Mandalorian episodes too. Even if they didn't outright state the spoiler, the vague but hinting phrasing was often enough to put it together yourself assuming you're not completely new to Star Wars.

It's really annoying.

Similar case for me too. I hit around the 50 hour mark and though I had been enjoying the game a good amount, I was getting ready for it to end.

But I looked it up and was only like halfway. I was too burned out and just stopped, I'm not against the idea of going back to it, but I'll be surprised if I do.

It was all very charming and the battle system was nostalgic and kinda refreshing in a "I've missed this" kind of way but nothing in there was really intricate enough (especially plot and character development wise) to justify between another 30-50 more hours than I'd already done.

Yes it was a great game. I'm not sure what to compare it to.

But basically, think of it like Pokmon Garden (they should really make this). You create your own garden from scratch and the nicer it is and the more varied it is combined with other residents already living there - will eventually attract different creatures to show up and then live there if you hit all the requirements.

In a sense, you have to catch them all.

Though it does require multiple gardens, you can't make a single perfect one that will lure every creature. If you like games such as Rollercoaster Tycoon or such, it has a similar feel.

I honestly don't mind the police in the game. I don't go on random killing sprees or hijack cars or anything so if I ever end up Wanted, it's usually because of something dumb like I barely grazed someone. Being shot to death for that is stupid and I'm glad I then don't either have to reload my game or spend the next 5-10 mins in a time wasting chase.

For people who do wanna go on a rampage though, I totally get why it sucks but I also don't think the game was really built with people doing that in mind either.

Can't defend that the rest of the AI is pretty basic though.

The gameplay loop is a lot more like Assassin's Creed than I expected. I'd have definitely liked to see a little more Skyrim influence insofar as joining various factions/guilds with meaty side-stories.

Gameplay is great, I don't know how I'm pulling off charging in everywhere with nothing but a Katana and a few quickhacks. But by the time I'm done, heads are just all over the place. Very satisfying.

I do hope they do something about character customization eventually though. The way the loot system works, you're pretty much resigned to equipping whatever happens to drop as far as gear goes and very quickly look like a jester. For the most part you only see this on the inventory screen so it isn't too bad, mostly jarring, but if there are any 3rd person moments in the story, it's gonna be a real immersion breaker.

I think it's safe to say Origins tells a better, more concise story but Odyssey is mechanically a leap ahead.

There's a lot of cool systems to engage with in Odyssey, and the improved camera and dialogue choices elevates the sidequests massively compared to Origins' stale, zoomed out "Listen to NPC monologue at you about whatever crap they want you to find/kill" banal ones.

I enjoyed both of them a lot but I'm glad I played Origins first.

I completely disagree.

For me the modern stuff is like the hook for the whole series. It's actually a really cool concept that Ubisoft have fucked up time and again. The Desmond thing was borderline unforgiveable and rightfully turned a lot of fans off that aspect of the plot entirely, so as some kind of course correct they've minimized the relevance of the modern day... which pleases nobody.

People who like the modern stuff get shafted and people that don't still hate it.

South Park: Chef's Luv Shack kinda counts. But instead of a boardgame between the minigames, it was a quiz show.

Kinda loved it, despite it being so lacking in content that it was clearly a huge rip-off and not worth anything close to full price.

It surprised me too. Doubly so that it was for Stan and not Kyle (which would be the more obvious twist).

I expected them to walk it back somehow straight after but they didn't. Wonder if it'll mean anything going forward or if it was just a one-off.

There was a site called GameHippo that was purely for freeware games and it was the absolute best for it and I've never found anything that compared either back then or since (though to be fair it's been a long time since I've been into the freeware scene, if it even still exists). It had screenshots, reviews and even hosted a lot/most of the content itself. Another bonus was no spyware, viruses or intrusive ads, all of which were very common at that point.

I am so grateful for that website having kept young me entertained for so many hundreds/thousands of hours at zero cost. I was there every single day, it was as much my home on the internet as GFAQs still is today.

The domain got (understandably) sold and for unknown reasons the new owner(s) didn't do a thing with it since and just let it go offline. Some people built a new site not long after but it was kind of just a shadow of the original and mostly contained the greatest hits titles and was infrequently updated in comparison.

Basically this for me too.

I also think MP1 still has some of the best boards to this day. I loved that they were built around the games and characters. That mostly went away with the sequels as all the landscapes became kinda generically themed (like wild-west etc). Stuff like Peach's Birthday Cake, DK's Jungle Adventure, Yoshi's Tropical Island and Wario's Battle Canyon were more creative and fitting to me.

This must be like gear and skins and shit? Idk what youre referring to and I dont really care cus I dont buy that shit.
The passes for the base characters are also free and grinding those gives you enough credits to then get the DLC character passes for free too. So long as you're not in a hyper-rush for a specific character's cosmetics (because that's all they are) then you can feasibly never drop a penny and still complete every single pass.

I don't disagree but I kinda like that the option is there though. I did most of the game using drones/RC, it was rare to ever get into an actual firefight.

But at certain emotional story moments, it kinda gives it a bigger punch if you suddenly put away the peaceful stuff and start firing bullets.

That said, it was completely incongruent with the main character. The way he's presented in cutscenes is not as someone who has put bullets in heads. Definitely gotta suspend your disbelief for that one, even more so than in an Uncharted game.

It can take a little bit to get into the rhythm. I remember my first time through being surprisingly difficult, especially at boss fights. But eventually I was curpstomping my way through the hardest difficulty.

One tip I can remember is that Force Lightning is borderline broken so focus on upgrading that ASAP. It deals insane damage and often stuns enemies while you're hurling it at them. If you're ever feeling too pressured you can often cheese your way through a fight by falling back on this and running around to avoid attacks.

EDIT: Oh and for bigger enemies, keep an eye on your surroundings for stuff to throw at them, it deals a good bit of damage too. A combination of both that and lightning, you can drain health bars quickly.

I love games built around dialogue choices, as stressful as they can be sometimes it does add a lot to the investment and that's even true in games where it's just flavor text and doesn't effect anything.

Morality system though? I enjoyed them when I was younger but now I just find myself getting frustrated with those mechanics because it often means getting locked out of either dialogue or abilities if you're not always a saint or always a sinner (and sometimes the good/bad thing doesn't always feel like the right/wrong thing).

I preferred The Witcher 3's handle on it and heck, even the Telltale games where the game itself wasn't telling you that you did something right/wrong, but your choices would immediately piss off/please certain characters and maybe influence their own decisions in the future.

I do agree that Star Wars might be the exception to this though. At least as far as the Dark Side is concerned, it makes sense that it's something you steadily slip into as opposed to one big decision so there being a morality slider kinda works in that favor.

The minigames are great but they are really long and involved. It's a big ask for a player when they just want to unlock more skills and do more punching.

I've kinda come to expect it from the series though, it's as much part of it as the fighting to me now so I just sorta embrace the fact I'm gonna end up spending a big chunk of time doing something random and mostly unrelated each game.

If true, this was beyond stupid of him. Maul is currently on track to make a big return in live action. With Kenboi coming out, he very well could have been featured there with a live-action rendition of their final duel.

There's also a rumored Lando show in the works and assuming the timeline is roughly around that of the Solo movie, Maul would have been active and so there's potential there too.

Hopefully he just gets replaced with a different stunt-person and with Maul being so covered in makeup it won't be too noticeable. The big worry though is that Disney get skiddish of the association entirely and just ban Maul from future appearances altogether.
