I paid mostly next to no attention to it. The "Family suffers from a curse" genre of horror might be my least favorite kind of movie out there.

Nope, but it's been on my To Watch list pretty much since it came out.

I've seen parts of Sacred Deer. Sister wanted to watch it Christmas last year and I was in the room but not paying a whole lot of attention to the movie. Not my kind of movie so I think I was playing something on the 3DS and just sitting in the room for conversation purposes.

I've seen Kill Bill, Mad Max and Ex Machina, so I'll go ahead and just put the other two on there. Hoping for The Lobster as it was actually on my list of movies to possible nominate next time around.

Edit: Possibly coming out as possible has to be my most common typing mistake. I swear it comes out as 'possible' 100% of the time.

for the egg scene

did that make you want eggs or make you never want to think about eggs?

it was a "oh yeah eggs are a thing, i want them now" moment for me

Hard boiled eggs might be my least favorite way to eat an egg, but aside from that the scene didn't really affect me one way or the other.

On the other hand, the latter scene did kind of make me want to have a big plate of rice.

I know he's not in the same physical shape when the latter happens in the movie so he shouldn't be able to put away as much food as before, but that big plate of rice looks like a holiday compared to 50 eggs.

I loved horror movies growing up, but watching a lot of the older Friday the 13th and Nightmare on Elm Street movies these days feels like a chore. The same goes for a lot of the old Giant Bug/Creature genre of movies because the monsters are so hilariously fake I can't enjoy them. I used to watch them with my Dad growing up and I can even remember back then him laughing about how bad they looked. I've avoided rewatching Jason and the Argonauts for this very reason, it was one of my favorite movies as a kid but I'm certain I won't feel the same now so I don't want to bother screwing up a good thing.

Really struggling with the opposite, can't think of any movies I disliked at first but ended up enjoying after watching again later, mostly because if I don't like something the first time around it's probably going to be a very rare exception that I bother watching it a second time.

When the Wind Blows (1986)
Horus, Prince of the Sun (1968)
It's Such a Beautiful Day (2012)
Perfect Blue (1997)

I've seen Perfect Blue, think I gave it a 9/10 on MAL, but that was only a year or so ago so I'll go ahead and put it on the bottom of the list. I really like it but would prefer something new to me.

Waking Life, or at least the trailer I watched on youtube, was really fucking with my eyes. Flashing lights have kind of bothered me for a few years now, haven't seen an optometrist in years so not sure if there's something going on or it's just "You're getting older and you stare at screens all day long".

The Love Witch - 5/10

Movie was gorgeous, but boy was the dialogue not doing it for me. Campy B movies, parody or otherwise, generally aren't something I'm interested in to begin with so I'd be lying if I said I didn't go into this somewhat expecting to not enjoy it. Not exactly how you want to approach a movie but I don't think there was any way I was going to be able to go into this not a little negatively biased.

I think the movie would've still got a six out of me outside of the renaissance fair. Everything else felt like it was progressing the movie at a good pace but that section of the movie in particular really dragged for me.

This was actually my favorite part of the movie, I stopped the movie to watch it back a few times. One of those rare scenes that got a genuine, out loud laugh out of me even though I'm sitting in front of a computer watching the movie by myself. I'm interested in how many times they had to shoot that punch to get that level of terrible and great combined.

Stalker 7/10

Visually I loved every bit of the movie, but I found myself not particularly caring about the mystery of the Zone/Room all that much. Which is kind of the opposite I expected to feel about the movie going into it as unexplained sci-fi mysteries are usually exactly what I'm interested in seeing. I never felt like the reverence they have towards it is entirely earned.

The ending was the one part of the movie that really made the Zone/Room feel otherworldly to me. All of a sudden the daughter having telekinesis is like the first thrown nut along the path I really wanted to follow. Was it just from her father constantly flirting with the zone, bringing something back with him that's affecting her, or did he actually make a wish and this was the old monkey paw outcome.

It probably doesn't help that I watched the movie over two nights.

I haven't played battlegrounds much lately, kind of surprised I won with this.

Took 20 or so damage two turns before I won because my opponent had two taunt elementals that were each 100/250 or something else absolutely ridiculous, but I bought one poison buddy each turn after that and they weren't able to counter with anything.

It was going to be pre-60s at first. NxNW was joined by On The Waterfront, Bicycle Thieves and Metropolis, but I couldn't think of a fifth movie to put with them that wasn't there more for fitting the theme than actually wanting to watch it. I figured the brawl this week would just be aggro Druid/Rogue/Hunter, which is the route I took with Token Druid, but the one game I played was against Secret Mage. I don't know what all cards Secret Mage would lose in this format and I won fast enough that I didn't have to find out.

Spent most of my playing time today finally getting past Cho'Gall in the Rogue single player run. One shot the other seven bosses but I think I took a good ten attempts to beat CG.

Stalker (1979) - Criterion and Kanopy
Badlands (1973) - Criterion
The Poseidon Adventure (1972) - Cinemax
El Topo (1970) - Mubi?
North by Northwest (1959) - HBO

Never heard of Mubi before, but when I went to the page it said a movie called Inflatable Sex Doll of the Wastelands was currently playing. So there's that.

i did a brief search and it actually seems like the norm. all the search results that came up for my area (California) mention monthly payments. but (and i thought this with Marnie too at the time) it's really not like they're "getting paid" to take the child, more that it's assistance because taking care of children is fucking expensive. whatever they receive, i can't imagine they cover ALL costs of food, clothes, other expenses, etc. and even if those monthly payments did, it's still taking up your TIME. like if you're talking about net finances, there's no way you would come out positive for taking on a foster child.

I thought Anna mentioned when she found those papers that other parents didn't get money for it, only hers. It's entirely possible that I read the subs wrong and it was other kids as in non-fostered ones, which in hindsight kind of makes more sense, but at the time I read it to be other foster parents not getting monetary assistance for their kids.

Marnie - 9/10

I'm not sure how foster care works in Japan, but I'm going to assume it's abnormal to receive a stipend there for it? Otherwise her foster mother telling her about it at the end as if it was some dirty, shameful secret seems a bit weird to me. I can understand Anna being upset by it, being a teenager and trying to decipher whether or not her foster parents actually care for her or not, but the mother 'coming clean' about it out of the blue seemed out of place other than to put a bow on an otherwise great story.

Also, is it my imagination or did Anna fall on her face at least half a dozen times whilst running?

Was the dub good? I was going to watch it because from my understanding Ghibli does really excellent dubs, but I like having subtitles on for just about everything I watch now. The subs weren't matching the english voices for me, so I chose the Japanese track with English subs over the English track with no subs at all.

How did you friend request someone mid-match? The only way I know of to get a person's ID is from your last played opponent.

Go into your Hearthstone logs folder and open up Power.log. You can search for # in there and find all of your recent opponents, including your current opponent. It either resets when you close Hearthstone or when you start it back up each time.

Edit: Just checked since I'm doing a quest for battlegrounds right now, doesn't seem to work there.

He didn't know what the hell I was talking about at first when I mentioned the achievement but I got him to understand, and he put me to 1 health before casting a spell.

He used his hero power to put me to 1.

He had a random Dragonbane in play.
