Right. And Apple and Google should get a cut of the apps they sell on their stores, but also open their systems to outside apps. The Apple store should be a curated list of reputable apps that follow strict guidelines, a place you hope to trust.
I don't see the argument for changing the monetization scheme, though. If anything, removing the cut from in-app purchases increases incentive for micro-transactions.

FF1 for the NES and FF1 for the PSP are different games in terms of gameplay. The NES is a demanding DQ style grind with DND style mechanics (spell charges, hit rate, etc). FF1 for the PSP is a beautiful stroll through the Final Fantasy theme park.
If you're into retro games, play the NES version. Maybe not as your first FF to get into the series, personally I'd recommend FFVII on steam, but eventually. Keep in mind it was made for pre-internet days - small simple hints make a huge impact on your experience.

Not too invested in these, but FFXIII's gotta be up there, too. Is "moms are tough" a cutscene? There's a lot of awkward barely human interactions in FFXIII.

Also, put me on the "Tidus is purposefully laughing weirdly" train. The dialogue is awkward, maybe it's the translation (I think so), but Tidus is laughing weirdly because he's trying to sound forced.

Yuna
"You know what?"
"It's embarassing to say this myself..."
"But summoners and their guardians are kind of like Spira's ray of light."
"A lot of people in Spira depend on us."
"I learned to practice smiling when I'm feeling sad, you know?"
"I know it's hard."

Tidus
"Yeah... I undestand. I think."

Yuna
"Right, now let's see what you can do."

Tidus
"Huh?"

Yuna
"Come on!"

[Tidus smiles, with a bunch of weird facial expressions]

Tidus
"This is werid!"

Yuna
"Next, try laughing out loud!"

Tidus
"What?"

Yuna
"Come on, show me!"

[Tidus stretches, and forces a loud, obnoxious, annoying laugh. Everyone stares at him]

Yuna
"You probably shouldn't laugh any more."

[He keeps laughing. Yuna joins in. Then they start normally laughing]

Yuna
"Too funny!"

something that doesnt support his narrative

and it looks even weaker ever since Trump let more than a whole 9/11s worth of people die every day
Just for perspective, let's see what Trump had to say about 9/11:
"Donald, you have one of the landmark buildings down in the Financial District, 40 Wall Street," said Alan Marcus, a WWOR analyst. "Did you have any damage, or did you what's happened down there?"
Trump's response seemed to focus less on the deadly attack than on the fact that the World Trade Center was no longer the tallest building in the area.
"Well, it was an amazing phone call," Trump said. "I mean, 40 Wall Street actually was the second tallest building in downtown Manhattan, and it was actually before the World Trade Center the tallest, and then when they built the World Trade Center it became known as the second tallest, and now it's the tallest."
He continued: "And I just spoke to my people, and they said it's the most unbelievable sight, it's probably seven or eight blocks away from the World Trade Center, and yet Wall Street is littered with two feet of stone and brick and mortar and steel."
https://www.businessinsider.com/ trump-september-11-interview-tallest-building-manhattan-2017-9

Some other weird stuff he's said: https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/2019/09/12/trumps-fuzzy-vision-sept-attacks/
And there's this:
Trump, Nov. 21, 2015: Hey, I watched when the World Trade Center came tumbling down. And I watched in Jersey City, New Jersey, where thousands and thousands of people were cheering as that building was coming down. Thousands of people were cheering. So somethings going on. Weve got to find out what it is.
https://www.factcheck.org/2016/08/trumps-revised-911-claim/

For the record, I don't think the accusations against Omar are equivocal to the stuff Trump's said.

The US isn't a corporation and if your corporation has supported slave labor, overthrown democracies, spread drugs throughout its own communities, and fomented racism it'd be fair to criticize them. Companies frequently say, "We did something wrong (after being called out on it), we messed up, we're sorry, we'll try to do better." Stopping abuses of power is a good thing.

On the otherhand, I cannot even post some of the stuff Marjorie has said on twitter because it's so blatantly racist I'd be modded. She seems to have supported the insurrection on the Capitol, been aggressive to other members of Congress without a mask on, and constantly posts obviously false conspiracy BS. These are not equivocal.

AllegraD posted...

She SAYS she wants such and such done, but that is because she wants to win votes. And she did. She just won.
If she says she wants other politicians executed, helps the people trying to execute them, but really just wants to win - that's still an awful thing to do.

He has a personality. Even recent jrpgs stumble on giving villains personality as well as goals.
He goes from stooge to main villain. Throughout WoB he's more like a mid-boss while Emperor Gestahl is portrayed as the big bad and the switch feels great. FFXIII spoilers: Imagine if Cid Raines overcame his focus and succeeded in overthrowing the fal'Cie and Barthandelus, then became the antagonist as he himself tried to merge Pulse and Cocoon. Imagine if they gave him some character as well. FFIV spoilers: Likewise, Golbez is a far more compelling villain than Zemus and the switch is really kind of disappointing, albeit understandable. FF has quite a few "mid-boss" stooges who are ultimately far more interesting and compelling than the main villain. When they manage to make both compelling, like FFVI, FFV, and FFT, the whole game benefits. Kefka is just the most obvious example of that.
The clown is a fun trope: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_c6EkWp79co

Extra-biblical rabbinic traditions. Early Judaism is all about the growth of the tribe and anything that gets in the way of that is prohibited.
The Mishnah states that if a man touches his penis with his hand (in order to check for ritually impure emission), his hand "ought to be cut off".[9]
The Babylonian Talmud prohibits "emitting seed in vain", a term generally (but not only) referring to masturbation:
R. Johanan stated: Whosoever emits semen in vain deserves death, for it is said in Scripture (Genesis 38:10), 'And the thing which he did was evil in the sight of the LORD; and He slew him also.'[9]
The same passage likens the act to murder and idolatry,[9] and also prohibits a man from intentionally arousing himself:
Rav says: One who intentionally causes himself to have an erection shall be ostracized.[10]

Jessie deserves some respect for being the cutie of the original and being the most successful humor in the remake.

I'm out of the loop, is Valkyrae really more popular than Pokimane? The memes told me she was the undisputed number one female streamer!

no im not being ironic, why is valk over poki? like, is there something about her? did she just randomly blow up?
Pokimane has more controversy, but Valkyrae has really exploded in numbers lately.
Here's a report about her November numbers: https://www.sportskeeda.com/esports/valkyrae-doubles-pokimane-s-viewership-emerge-most-watched-female-streamer-november-2020
Many articles will just list "top twitch streamers" but streaming has stratified quite a bit over the last year.

That was a good question. But, that seemed like the right way to go for an answer, she just needed to throw up some examples.
On the other-hand, https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/wonk/wp/2014/04/01/yes-congress-is-getting-older-but-so-are-the-rest-of-us/
Congress has undoubtedly been getting older and it's more than just a cultural issue.

The real question is why the fuck haven't we gotten a new Theatrhythm game since 2014
Came into this topic to post this. I put over 100 hours into two different Theatrhythm games. Give me a new one on the Switch with KH songs and I'd pay $60.

refusal to kneel before the CDC to wear a mask did them in.
they refused to wear a "face diaper".
All around the world, with few exceptions, there was a trend of:

"high pop density areas getting hit hard before knowledge of virus" >
"mass lockdowns diminish numbers, some better than others" >
"virus slowly spreading to less populated areas as people become comfortable" >
"virus explodes in those areas while higher pop areas still have stricter controls" >
"virus spreads back to higher pop areas as people become more comfortable" >
"virus explodes during holiday season"

If you look where we're at, now, the virus is spreading pretty consistently, but mortality is way down (<1%, I think). People will continue to die from complications, but I think the major issue going forward will be long-term health hazards. From what I understand, and maybe @Doom_Art or someone can correct me, is that one of the major symptoms of the virus is similar to issues from asbestos - not very harmful short-term, but causes lung scarring which can lower quality of life and ultimately shorten your lifespan.
That is all to say that people all around the country aren't taking it as seriously as they should. Both rural and urban areas are now spreading it because people no longer see the danger.

Sexologist John Money introduced the terminological distinction between biological sex and gender as a role in 1955. Before his work, it was uncommon to use the word gender to refer to anything but grammatical categories.[1][2] However, Money's meaning of the word did not become widespread until the 1970s, when feminist theory embraced the concept of a distinction between biological sex and the social construct of gender. Today, the distinction is followed in some contexts, especially the social sciences[5][6] and documents written by the World Health Organization (WHO).[3]
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gender

I knew the difference between (assigned) sex and gender 20 years ago when I was a child.
Older people would relate gender to the grammatical sense: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Grammatical_gender
if not from the idea of "engender", which I believe is a false cognate (different Lating roots).

Wut? Weardown on N64 controllers is probably just as bad as Switch. N64 controllers have a similar design flaw that causes the joystick to loosen up over time and eventually become nigh-unusable. They're just much easier to clean and fix.
