The puzzles get harder but never close to actually hard. The side stuff in general was meh though. The only big difference would be which characters get hung out with and then whoever you watch thinking of things you might not have on your own. At least for the first game. Know nothing of the others. As for what you "do"....theres really only point and click type stuff outside of the trials without much of note being all that obscure or complicated. The trials themselves have 3 minigame type things - You figure out the right evidence point and shoot it at contradictory statements, hangman esque game, and then a short rhythm game. Have read maybe 2 or 3 books since being done with school. 10 years ago though i was still in HS and i often read to pass the time and for easy grades.
