Buying a circular saw and accidentally sawing off your thumb doesn't seem to implicate the saw company, because we all acknowledge the risk of accident here.
It depends on the nature of the saw (ie its design and manufacturing, as well as other considerations in its distribution). You're attempting to simplify the considerations at play in negligence and product liability suits in a way that, flat out, is not representative of reality.

I have not, and it's almost entirely because I just felt... there wasn't any real point? I see ME as being all about the Reaper conflict, and so it just felt wrong(?) to divert away from that and the main cast. I would have rather had expansion of the big squadmate's backstories. Lord knows there's plenty to work with there. I'd be all over stuff for Garrus and Tali.

I'm sure there are good legal arguments here that supersede all commonsense...but she nonetheless spilled the stuff on herself
Common sense would dictate that people spilling thing, especially in a vehicle, is an event reasonably likely to occur.

Common sense would further dictate that a near boiling temperature liquid would be very likely to cause significant burns if spilled.

Common sense would even further dictate that it would be prudent to take reasonable care to not aggravate the outcome of an event reasonably likely to occur.

The case was not a result of arcane legal doctrines that "supersede common sense."

Difference here is her dropping the coffee was a legitimate accident, no negligence on her part, so she's completely reasonable in suing when the injuries resulting from it are so much more severe than they should've been.
Negligence on her part wouldn't preclude recovery (New Mexico was and still is a "pure" comparative fault jurisdiction), so whether she was negligent goes only to the question of calculating compensatory damages to be awarded.

It was featured on the news and joked about on heavily late night shows. Like, ALL of them. Leno is singled out because a lot of people dislike him, but she was mocked on Letterman and Conan too.

There was a doc on Netflix that brought a lot of attention to it. It's now commonly accepted that she was in the right, but it sucks that it took over 20 years for it to be.
It was a result of two things:

1. Most people not knowing shit about tort law, and

2. The omission or downplaying of the extent of the woman's injuries.

Couple those things and you get the deluge of "Lol, of course coffee is hot."

I adjusted to using the chainsaw and ammo issue pretty early. It was a problem at first, but it refills pretty quickly.

Weirdly, the biggest habit I'm still trying to do is dashing. As much Souls games and Hades as I play, you'd think I would be accustomed to that by now.
I can't say I'm fond of cooldown-based dashing in FPS. I'd rather be able to rocket jump, which would lead to amazing shenanigans with the SSG meathook.

Not as bad as some of the parts of Post Mortem and Death Wish, though.

Is there tax that has to be paid on that $50 if I cash out? Or is there like a profit minimum threshold where you don't actually get taxed?
