But I don't think you can really fall "in love" with someone you haven't actually spent intimate time with building a relationship. Breath of the wild is my favorite game but dude, that boss fight was grand But:

1. the first phase was just a mushed together mix of the previous bosses. Literally. The health made it a challenge so I guess its good but it lacks originality.
2. Dark beast ganon had an amazing appearance and the laser was pretty cool too but thats about it. Thats all it had. If you moved it wouldnt charge towards you, it just stayed there blasting its lasers. It could have at least made some kind of Malice horse to chase after you, like the 3rd phase of the twilight princess final boss. Also beating it is soooo easy. Simply shoot literally 8 large ass targets with the bow with the best aim. You dont even kill it. ZELDA seals it away, you dont kill it with the master sword. I know Dark beast ganon was most likely a puppet of the real ganondorf but you didnt even need the master sword to kill it!? Come ON! All we just got a 4.5 second animation! The games way of beating itself is do all the shrines, get all hearts and full stamina, do the master trials and get the master cycle zero and the powered up master sword, all for THIS?! I could LITERALLY beat it with a bunch of royal guards weapons! And its actually possible to beat it with a mop! A FUCKING MOP! This final boss fight was such a fucking disappointment. Story wise its good, but gameplay wise? Hell no! Something I would have expected of breath of the wild was maybe you could have a second part of the game where links too weak to beat him again, so Zelda uses the master swords power and makes it her own to seal ganon for a while longer. Then you go collect some item you need to unlock a mysterious power, while also regenerating the master swords power. But nope! We get a crappy boss fight!

That is understandable then

And that makes sense on screen it is interesting to see how his plot plays out as a character should, but in this world his personality wouldn't be that far from a certain dictator in ways so it'd be easy for people aware of his actions to hate him.

On another note I wonder if you locked him underground and he had no means of escape/murder; would ryuk still just throw light he assist and kill him?

I cant say yes or no tbh. What Id do in such an act of danger isnt known by even myself.
The only thing I can say is i still wouldnt kill him unless i really have to. What Im about to say can make some people angry, but death is never needed, it is only excused. If I happened to go along with stopping him and had his fate in my hands, Id lock him in an underground facility with absolutely no means of killing.
Either way I didnt like him at all. I thought he was evil but the world wasnt mine so I was rooting for him to win. Or I just wanted better plot.
