The art styles weren't great either and they were terrible in practice. The tone of the show changed presumably, and so the character design changed with it. There's nothing pathetic about it, it's just different.

BTAS is very different from He-Man or GI Joe or something else from that era. It's about when the transition started to actually looking good.

Generally, throwing something away terminates possession. That's literally one of the paradigm examples we used in property class in law school. You can't steal someone's trash. It's no longer theirs.

Even then, it's scummy, anti-human behavior to attack someone for attempting not to starve by eating discarded food. We've seen throughout the pandemic that cops have the discretion to just decide not to enforce mask mandates, social distancing etc. They are choosing to enforce an anti-human law.

It's interesting when you want to get granular and explore nuances vs when you want to be extremely black and white.

Polish people have their own specific history and fit into this in some ways, and not in others. Just like the Irish, Italians, Germans, etc. But just like all those groups, they all melt into just being white here and so benefit from many perks of that.

It's also not a punishment, so it's not something you're "subject to", it's just reality, based on things that have occurred.

Yeah the funny thing about white supremacy is "just be nice to others" and "doing nothing" is not remotely enough to dismantle the systems put into place that protects and uplifts white people. The country was founded and reinforced over hundreds of years on the concept. We have to actively dismantle the systems rather than just "living my life" and presuming they'll go away.

Taking it personally just because the word "white" is in there is the ultimate feelings over facts.

Or this, really. That's the broader scope. Having capitalism as a tool enables these nationalist and racially ideological systems to maintain power.

You can either have it be whitewashed military propaganda, antiwar propaganda, or hyper accurate. What you can't do is have it be apolitical. Even attempting to do so is choosing the first category by omission/default.

That is always the case when you are depicting an inherently political subject like a recent, hypercontroversial war.

You either depict the war crimes and brutality that took place and be accused of hating America or you exclude it and help subtly brainwash people who have no other conception of war beyond media representations.

Thats not true, at all. Top of my head there's the USDA Rural Development Loan, poor credit is fine and NO money down required. Literally all you need is a job for at least a year and a credit score above 600 and be able to prove on paper you can afford it.

Stop making excuses, there are plenty of programs out there to help low income people become homeowners.

Those are requirements on place, income, and credit score even in the example you're giving. But people who don't meet those criteria still need housing. What are they supposed to do? None of this covers the people living in tin shacks in the 5th Ward of Houston. It doesn't cover people who can't get jobs. It doesn't cover people with serious financial issues.

You people always say there's "plenty" of this and "plenty" of that. And yet so many are homeless or endlessly pay rent to live in slums. There is not any sort of plenty for these people.

Mostly what they deal with are waits, lists, denied applications, uncertainty, and exploitation.

At the end of the day, many people cannot outright purchase housing while others collect it and charge them to occupy it because they don't functionally have another choice.

For poor people, they literally can't buy a house under any circumstances. It's not a choice for them, they don't qualify for the loans and they don't have the cash. So for someone in that situation, a service is not being provided, they're just paying to exist and have a roof over their heads. They're paying but not acquiring anything permanently, they're just giving over their money and potential savings to add to another party's potential savings.

Can people at least admit this or explain why it's wrong, for the poor?

If you guys want to preserve the rental market for the people who are renting for convenience, then here's the compromise: we can bring back renting when every man, woman, and child has adequate, safe, secure, and permanent housing. Until then, landlording is by necessity exploitation.

This is a constitutional crisis. Our executive branch is now fundamentally unaccountable whenever a Republican is in office. Congress does not act as the check that it's supposed to.

I would prefer a more natural way of protecting people. Because having a 3rd party do it like this seems crude to me.

With that said, I can't think of a better solution, so until one can be thought of, I'm for this as well.

What could be more natural than workers joining together to safeguard their interests? If a business can form a cartel or a chamber of commerce or an industry lobby, workers joining together should be expected.

No one is asking white people to feel guilty. We're asking you to recognize the full scale and implications of what happened and is happening and then act accordingly. That doesn't involve you feeling bad, you don't need to be like those protestors from the summer making a ritual of renouncing your white privilege.

But for example, when you see people protesting to not be killed by the police or advocating housing that might change the dynamics of your neighborhood, recognizing the past and present and acting accordingly should shift you away from a "Blue Lives Matter" or "NIMBY" response. Otherwise, you'll be the white person in the history book being judged harshly.

Because just saying both sides without noting which side is worse when one side is clearly worse inherently helps the worse side.

It's seeking a false balance but creates an imbalance just by the way its phrased.

It's more complicated than it initially seems. An untrained fighter with terrible technique, cardio, etc never ever getting hit would raise all sort of eyebrows and would be obvious hax as another poster said. It would be very apparent that hax are involved far before you get to the level of a fight that pays out 10 mil plus.

The way to avoid that is to sometimes get hit so it seems possible. But since actually getting hit is going to be lights out for the average joe, even against cans, that's super risky. That's taking the risk of being an MMA fighter. And training to get good enough technique to not be suspicious is again, just being an MMA fighter.

So the best solution would be to play another sport, but I'm not sure there's anything focused on not getting hit where it wouldn't be just as suspicious.

I don't think we can help them without shutting down the sources of misinformation that cooked their brains. That's talk radio, certain Youtubers, right wing/conspiracy influencers on Twitter and Facebook, Fox News and the entire right wing media sphere, and even a lot elected officials. They have a whole alternate universe that creates an alternate reality. It's been built up over decades and without puncturing that, we're not gonna be able to directly change their minds.

They would absolutely cry censorship though and they'd probably be right in a few instances if the government enforced the changes.

So the only other way is just to defeat them electorally and then critically, use that power to make things unquestionably better. First, we lessen their power by pro-democracy reforms, such as banning gerrymandering, money in politics, pass a new VRA, do something about the electoral college etc. Then pass legislation that affects everyone's material interests, so that's healthcare, worker's rights, wages, student loans etc. Pass a second New Deal. That would hopefully deradicalize some of them by showing them society can actually work correctly. And even if it doesn't it would cut off the fire of their cynicism from oxygen because a better running society doesn't produce these types of people.
