Topic | What's interesting about your city? |
robbobmur 02/17/21 3:57:18 PM #9 | We're the glass capital of Indiana. At one time we had over a dozen glass factories , now there's just one left. And that's about it. My current town and the one I spent my teen years were gas boom towns , where almost every building in the downtown area was built in the 1890s . And over the past 35 years about a third of them have been demolished and nothing put in its place ; with another third empty or in need of demolition. |

Topic | Whats your biggest pet peeves for restaurants? |
robbobmur 12/20/20 4:02:12 PM #13 | dragon504 posted... Running out of staple items. Last time I went to a local steak house, they were out of t-bones. That place has gone way down hill and I don't plan on ever eating there again. Wonder if rona killed them. I went to a DQ once that was out of bananas , which should be # 3 or 4 on the list of supplies needed after ice cream , cones , then toppings or fruit mixings. |
Topic | Whats your biggest pet peeves for restaurants? |
robbobmur 12/20/20 3:03:13 PM #5 | pionear posted... Rude Waiters/Waitresses... I always ask for a particular waitress when I go to IHOP since my wife and I usually go the same time every week. Servers that ignore you tick me off easily, now it's understandable when the place is packed or it's a trainee, and they're usually apologetic about their absence in those situations. But when you get seated and noone waits on you or you go to a fast food counter and noone takes the time to say " be with you in a minute " , it best to just leave and try again another day. |
Topic | What do you think of the Star Wars franchise now? |
robbobmur 12/03/20 5:54:24 PM #37 | After TLJ , I have no desire to watch / read anything to do with SW. The only other similar rejections that come to mind is after the Benoit incident , my interest in wrestling evaporated. And after the 94 WS cancellation , the only MLB game I've gone to was a freebie. |
Topic | Rate the hottest girl I´ve ever seen |
robbobmur 12/03/20 5:42:53 PM #22 | Don't care for the eye brows , long nails , or the make-up . The first thought that would cross my mind is that she wouldn't want to be touched because it might ruin her make-up. I found 1 of those 10 pics appealing. |
Topic | Would you rather work at a place with 5 coworkers or 50 co workers? |
robbobmur 12/02/20 6:08:12 PM #11 | DoubleOSnake posted... i mostly had in mind though 5 and 50 people that you work with at one time, not total that the workplace employs I work in a manufacturing facility with multiple production lines of varying sizes . The fewer people on the line the less problems we have. The larger departments have more personal conflict between the employees and more absentee issues. Not entirely unrelated , the larger lines are predominately women , while the smaller lines are heavily staffed by men. The larger lines usually involve handling smaller components placed into larger housings where small hands are advantageous, are air conditioned, and the employees rotate hourly. While the smaller lines are the dirtier and more monotenous machining jobs. |
Topic | Men's cologne |
robbobmur 11/29/20 8:34:34 AM #14 | Used to wear Old Spice , don't wear any now as most colognes irritate my nose or eyes. And after being around people who wore so much cologne that the odor would linger and burn long after they left the area , I quit wearing it once the kids quit buying it for me as a present. |

Topic | Do you still listen to the radio? |
robbobmur 11/23/20 1:48:38 PM #27 | Yes , unfortunately this time of the year it's either Xmas music or the not so top 40 of today or yesterday as the most common options. Thankfully , I don't usually get the constant commercials that drive time listeners have to deal with since I go in and get off 2 hours before each usually. I don't listen as much as I did before the tech boom. |
Topic | Do you think girls look pretty in lipstick |
robbobmur 11/21/20 6:18:07 PM #12 | ParanoidObsessive posted... I'm a fan of the theory that the best makeup is when you apply it in a way that it almost looks like you're not wearing makeup at all. Accentuate what you have and cover up what needs to be hidden without being super-blatant about it, and you're going to look way better than someone who's face has tons of lipstick, blush, or eye shadow. |
Topic | Chili |
robbobmur 11/17/20 4:32:36 AM #21 | Don't care for Cincinnati style , which is how my schools served it when I was a kid. We called it goolash when using macaroni , not chili. My wife makes ours with hamburger , dark red kidney beans , onions , spicy diced tomatoes, brooks ketchup , and enough chili powder it's hotter on the third day of leftovers than it was freshly cooked. |
Topic | What was life like in the 1910s? |
robbobmur 11/16/20 4:45:46 AM #12 | Outhouses in city dwellings were still a common thing as indoor plumbing is not widespread yet. My great- grandmother still used one in 1972 as she lived across the street from the mall in Anderson, In. My house , which was built in 1916 , didn't originally have a bathroom and I still have the well right out my back door. Refrigerators used blocks of ice keep cool as widespread electric refrigeration is still 2 decades away. |

That didn't have its origins until 1922. |
Topic | What Celeb death has effected or impacted you the most? |
robbobmur 11/15/20 12:52:13 PM #28 | James Dean - I grew up and live near Fairmount , IN ; if he hadn't died prematurely I don't believe the resulting tributes and celebrations around the area would be nearly as large as they have become. The only deaths that spark any emotion out of me are the ones who die from someone else's actions. John Lennon , Rebecca Schaefer , Dorothy Stratton ,Selina , Dean , and the others who fall under this scenario. |
Topic | Driving conditions |
robbobmur 11/08/20 12:11:26 PM #17 | Around here , heavy rain is worse because during heavy snow there are fewer drivers on the road and the ones that are on the road are driving slower. During a heavy rain , I see far too many drivers travelling at an excessive speed with the reduced visibility. |

robbobmur 10/31/20 7:06:49 PM #2 | FrozenBananas posted... Ive beaten Bioshock 1 and Bioshock Infinite multiple times on the hardest difficulty, but Im not sure what this one will be like. You can take the LS straight to a vent , once you defeat the BD. |
Topic | Did you ever noticed how men always leave the toilet seat up? |
robbobmur 10/18/20 12:14:52 PM #31 | wwinterj25 posted... I mean the lid on when you flush stops getting germs out if nothing more. If the splashback germs can reach the seat , they reach the lid. And then when you sit at the next time , the base of your back usually touches the lid, unless you leave your shirt tail close to your ass when you do your business. You raise both the seat and lid when flushing, then close both. The lid is to keep stuff out , not germs in. |
Topic | Do you enjoy driving? |
robbobmur 10/04/20 10:28:00 AM #24 | I'd prefer to live within walking distance of my work , but the 14 mile commute isn't too long. It is boring driving these two lane Indiana state highways , where every neighboring county has at least two perpendicular highway intersections with the same gas station design and locally owned restaurant structure that look the same as the others. It's terrifying watching idiots lane hop 4 lanes to the right in Indy , while passing multiple semis in the center lanes without seeing the other idiots doing the same entering from the on-ramp and lane hopping left. And I never see any beaters crashed along the interstate in Indy , its always the high performance or muscle cars. |

robbobmur 09/05/20 10:56:32 AM #21 | I just called last month for the first time in my life, while driving to work at 5AM , I nearly slammed into two cows who were in the road. The guy who was a minute behind me also called. |
Topic | Poll idea: have you ever played a game start to finish in one session? |
robbobmur 09/03/20 4:34:45 AM #36 | Jake Johnson posted... It just occurred to me that this is a somewhat bad question. BTTF was fun , up until that ridicuously hard final level, which I beat after several profanity laced tirades . As other have said , many games of the NES/SNES era were less than two hours long. I loved Spiderman: Maximum Carnage , which lasted just a little over an hour. |
Topic | How long should you keep old documents for? (Bank papers/report cards/old books) |
robbobmur 09/01/20 4:36:59 AM #12 | Keep all manuals and warranty info for household appliances for the life of the appliance. Keep all documentation of any house repairs or remodeling for as long as you live there. Keep tax returns and bill receipts for 5 years. Healthcare info - until you're dead. Old books , if they're not collectable and you're not going to look at them again - donate, sell, or just give them away if you don't have space for them. I taped my report cards inside my yearbooks. |
Topic | Anyone have experience with degenerative disk disease? |
robbobmur 09/01/20 4:15:29 AM #12 | I've had two back surgeries, one at age 18 for an L5 disc which caused a constant pain in my leg that surgery was the only relief I could find . Then at age 43 , I had a T 12 surgery to relieve numbness. I have to do a daily routine of stretches to keep from feeling tightness and keep my leg strength up to help provide support to my back. Along with stretching, there are several other types of low Impact exercises and light weightlifting that can keep your muscles strong enough to help reduce the effects of bone issues. |

robbobmur 08/30/20 10:55:35 PM #29 | They're OK, but I prefer French Toast made with Texas Toast bread slices. |
Topic | When did you last get asked for I.D? |
robbobmur 08/22/20 8:51:21 AM #19 | I usually have to show my ID for various reasons once or twice a month. Writing a check , using credit card , receiving or being first contact in a medical procedure, and voting . Just off the top of my head. |

robbobmur 08/18/20 4:26:08 AM #16 | Outback is the only one of those around here and it's been years since I've gone there. Texas Roadhouse , Olive Garden , Wendy's , Long John Silver , Pizza King and DQ are my most frequented places in my area. |

Topic | How often do you buy a new couch? |
robbobmur 08/11/20 10:12:06 PM #7 | Good quality furniture should last decades, depending on use frequency. Upholstery, padding , pillows , and matresses need periodic replacement ; but the framing should withstand all normal use. My mother's couch is 40 years old and still in excellent condition. It is rarely used as she spends most of her time in the den. I had a hide-a- bed couch for 20 years and sold it because we rarely used it . I have several 50 year old pieces of furniture still in good, usable condition. |

Topic | Trump corrupting postal service |
robbobmur 08/09/20 8:17:25 AM #2 | How many things that we used to need the postal service for , are now done electronically? The various forms of the phone and the computer has made postal delivered written correspondence obsolete for over 80% of Americans. We no longer need 6 day a week delivery. Now ,I agree that we shouldn't be closing branches except in midsized and large cities with multiple facilities that are losing population. State governments have closed many physical structures with the changes in technology , we can adapt to reductions in postal service. |
Topic | How long is too long on the toilet? |
robbobmur 08/06/20 3:49:09 PM #4 | If your legs or feet go numb , you're taking too long. Even before covid, why would you want to expose yourself to anything a coworker might have. Get in , get done , and wash thouroughly. Some coworkers may just leave a mess , either because they're jerks or they're that thoughtless. |
Topic | What is your favorite soup? |
robbobmur 08/02/20 9:43:46 PM #18 | I loved Campbell's Chunky Chili Beef , but I must have been one of the few and they discontinued it. I'll eat Sirloin Burger or Chicken Noodle when I'm sick, but rarely at any other time. |
Topic | Which grandparents were you closer to? |
robbobmur 08/02/20 2:19:24 PM #14 | My maternal grandfather left the family before I was born and I only met him once when my cousin came home from Iraq, and I only met him because my mother asked. My maternal grandmother never worked and my mother, aunts , and uncles took care of her for 40 + years . My cousins and I spent alot of time with her , including taking her on the Beast_Kings Island) on her 65th birthday. My paternal grandparents divorced also before I was born and I rarely saw them . Although I saw my grandmother enough to have a good relationship with her , until she moved away from my home county. My kids have spent a lot more time with their grandparents , moreso with the wife's parents since they live less than a mile away, whereas my mother lives 30 miles away and spent a decade during the summer 100 miles away on a lakeside property. |

Topic | Did you know they sell windshield wiper blades individually and not in pairs |
robbobmur 07/28/20 8:39:36 PM #7 | Because not every vehicle has the same size blades for each wiper and some vehicles have only one or more than two. Edit: sorry I thought I read a why in that sentence. |

robbobmur 07/20/20 3:49:17 AM #26 | CwebbMichSac4 posted... is it mcdonald's? that would probably win in a poll of all americans i believe. No, they're just the most prominent, because they build in prime locations and in smaller towns they're usually one of only a handful of choices. If you exclude kid's opinions , they're usually at the bottom of the list. I prefer Wendys most often , over the usual franchises. |
