I feel like I need to grind out boss materials or something. I'm taking WAY too much damage, I can't A rank these levels anymore.
Huh, what level are you? Maybe hold off on the harder squares of the later maps for now.
Damage taken was almost never an issue for me in the DE.

MyFairy can help, too... There's a fairy skill to revive you once per battle, that you can exploit a bit... Basically any time you're above 1/4 heart, a hit will at worst put you to 1/4 heart, and then the next attack kills you. So...let you health plummet w/o healing, enjoy the reduced damage to 1/4 heart, again enjoy the reduced damage of going from 1/4 heart to dead, then revive for free.
Rather than keeping your health replenished and losing gobs of hearts all the time.

There's also the Wall of Water fairy skill, one of the water fairies (Becka, I think?) comes w/ it. It works like Sheik's water barrier to absorb I think 4 hearts of damage, usable 1/battle (wall of water+ is 3/battle).

Every little bit helps...

Of course if the battle has an element recommended, make sure you at least have level 2 defense badge for it, level 3 if possible.

Yeah I've been doing them top to bottom since I assume the order they're listed is the order they want me to do them?
They're ordered by supposed difficulty.
But that's not entirely accurate. and only like half of each map is actually the max difficulty level anyway.
If you do some of the later maps earlier, it's really beneficial to 100% the game.
Not only for getting 4+ weapons, but also means you can get started earlier on acquiring and building a "perfect" weapon (5 stars, 8 slots, with the skills you most want), which itself will take many hours and literally can't start until you're capable of even getting them as drops.
Also, some maps give double material drops (Twilight, Koholint w/ an item card for a few battles) or double food (Grand Travels, I think Koholint w/ an item card...?). Lorule gives double weapons so it'll help you get good weapons fast (so does Majora's Mask, but the weapons will be much weaker so whatever).

Basically, I'm trying to say that even after you get the best stuff, there will be a lot more to do (making perfect weapons, filling out badges, getting a fairy w/ material master+ and magic fountain+) after. So you'd be saving time getting started on some of that sooner then getting it done in parallel w/ cleaning up the maps you skipped.

But whatever floats your boat....
EDIT: Not even saying to complete the late maps first. Just get the major goodies and leave, finish it later. Like I said earlier, the benefits for finishing a map aren't that important in most cases. You don't HAVE to stick to one map at a time.

Definitely start everyone at like 30 or 40 if you're rolling in cash. If you can get them all even higher then fine, but it's pretty cheap to get everyone up that high and really helps starting out.

Do you plan to just 100% maps from top to bottom? If so, why? Just seems so arbitrary and will probably add a hundred hours vs. doing them more sensibly to get high level weapons and a material master+ fairy early on...

All it really gives of note is weapons for one character, and not even her 4th and 4+ weapons (and her 4+ is stupid easy to get, it was one of the first 4+ I got and I wasn't even using her at all).

Like, sure....if you want to do it for completeness sake. But I don't get why anyone would do it before other maps, that actually have shit to offer.

She didn't try to claim a "slippery slope", she just flat out asked "how is that different?"
And no, it really wasn't a slow process, nazi influence took a few years once they were in power.
Unless you mean the two millennia of anti-Semitism that set the groundwork for nazi Germany, in which case...yeah, it took many times the amount of years the U.S. has even existed as a country to happen.
And why is hating people w/ different political views a problem now, and not all the previous years the Republican platform boiled down to, "own da libs!"?

She didn't say it would come to that either, don't make up things just to be upset. Its literally "it started by us turning on each other for something stupid that separates us".
What a worthlessly vague statement. Could say the same thing about the American Revolution.

Okay so I think my theory about they just started development on DLC has some weight to it. There was no gameplay or anything, just art and a title card and a little information. Here's the information:
Hyrule Warriors Age of Calamity Expansion Pass

Presumably the expanded roster is Robbie, Purah, and possibly Astor and Sooga. That is all still a ways off, and sounds kinda sparse? Unless the new content is very substantial.
Yeah, they came out of nowhere w/ a full game during the Year of COVID. Not surprised they'd made no progress by the game's release on the DLC, must've been crazy hectic.
Expanded roster is super vague. At a minimum, it should be those 4. The 4 Calamity Ganons also is probably easy to add in, either separately or tied together like Great Fairy maybe
Would be nice to see a couple totally new characters too, though.

Awesome! Samurai Warriors is my favorite musou franchise.
The 2nd game is still the best and 3 and 4 have both been inferior to the previous entry (ie, 2 > 3 > 4 in quality), but all the SW games have at least been good. Much more consistently than the Dynasty Warriors main line...

If you do get into SW but want a game on the recent (PS4/PS5/Switch) gens, I'd suggest vanilla SW4. Maybe also SW: Spirit of Sanada or SW4 Empires if you like that. Avoid SW 4-II, it's utterly pointless.... just SW4 w/ way less content and one new character.

It's been super frustrating getting anywhere, if you want anything different than the cookie cutter houses put up in HOAs (which is the whole reason I'm doing new construction in the first place, to not have that).
I have a real estate (buyer's) agent and talked to half a dozen builders, but tracking down all the specialists from ones to do the siding I want, finding available lots for sale, finding land surveyors, finding the best bank loan offers, getting estimates from drafters and architects, verifying water and sewer hook up of the lots, getting answers on building code requirements, etc...

But they're definitely there, and some are super annoying to get. Also, in case it's unclear, you HAVE to get the 1st skulltula first. If you play on hard mode you'll still get the 1st one first, so there's really no point playing on hard until you have the 1st already.

https://theweek.com/articles/966108/end-war-whistleblowers

Of all the candidates for a pardon, Reality Winner's case is most obviously convincing, though as yet has not gotten the wide attention it deserves. She did indeed leak classified documents to The Intercept (which horribly botched its security protocols and basically handed her to the FBI, though she probably would have been caught eventually), which is against the law. But the exposure of these documents did not even slightly harm national security.

Here's what seems to have happened. Winner listened to the Intercepted podcast in early 2017, including one episode in which former Intercept co-founder and journalist Glenn Greenwald expressed skepticism about the idea that Russia had hacked the DNC and John Podesta to boost Donald Trump in the 2016 campaign. Therefore she sent the publication classified material showing the NSA had evidence that not only was Russia behind those hacks, it had actually successfully hacked into an election software vendor. For that she was sentenced to five years and three months in prison. It was the longest sentence in history for simply leaking to the press and very obviously related to Trump's desire to punish people who pointed out his connection to the Russia hack.

Any reasonable American should favor her release because the public has a right to know when U.S. intelligence agencies think a hostile foreign power is trying to compromise America's electoral machinery. At bottom, she was simply doing what the NSA is supposed to do protect the country. Indeed, as Kerry Howley (a journalist who has been following the Winner story closely) points out, when The Intercept published its story on the leak, the federal agency in charge of assisting state election authorities put out a bulletin informing state governments what had happened for the first time. Several states were outraged that they hadn't been informed earlier, and justifiably so. It's not the first time that intelligence agencies' compulsive secrecy and over-classification has gotten in the way of doing their purported jobs.

In any case, all the important details Winner leaked were later published in the Mueller report. Her action was carried out in good faith; she did no harm and at least some good. And anyone who simply believes in proportional punishment must agree that, even on the harshest possible reading of events, Winner has already paid for what she did and then some. She should be pardoned immediately.

Biden's been in office for a month now. Obviously petty vindictive Trump wasn't going to release the person that revealed to the public that Russia helped him win. WTF is Biden's excuse to not do anything?

I don't recall what it was like on Switch, it didn't challenge me at all.

I remember on Wii U, either her level 2 or 3 was really tough. Took place in the mines/tunnels area and there's an utterly insane amount of captains that end up swarming your base, I think it's one of those "defeat the leaders of 2 armies" things. Then I realized as long as I stuck near the main base, it was actually a godsend to have so many enemies bunched up in my HQ as long as I kept on the move.

Gate is disjointed from Lana, once the summon pops out, you can immediately dodge cancel and move away while it does its thing. You gotta take advantage of that and the outright invincibility (any time there's a blue orb around her) she has from like the last half of her normal string and all of her summons except C1 and C2.
If you're constantly popping summons, repositioning, repeat.... it's one of the safest weapons in the game, should be nearly impossible to lose due to damage taken. It is NOT a weapon to run straight into the fray and stand there and button mash.

Okay 25% through MQ map. I just unlocked the bottom leftmost square which I hear is the best grinding spot in the game. My first time through my Skull Kid gained like 8 levels or something, and there's 2 Manhandlas, so yeah it does seem like a pretty good spot. I'm sitting on 5 million rupees. I assume 9,999,999 is still the cap?
It's not nearly as good a grinding spot as it once was.
It can get you up to level 50 or so, maybe even up to 80, but beyond that you're gonna get crap for xp from it, and it's gonna be pretty slow above 50, too.
High level weapons and weapon skills to boost damage matter a lot more than levels anyway.
It can be good to get anyone up to a decent level to do other stuff I guess, but the rupee cost to train people at early levels is so low that I just start everyone off at like level 30+ anyway.
Grinding for lots of pricey weapons on Lorule (double weapon drops, up to 8 per battle...more w/ potions for extra drops, and some battles like Divisive Plan ones can be over in less than 2 min) with a high level character and selling them for training money might be more effective, honestly. Plus you can use a rupee-booster (Ravio bonuses) on Lorule, too.
Yes, cap is still that.

Also note one of the "tricks" for grinding xp on that map is to get the xp booster potion, intentionally die near the end, then retry the battle, and do that repeatedly. Because you keep the potion effects on retries, but also keep xp and levels gained from failed attempts. So you can milk a lot of levels off one potion, which is somewhat costly otherwise (10 silver materials, I think? 20?). It's funny though, I gave up on the method after a while b/c I'd wait too long and kill too much and then literally fail to die before time expired, lol

Intellect/stupidity is completely independent of good/evil.
Both smart and dumb people can be evil, they just go about it in entirely different ways.

"Dumb Evil" types are by far the most immediately destructive and dangerous, but thankfully their own stupidity means they tend to come in roaring only to quickly flame out and go down with a pathetic wimper.
Examples: hitler, Donald Trump, Martin Shkreli ("pharma bro"), the "Afluenza" kid

"Smart evil" types are less damaging but also far more successful at their goals. They recognize the need to keep the extent of their evil hidden from the public and to possibly "throw them a bone" once in a while so there's no massive uprising against them as they work within the system to extract maximum profit. The thing is, it's tough to point out examples b/c the best "Smart evil" people know to avoid the limelight completely, not having a clue about who they are or what they're doing is kind of the whole point.
Examples: Any corporate or special interest lobbyist that no one knows the names of but basically write the bills and get everything they want. Congress and White House members themselves could be a more publicly known example. Yeah, everyone hates them, but few know just how much they abuse the system for their own benefit. Even then, the types like Ted Cruz don't really fall into this category b/c they're too grandstanding and dumb. It's more like these people...

Holy crap. That quiz where you had to kill Ganondorf as Zant and there's a Moblin. That was evil. I had to like stop myself from WPSing Dorf.
Did you try using the boomerang to incapacitate the Moblin, then draw 'dorf away to fight for a bit, rinse and repeat?

Boomerang is CLUTCH in those missions. Note it doesn't always stun, you have to try multiple times.
Also, for Zant...stick to the orb shooting C1 so you can focus fire on one target.
Definitely sounds hellish, though. Zant's not great for avoiding collateral damage.

For me...

Lust = Sloth >>> Gluttony > Wrath > Pride/Vainglory* >> Envy > Greed

Giving a very slight edge to Lust, but it and Sloth are by far and away my favorite of the "sins".

* I'm never clear on what this one entails exactly. If it's seeking public praise and accolades and being the center of attention, then drop this down to like the very end of the list. I literally couldn't give less of a shit about being famous or popular, or my social standing / "prestige".
If it entails being self righteous, caring more about proving to someone that you're right than trying to help them (ie, avoiding saying, "I told you so", in order to get the other person to actually listen to your input), and making decisions that are not logically in my own best interest just "out of principle".... then it's right up there with lust and sloth, far ahead of the other 4.
Placed it near the middle since I wasn't sure.

This weapons became so much fun when I actually figured out how to use it. When I first got it, it seemed bulky. Once I understood it, I love using it for big groups of enemies. And because of the way it works, it feel like it has way ore combos than other weapons, since the combo can change based on the strong attack you use before each combo...
It's actually super strong against boss monsters, too!
The enhanced C5 melts the WPG almost immediately and often will outright kill the boss before the ride even ends and you get to do the WPS.
Argorok C1 also does a lot to the gauge.
Gohma C1 takes out like 2/3 of it, generally (so attacking during it or popping another C1 will typically break a full gauge)
Manhandla C1 plus a Special (the poison drains the gauge w/o costing you time for the boss to get up) usually depletes a full gauge, too.

The only thing Gate is weak for is fighting captains w/o grunts around, like challenge/quiz battles. Even then, it's a really safe weapon if you're smart w/ it, the only problem is defeating them fast enough, and...usually it's not a problem.
Any other type of battle, the Gate is incredible, and it's one of the best weapons aside from Young Link for managing a giant chaotic mess of swarming enemies.

AoC is a much smaller game, and the combat is more refined, and it's not about capturing keeps. You can capture keeps, but I don't think it's ever actually required?
It's absolutely required. Constantly there's missions to capture keeps before the battle will progress. Which I don't mind at all. Just saying, it's unfair to criticize HW1 for it when AoC does it, too.

The party of law and order
Never forget Mark Foley.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mark_Foley

A Congressional Republican VERY vocally against CP (what a stunning and brave unpopular stance to take, no way being so vocal about it is a cover for anything....)

In the House, Foley was one of the foremost opponents of child pornography. Foley had served as chairman of the House Caucus on Missing and Exploited Children.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mark_Foley_scandal

Whoops!
Whoopsie!

Of course, this was all occurring while Dennis Hastert was the Speaker of the House. The guy that Republicans would coin the "Hastert Rule" after, refusing to allow votes in the House unless a majority of their party supported it, even if it had a bipartisan majority behind it, one of the most vile unofficial "rules" in Congress, stifling the will of the people to protect an extremist far right.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hastert_Rule

Gee, I wonder what pillar of shining moral values this Hastert guy was to be so revered by Republicans?

Hastert said in an October 2 press conference that he would have demanded Foley's expulsion from the House had he tried to stay in office. (Ironically, Hastert himself was described by a Federal District Court judge as a "serial child molester" and jailed in 2016 for illegally structuring bank withdrawals in an attempt to hide his own sexual abuse of four high school boys during his pre-Congressional career).

Yikes! That escalated quickly! Man...it's almost like the real pedo ring is in the Republican party and the whole QAnon thing is the most brazen projection attempt ever. Ah, but Republicans would never project their own sins on the opposing party, surely... And once someone's outed as a pedo, no way in hell would they want to associate with that person anymore. That'd just be crazy.

After several years removed from the public eye, Foley resurfaced as a supporter of Donald Trump during the 2016 presidential election, appearing behind him in a crowd at one of his rallies.

...I'm done....

Apparently "GOP" actually stands for Gathering Of Pedos

I think I have all of Link's and Lana's and Zelda's extra weapons I believe. I have Linkle's boots and Ganondorf's Trident. I think Toon Link has a sand rod? I'm not sure what else there is.
Do you have the summoning gate for Lana, Great Fairy for Link, Dominion Rod for Zelda?

...Here, just use this to see if you're missing any weapons:
https://www.reddit.com/r/HyruleWarriors/comments/4cwud9/link_character_guide_disambiguation_page/

Click on a character and it'll have a guide for any weapons they can get, like Link
You're correct, those are the only additional weapons for Toon Link, 'dorf, and Linkle.
Lana has 3, Zelda has 3, Link has like 6 plus the master sword, Impa has 2 (and her 2nd, the Naginata, I like way more than the great sword)

Everyone else just has 1

Sure, though plenty still are forced to work on federal holidays. But it's better than nothing. Mandatory early voting rules that states are all required to adhere to at a minimum (free to do more if they want) would be better.

Have you gotten the extra weapons for everyone?
My favorite weapons in the game are all adventure mode pick ups: Summoning Gate, Great Fairy, and Dominion Rod

Especially the Gate, it's my favorite move set in the game, it's really fun and powerful once you understand how it works. The fact it's so different from any other move set is part of why it's great. That and dragon rides. Dragon rides make anything better.

The government should take away people's "right" to do something of it is in the people's self-interest, or for their health, etc. this includes stuff like making vaccinations mandatory, and K12 schooling, and seatbelts

In general, should people be able to do things that are hurting them (whether intentionally or not) without reprimand, or should the government try to stop people with fines, jail time, taxes, yadayada
While I don't think we should protect people from themselves, a lot of these cases end being examples where broader society pays the price for someone's stupidity, and I think it's important to prevent that.

Seat belts? Keeps the driver from flying out of the vehicle and colliding with or causing additional distraction towards other drivers.

Vaccinations? It's necessary for most to be vaccinated to eliminate the spread of the illness, and to protect those who are unable to receive the vaccine like infants or immuno-compromised.

Eating garbage food? Raises health care costs for everyone to cover your ass.

Smoking? see previous entry, but also exposes people to 2nd hand smoke and even 3rd hand smoke (residue remains on surfaces for years afterwards).

K-12 education? An uneducated populace is how we get people like Donald Trump as president.

Nearly every stupid fucking thing someone can do to themselves, can ultimately harm broader society in some way. I was a firm supporter of that "challenge" a few years ago involving fast-acting packages of a certain brand's laundry detergent, though (I'm guessing I'd get modded for even saying it by name). Stuff like that's fine, just removes dumb people from the gene pool w/ no collateral damage to others.

It already is heavily subsidized. The issue is government-backed college loans which have removed the need for colleges to control costs. If government-backed loans weren't a thing, you'd see college become much more affordable almost overnight because they'd have to find a way to be affordable.

Otherwise there are a lot of state schools with very reasonable tuition right now. Most of the debt horror stories involve people picking schools that were expensive decades ago.
I've heard for 2 decades now (probably been longer, just that's as far back as I remember hearing about it) that supposedly states used to subsidize in state tuition costs more, and over the years have scaled back on it to save budget / cut taxes / etc...
Though I'm not sure how true that is...
Could be a "lies, damned lies, and statistics" situation where the % of tuition covered by the state has gone down, but their contributions have stayed level when adjusted for inflation, and the former stat is only decreasing b/c college infamously has gone up in cost much faster than inflation.
In which case, it's not the states' fault. I blame that on the colleges handing out massive salaries to admin positions and the athletics dept., and on the students and parents for gladly paying for for the finest facilities and grounds and thus enable this shit.
Has anyone covered the supposed decline in state funding for tuition fairly and accurately? Now I'm curious if it's true or "true on a technicality".

Subsidizing it to be a reasonable cost is fine.
Not free.
It's still a huge benefit to the individual, and also on a psychological level people tend to value things less when they're free. If they had to pay in something, they're more motivated to make it work out.

So basically...how it used to be when boomers and Gen X went to college.

Sometimes.
I got an engineering degree from an in state school, it was pretty cheap and gave me a useful education/degree. As long as the college is properly accredited, it works well enough.

Someone else I know got a marketing degree from a private college. She wanted to go there just because she loved the campus and surroundings, nothing to do w/ academics or anything. My entire 4 year cost was about equal to one year for her, and she's never gotten a job from her degree (and while marketing...sadly...can be lucrative, her studies were also an afterthought and she had to be talked into changing majors by her parents from a completely useless one).

I'm of the thought that higher education is important for personal development, but not for career (well, depending on your career)

Being taught to think critically and not always accept things for what they seem is a skill that not enough people have if the nightly news is any indication
Sure, I actually agree. College was my favorite time in my life, it was both fun and important for development.
Just...do it on the cheap. You don't need the hyper expensive private liberal arts college with the fancy recently remodeled facilities and immaculated cared for grounds to learn and socialize.
Too many people pick a college based on how prestigious and attractive it looks, price be damned, and I will never feel an ounce of sympathy for them with their inescapable debt. They deserve it. The range in prices for colleges is massive, anyone choosing the pricey school knows what they're getting into and don't care.
