People who aren't bright enough to grasp that there are other uses for blocking than "different opinions" actually baffle me.

It's not about being unable to grasp that; it's about whether or not that's actually the case. Again, most of the time it seems to be a difference in opinion that leads to blocking. People so quickly call each other racist, sexist, etc. regardless of whether or not it's true, because nuanced and intellectually honest conversations are apparently unwelcome and it's far easier to just hurl labels.

I love how people are trying to sell "boring" as some sort of amazing quality. You're getting blasted in the ass regardless of whether the government is boring or exciting, but at least the exciting government provides you with entertainment. "Boring" Obama still bailed out wall street and the rich still got richer at the expense of everyone else. Children were in cages during his administration and drone strikes were plentiful. I was born and raised in Detroit for the first 15 years of my life. It COMPLETELY depends on what part of the city you're in, as there are still very dangerous areas. You sound like someone who watched a documentary on Detroit's historical richness and just drew a conclusion from there.
