No, I disagree. I love Chichi and Pan. Some people like to whitewash human behavior. I think Toriyama paints a realistic portrait of how humanity actually is. And that might be disappointing to some. But Toriyama is, after all, only a cartoonist, and not a novelist.

He's written positive female characters like Chichi, a strong mother, and Pan, a cheerful courageous young lady. He's also included bimbos in his cartoons. And unless I'm mistaken, bimbos actually exist in real life. He's Mr. Equal Opportunity and includes them all.

I'm not saying everyone in Japan is racist. But if a Japanese person creates something blackface, they're probably racist.

That cartoon character looks like a caricature, and since there aren't many black people in Japan, it's probably easy for them to ignorantly make a caricature of black people rather than try to understand them and fairly represent them in a cartoon.

So sloppy, careless work at the very least.

People these days are so quick to throw the whole book at anything offensive. But that's assuming the absolute worst intentions about someone else.
