Three super good tracks, and three that are decent but I don't really stick out imo.

Except for maybe Fury Sparks, why is that one so much fun? This is not Motoi Sakuraba. This is thump thump thump thump simple rock guitar with a short loop. Yet I wouldn't mind at all if it won.

Nefertiti is a bit tiring, but I never want to hear The First Thing ever again

Match 2 is meh. This rendition/mood doesn't really fit the composition that well, but it has the benefit of not being Touhou 8: Imperishable Night - Reach for the Moon, Immortal Smoke

Third match is really good. I've beaten Shadows of Valentia twice and the credits song left no impression on me either time, but listening to to it in the nominations made me think damn what a nice song. It's definitely the best English-language Nintendo song I can think of.

I got 4/12 of my noms in (5/13 if not ninja'd on World's End Valentine) which I'm pretty happy about for my first time nominating. No confidence in any of them making it past round 1, but I didn't expect any of those four tracks to make it at all while the ones I was hopeful about drew crickets so who knows!

Also, lots of new discoveries. I don't even know how the hell somebody unearths stuff like russell brand for doom ii - EVENK but that is a jam

Seems like if you got rid of locks then nothing would be safe in the last-minute scramble due to people dropping the top stuff to make room for other noms, resulting in a 400-way tie to get into the bracket or some shit

One other thought is that if you want to have 30 noms instead of 20, you might consider doing noms in 3 tiers instead of 2. ie. Day 1 you allow 5 noms; day 2 you open it up to 15 or 20 for everyone, and then day 3 you open up whatever nominations people have left. Or some other scheme like that idk.

If a lot of people are worried about 20 vs 30 noms being the difference between listening to everything and not, then this would at least allow everyone to have most of their noms listened to and to prioritize them if they have ones they care more about. I guess the trade off is that making rules complicated is generally bad if there isn't a good reason and I don't know if this is a good enough reason.

Only problem with this is that if there are too many noms, people could just choose listen to everybody's first five noms, then if time permits everybody's 6-10th noms etc. to spread the love around without complicating things with rules.

This is one of the big things I was worried about seeing from a lot of people ^^;; Is it the increase in amount in general or if there was a longer time period submissions were open would you be more likely to listen to more noms?

I think there's a few things that could manage this. Longer nomination period would help, or maybe restrict these added 10 nominations to supports instead of new nominations. I'm not familiar with what proportion of nominations tend to be supports vs. introducing a new nom though, or how much of the nominated field gets into the contest.
