That's when you start subtly pushing back by asking if you should prioritize the main work or if someone else will be tasked to complete that. The manager likely has zero intention of following through in having someone else complete the work, but if you get them to say they'll do that then it will be on them when things don't get done*.

*- This won't work at jobs where the supervisor is the owner and their temperament and emotional fluctuations can cost employees their jobs at any moment.

Occasionally you'll have a random monster or two waltz in (turned around one time fairly recently to find poor Sturges being suplexed by a Deathclaw for no discernable reason), but compared to places like County Crossing, Finch Farm, Greentop, and Nordhagen, Sanctuary rarely gets attacked.
There's a random encounter node across the river that can spawn everything up to a Deathclaw, though it is rare. Depending on how the NPCs are patrolling it's possible the thing ran across the shallows to reach Sanctuary.

Heavy weapons interest me, but it seems like they just take up too much inventory space and ammo is scarce.
Missiles are fairly common for what they do, though you want a good Legendary effect. If nothing else you can purchase the Party Starter to get 50% more damage against humans.

Big Boy is functionally unique being a Two Shot explosive weapon. This immediately tacks on an extra 400 points of damage without the need for perks. Also, once you get the extra AoE from perks it interacts with the Two Shot effect in such a way to grant an extra bonus to the AoE. This helps the Big Boy clear entire encounters with a single shot.

Heard that letting other characters pick up miniguns might spawn tons, too.
This is also a great tactic once Super Mutants start carrying Miniguns. Kill the one carrying it, then let another mutant pick it up and repeat. Each mutant killed will have 5mm rounds on them after using the weapon in combat.

Don't forget to pick up the Minigun itself. Some people forget that you can claim all unfired ammo in a weapon on an enemy corpse provided that they were in a combat state when killed; so it won't work if they were OHKO assassinated from stealth. E.g. .45 caliber ammo is fairly easy to get in that manner since Submachineguns can have up to 100 shots when equipped with a Drum Magazine.

They do. They function like wearing a Fortify Barter effect in Skyrim, as a separate multiplier that draws from your Charisma and other bonuses. The system caps out at a 20% shift in the other party's favor though: meaning you'll purchase at 120% of true value and sell for 80% of true value.

Oh, there's a nice early game exploit for that, which I'll put behind spoilers for those that don't want to know:
Bedford Station, the site with the ghouls along the railroad tracks, respawns the entirety of the northern building every time you pass through without having to go away for the usual number of days, which should persist so long as you avoid the Underground Railroad stuff further south on the tracks

It's level locked to an early game range, but can still have some nice stuff every time you pass through. This includes some of the junk, from Adhesive in tool chests to to Oil from a Lighter, and First Aid supplies.

Most people find Regi when he still has a Minigun. You have to avoid the west side of the Corvega Auto Plant for quite a few levels to get him to spawn in with a Laser Gatling. Heck, the house he spawns in has boxes of 5mm ammo IIRC; along with an Ushanka Hat and some drinks set up on a metal beam(includes a Quantum).

Yeah, the Hunting/Sniper Rifle is garbage. It COULD have been good if the .50 cal receiver was worth a damn, but instead it just functions as an 'Advanced' receiver. The .50 cal should have had a +100 base damage effect to be worth consideration.

Bethesda does sell a decent rifle separately.... -_-
The Manwell Rifle combines the damage of a Gauss Rifle with the handling mechanics of a Combat Rifle. The suppressed barrel also doesn't drop effective range, as it does with all the vanilla weapons.
