Why can't they port this to or make a sequel for not-3DS?
God I wish

In fairness to not porting it, they'd have to completely change the controls and IIRC a couple levels used 3D pretty heavily so they'd need to modify that. It's all doable but would be extra effort I guess

Now why there's no sequel... good fuckin question

Shout-out to Metroid Other M for being fairly hyped until the story details came out just before/just after release (can't remember the exact timing). I have to imagine like 90% of people who would have bought it noped out, because it dropped to $10 in an absurdly short amount of time, especially for a Nintendo game from a series which barely drops in price at all.

I think the real answer is 76 or NMS though.

Pretty good group, but it's definitely between OG Gumshoe and Shi-Long Lang for me. Tobias Gregson maybe 3rd.

Going with Gumshoe. It really is one of the definitive AA songs as Leon said. I don't think until now I even realized it was Gumshoe's personal theme because I associate it so strongly with the original trilogy as a whole.

I'm not as big on 3-5 as others, but overall the game tells a great overarching story with no low points. It's kind of disappointing that no games in the series have been able to recapture exactly what T&T did
I think Dual Destinies did a good job crafting another overarching narrative, but T&T was just something special. I guess it helped that we already had two games of caring about Phoenix, Mia, and Maya before T&T tried to wrap up their stories. DD's story felt much more self-contained.

The plot itself felt pretty lacking to me, I think in part because of the silent protag. At least the other characters have big personalities to even it out. I thought the writing and humor were both hit-and-miss. I wish it had done more with the in-universe acknowledgement of when/how you used saves because the few times it does are definitely good moments.

This is 79 pages so I didn't read the whole thing (and IANAL so take this with a grain of salt), but it seems like their reasoning is "yes, you need to follow certain guidelines for transactional immunity, and yes, those were not followed here, but idk *shrug* it just seems so unfair"

(and then admittedly they cite precedent but it still seems pretty ambiguous. why even have rules if prosecutors don't have to follow them and can just promise whatever they want?)

Though really the first half is like an 8 and the second half is like a 2. Part of me wonders if playing War of the Lions would improve my impression of it, since right now the bad translation hurts the already awful second half (but arguably helps the first half by giving us raw fucking lines like "Surrender or die in obscurity").

And yeah recruitable characters disappearing from the story after recruitment is a very questionable decision, definitely should have gone the Fire Emblem route and let certain ones (Agrias, at least) get injured and still contribute during cutscenes.

Yeah the scan visor is the best way of handling lore that I've ever seen in a video game, and definitely one of the best parts of the Prime games (particularly after the color-coding was revamped for 3). Can't even quantify how much I prefer that system to, say, looking for audio logs in Bioshock.

HeroDelTiempo17 posted...
If I had to point out flaws of the scan visor it's that there's too many missables with no way to rectify this besides a fresh save file, and not enough visual distinction between flavor and meaningful scans. The other visors I could take or leave, they could be upgrades to the Scan visor or not exist at all as far as I'm concerned.
