Dre had another white guy on his Compton album and nobody cared about that dude. Pretty sure he got dropped. I think his race helped, but I think people like to exaggerate how much to down play his accomplishments. I think he came out at just the right time where his style resonated with people the most and he was also really good on the mic so he actually had the respect of the community.
