The final dialogue scene outright spells it out. The scene right before everything goes to shit has Joel asking Ellie to just go back to Tommy's but she says that they can't be going through all of this for nothing.

She has disdain for Joel because she knows he's lying. That's why she gives him the silent treatment and only a 'Okay' after making him swear that he's telling the truth.

You're making an inference, not an explanation. It was a common acceptance theory at launch that she accepts it because she understands that Joel is lying because the truth isn't something she'd want to know and her acceptance (after a long pause) is her realizing that's okay as long as they can stick together. There's nothing that twists the ending in one explicit direction or another, but there are plenty of clues in the story that Ellie either didn't know what was gonna happen to her or she had desire to be separated from Joel after all they've been through.

No 15 year old will realistically be willing to sacrifice themselves on a "maybe" which is all the Fireflies were offering, c'mon now.

Ellie even asks Joel in Spring what does she think they'll do when they get to the Fireflies and Joel just goes "Probably take some blood, it won't hurt", which relieved her immensely

Any disdain she has for Joel probably comes with her not knowing the full extent of what was happening

weird, physical copies haven't been deleted from existence. If you cared about preserving, you'd be preserving them. If you cared about stealing products you'd want to play but don't think are worth paying for. You'd steal them and go bu-bu-but preservation!!!!

The only big difference between then and now is the successful console launch. Otherwise you have:

-No games (R&C being this year's only big confirmed announcement should be worrying)
-DualSense quality control issues
-allergies to backwards compatibility, something even the original PS3 fully embraced
-An overemphasis on flashy designs and an SSD rather than practical, durable hardware
-An abundance of dead IPs and no new ones in sight
-The CEO being a new releases hypebeast who doesn't care about letting you keep all your games together
-And an overreliance on paid for exclusives to keep people invested

I hope they have a long-term plan because once the stock stabilizes I can see Xbox and Nintendo being closer competitors now that they have great consoles to compete with

That too! He knew lying to her for that long was fucked up and was as contrite as could be while still protecting her, despite getting nothing in return from her. Joel was still a good and selfless dad to her after the lie was exposed. You could say the lie was selfish it probably was. That just makes Joel human, not some maniacal villain that were meant to root for his brains to get bashed in. So many people seem to think the game wanted you to think Abby was pure and Ellie+Joel are evil and to this day I have no idea what game they played.

The ambiguity from the first game's ending is what made it so good and so highly discussed.

Too bad they've now decided that they need to lecture the player and tell them that it was a bad decision after all

IIRC in the training segment she learns the one-inch punch, which IRL is intended to maximize force at such a short distance

So in that sense it's actually one of the most sensible moves she could use to break out of the grave (which wasn't that shallow to begin with and Bill's brother outright told her if she was any good she would probably do it

This is very unfortunate, but I think the bigger issue is that the times when people DID have sensitive info of them exposed, their friends and family clutched pearls, outraged and basically let the hackers win; thats probably why this scam is still so terrifying for many people.

I have literally nothing but concern for RE4Make, even after RE2Make was my favorite game of 2019. Theres almost no way to go but down from RE4 because its that good, RE4 is still on every modern console, and I cant see them doing anything but fucking it up after RE3Make was lackluster

They should be remaking a game that needs it instead of remaking a quality game, like Code Veronica. Same thing with TLOU, it still looks and plays great, why the fuck would you remake it?

Amen, Resident Evil 4 is my favorite game of all time and unless they're willing to fully embrace all the cheesy, nutty stuff that made it so good, it's gonna be the worst of the 3 remakes by far

you can have a good game, and have little to no issue with it, but still feel like it's worth a 7, 8, 9, or whatever; something like a 10, for an individual, might be reserved for something they view as a masterpiece, even if it potentially has flaws. that's why all of that stuff is relative and shouldn't be taken to heart. what's most important is how they justify their scores...if you care about professional reviews, I mean.

anyway, GoT is definitely a good game, but as you go on, there are some notable flaws, IMO, most of which are related to its open-world structure.

the stealth is also bad, due to the enemy's AI.

I played about 10-15 hours before I stopped, but I'll give it another try (from the beginning) since it has been so long.

I blame reviewers mostly for handing out 10/10s like they were candy lately. I prefer 5/5 ratings because you can put GoT and TLOU2 both in the 5/5 scale and it doesn't necessarily mean it's one of the greatest games ever made like 10/10s like to say nowadays, just that they're both in the running for them despite their flaws
