Americans are more indoctrinated than educated, and many of them subconsciously know better... but delusions of grandeur, low self-esteem and a desperate need for validation are passed down as heritage and tradition. lack of accountability is also a ingrained in these cultures. if you can get a large amount of a people to willingly kill and die for reasons that contradict everything they claimed to believe just because they're bitter and want to be part of a team, that's a pretty good candidate for "nation of dummies." maybe not 100% of them but enough to dictate the direction of it's society. there's that old "might is right" bully mentality.
