Zachnorn 05/28/21 12:20:25 PM #8 | Nanis23 posted... I looked at BYND when it was 102 a few days ago and wanted to get in Impossible and Tyson and others are making it hard to like the stock, I agree. On the plus side though, they are expanding product lines and going to other markets. I believe they're doing meatless chicken in China for KFC, some more products in Walmart in the US, and some other cool stuff. But with the talk of an IPO for Impossible, it's not exactly a safe stock. I'm probably going to sell some of my position while it's still elevated due to hype, even though it would still be a heavy loss for me. greengravy294 posted... Honestly with this trend I think the actual smart idea is to wait a few weeks when shit dies down and buy back in low and wait for the next surge. Then just sell off. If there's one thing I know it's that internet people are persistent. Meme stocks aren't going away. At least in the short term. This strategy has worked for me with AMC. That's why I've been a serious investor in it since February, in small amounts due to the risk. I only wish I bought more. --- <D |

Zachnorn 05/20/21 10:28:53 AM #384 | Sold off my Viacom stock for a decent profit before the stock went down. Didn't sell it at the peak, but not that far from it. Nice. Now I'm looking to reduce other short term positions. Though I'm now faced with an interesting issue. My biggest problem with getting a mortgage loan is that I don't have the income. Losses reported to the IRS reduce my income to reduce taxes. I'm considering holding my losing stocks now and only selling my gains, even rapidly, to get my adjusted gross income higher. Once I have a home, then I can sell my losers and get a better tax refund as my income won't matter. How risky of a play is this? My unrealized losses are only about $700, but as someone on the edge of being priced out, this can matter. --- <D |

I have a long term Roth IRA that I'm having buy and hold during red days. I may set up a taxable account to do the same and just load it with ETFs. Once I had a dream telling me to buy MGM and I did and made good money. My dream last night told me that it's going to be a bad day. But despite how much money I'll lose, I'm still okay financially because of the cash that I still have. I might as well hold. And not worry about it. My stock portfolio dropped to its lowest level. The crypto I bought in the dip fell 36% overnight. It's a very bad day for me. And the market hasn't opened yet. Just want to say for anyone that might have a bad day: don't panic. You might want to take a break from things today or maybe buy more if you're feeling bullish. --- <D |

Zachnorn 05/18/21 5:42:09 PM #298 | I think there are some gains to be had. I just think we're seeing instability. The fears of a crash can become a self-fulfilling prophecy as well. Seems like there's a lot of talk about it on Yahoo Finance, Motley Fool, and YouTube. I have $14k in stocks but I wouldn't put the rest of my life savings in it for now, and I'm taking my money out of growth stocks. Zachnorn 05/17/21 12:14:14 PM #259 | And to address this: Lopen posted... Don't invest funds you'll expect to need to liquidate It depends on how much cash you have as well. I'm looking into commodities, real estate, and even collectibles because inflation is here and could get pretty bad. I consider savings accounts to be an investment as well (just a depreciating one), and that's where two thirds of my money is. Inflation eats that and if I expect inflation to go up, then that's a big problem. We're at a point where, to protect your earnings, you have to put risk into things. I really wish I could invest in real estate for myself though. That's the safest investment. --- <D |

They consider me low income and it's next to impossible for me to buy a one bedroom condo here. Think 60k is good income? In most places, it is. In LA, it won't buy you that much. Company stocks are risky. So far, I've made money on ETFs and lost it on companies. Only a few of my company picks have been good: AMC, ACI, and T. The only ETF I actually lost money on was QQQJ and that's because it's volatile and I sold most of it for gains already. For a time, I also lost money on QQQ, bought the dip, and made good money from successfully timing the market to sell near the top.
