I've heard the same general excuse for healthcare when comparing the USA to other much smaller countries.

I get that closing the borders is not a popular opinion and it won't solve all of the issues, but it would have made a whole lot of sense at least a few times in the last couple years. At a minimum, everyone going in and out of the border should be forced to quarantine for 14 days or so.

Want to get serious about Corona? Close the borders. Stop letting people travel in/out of the country.

Yes, we will have shortages on goods/items. We can start making them here again. Invest in our country instead of others and focus on ourselves. It will be painful for a few years, we will have to spend more money on some goods, but it will level out in the end and be good for the country as a whole.

Not just Canada. I know a few boomers from England who are obsessed with Diana. Every one of them also happen to be gay people in the entertainment industry - so I just assumed it was because of those two traits and not necessarily a boomer thing.

I could never use this site without the block feature. Imagine seeing the Full Throttle posts or many of the other garbage clogging up the stream. I dont know how some of you can stand it.

I'm not sure if I'm interested in these. FFII and FFIII never got those localizations, and I already own the NES version of FFI (plus Peninsula of Power got fixed).

Yes, I'm reading through some reviews and I see the Hall of Giants, Wizards @ crown, and Peninsula of Power were all 'fixed'. Disappointing to see.

Well, so far Final Fantasy 3 is pretty sweet. I think it is the definitive version of this game. I only have two real complaints: (1) the font is awful (2) the magic spell names aren't Fire1, Fire2, Fire3 anymore but some other names that are harder to remember.

The bright spot is they kept the original magic system (not the lame MP stat every other RPG has). I have to check and see if they kept the original magic system for FF1. If so, there may finally be a better version of the NES game.

All in all, SquareEnix may have finally done proper remakes of the pixel games!

Edit: Looks like FF1 kept the magic system as well. I'll have to give it a go.

I've had employment since I was 14.

I finished it when I was like 7 without a guide. Unless you are counting the original documentation that came with it as a guide.

Utility vs Risk is exactly right. Sure, I could get away with using something more primitive like a Bow and Arrow, but why would I do that if I can have a firearm? (Like why would I ride a bike 20 miles to work if I can own an automobile).

While you may not like to admit it, there is utility in owning a firearm. (maybe not in cities, but certainly in rural areas)

I'm biased, but I lived with my wife before marriage to the point that the marriage ceremony was just a formality.

But in the original, there's literally only three people who know (it's explicitly spelled out in the opening credits), and two of those knew before he even became He-Man because of an ancient prophecy. And the third was there at the time he first became He-Man. Adam didn't even tell his parents he was He-Man.

This, people are upset their half hour toy commercial doesn't have enough buff semi naked man beating on buff skeleton man.

Watched the first episode, enjoyed it for what is is, going to watch the second episode.

The show was marketed as 'He-Man', you look at all of the posters and they have He-Man and Skeletor looking just like they did originally with a crisp art style that pays homage to the original style. The trailer for the show has nearly every character from the original series and has He-Man and Skeletor fighting each other. Even pulling the show up on Netflix and Rotten Tomatoes shows a picture of Adam or He-Man.

The script leaks out, rumors circulate that the show is a bait-and-switch and not about He-Man at all, and Kevin Smith doubles down saying the rumors aren't true the show is ALL about He-Man. The show comes out and it turns out the rumors are true which just upsets people more.

It was like Kevin Smith was totally trolling everyone.

Didn't see the first one because zero interest. Won't see the second for the same reason.

Just finished Ted Lasso which was great. New season starts soon, but I'll wait until it is all out to watch season 2.

I'm not about to hold the original up as some god-tier art form, but the initial trailer was everything you could dream of (apart from the odd song). The character art was nearly perfect to the original and it looked like something may have been remade correctly. Most of the first episode wasn't bad, but the last 5 minutes or so were just awful and the second episode seemed to distance itself as much as possible from the first.

Teela is just terrible as well. In the original series she was optimistic and adventuresome. In this new series she seems to just be bitter and angry. It is eerily similar to how they made Luke Skywalker in the sequel series vs Luke in the original trilogy. It just doesn't fit at all.

The whole Teela thing at the end of the first episode was just awful and the 2nd episode started with characters I care nothing about. Total bait-and-switch act. No wonder He-Man's name isn't in the title.

I just checked our local forecast. We haven't even hit 80 for the last three days. We have two or three weeks of August predicted to be under 80, and not a single forecast 90 degree day in the next month. This is truly the 'coldest' summer I can recall in the last 10-20 years.

This has been an incredibly mild summer. I think we've only seen like 6 or 7 days at 90 or above. (in 2012 it was 32) It's been very pleasant here.

The obvious were mentioned. Blazing Saddles, Python and the Holy Grail on the movie side. Maybe add Young Frankenstein.

As far as shows, I loved Get Smart, Fawlty Towers, Carol Burnett show, The Muppet Show (aired in the 80s, though) and Python's flying circus.

I rarely see masks anymore. It's been a couple of weeks.

I don't even know where mine is anymore. If we had to start wearing one again, I'd have to buy/make a new one.

I get soooo sick of hearing about Kaepernick. He was on the downslide and not a very good player when everything happened. However, everyone seems to think he was better than half the league which he was not. If you aren't a very good player and you have a circus side-show teams aren't going to want you. (see also other players on the downside of their careers like Tim Tebow, Plaxico Burris, Terrell Owens, Chad Johnson, etc.)

Never had the issues you describe - but I suppose it all comes down to how you use it.

Zero need/interest in any PS/Xbox consoles. Between Switch and PC, I can play anything I want. I can't think a case where I said 'I wish I could play that, but I don't have access to it with my console'.
