The Governor of New York is going to either resign or be removed after significant sexual violations of his own, yet his PR spin somehow managed to be even worse.

The bulk of his defense was to show a montage that clearly depicts the message of.. "I sexually harass everyone, not just women. I've been doing it for years! We're cool now, right?"

Like he somehow screwed the pooch so much worse than Blizzard did.

This probably explains why the BD2 price has already tanked from secondhand sellers.

The first game wields a good but too roundabout narrative that has holes but it works. It's engaging enough, and extra places like the Vampire Castle give the world more flesh. It gets to be a bit too much stalling by the end of it. Many of the bosses are far too formulaic, wasting the interesting battle system, and scaling creeps in as an issue right at the end. The second to last boss is significantly stronger than anything you've faced up to that point, and the final boss is significantly stronger than that, so you can get hard walled at the last second. It's still worth the play because the story nd background are enough to keep you pulled and the gameplay is interesting, but it's undeniably flawed. I figured out who the villain was very early, though.

Bravely Second isn't bad, but it's a pale shadow of the first. I don't hate Yew, but it feels like they gave him a lot of Tiz's qualities all pushed to the wrong direction. Yew and Magnolia are weaker characters overall, and the story just doesn't have the intrigue or the life of the first. The first game built as you went spot A to spot B, but this one remains pretty stagnant for a lot of it. Yoko doesn't adequately replace characters like Yulyana or DeRosso in the background to really add to it, and it notably hurts. Many of the villains do not have properly explained motives for their actions, and you get a weak plot twist with a hint of foreshadowing that makes you see it coming. Chapter 5 was an interesting concept, but they barely even tried and it just felt like adding artificial length. At least the first game added to the story when it added this length. This game simply wasn't created with the same effort as the first, was made to ride on the effort put into the first, and it shows because I got it secondhand for like $14. I can't say it was a terrible investment at such a low amount though. The game is still "ok". It just won't pull you like the first one does. Some of the sidequests aren't bad, and some are "why are you putting me through this nonsense". Looking st you, sidequest 5.

LGBTQ rights are supported by the majority of our population. Corporations, seeing this as a chance to appeal to that majority as potential consumers, go all-out during pride month with flashy displays of support (rainbow flags on social media and whatnot) to let consumers know that they're the "good guys". I don't know exactly how effective it is, but Americans are pretty fucking gullible and naive with regards to marketing. But that's how you can have a dissonance between a corporation supporting LGBTQ rights while simultaneously being extreme assholes on multiple other levels.
I think a lot of it depends on how public facing the corporation is. When I worked at Macy's, it was openly LGBTQ friendly in the stores. Dealing with tens of millions of people a day will do that.

I couldn't tell you anything about how corporate may have been, though.

Japan's own people are against it because they've failed so badly with vaccines compared to other major countries, Covid is already rampant in the Olympic village, and four sponsors have dropped out over the past 48 hours.

This will probably be the first Olympics of my lifetime I just don't watch any of. It feels so wildly uncomfortable. I suspect though that ratings will be abysmal. The ratings for most sports have gone down in the past year and the public perception of this Olympics is awful.

I'm in the same boat, but I did it with the Switch OLED because I never picked up a normal one after waiting for the inevitable upgrade, and not preordering it now probably meant not getting it for an entire year or more.

So like, extreme circumstances are the only reason that could compel me to consider a pre-order. I've been buying up a Switch library at $30-$40 a game as opposed to the $60 they used to be. I did the exact same thing with the 3ds... Waited for the 3DS XL and then bought up a bunch of games at $15-25. The difference was it wasn't going to be an immediate, permanent sellout like this one.

Pre-ordering just seems like a way to burn money to get a product a little bit faster, but the Switch itself never goes on sale anyway. Like, everyone's Black Friday "doorbuster" every year.. Is just a Switch at it's full, everyday price.

What? lol comparable devices with worse specs go for $1000, why are you comparing this to like a Retroid in price?
Because it has no set purpose to me outside of being a novelty.. It just lets me combine my PC backlog with my not PC backlog. The pricetag for that feels asininely high to the point where I can't even seriously consider a purchase.

My bet is that this is the kind of thing a small hardcore base will buy early, and then the sales will crash down hard and never recover.

I agree that, for the level of tech, it's probably worth $399. I just highly suspect most people won't consider it worth $399 to them. I gave the pricepoint I'd personally consider buying it at, and it's around 1/4-1/3 of the base asking price.

From my perspective I'm not really considering it as a Switch replacement
This is precisely why I think it's going to fail. It's directly competing with a system that's both cheaper and actually grants users access to unique things they otherwise wouldn't have.

I gave it some thought earlier and came to the conclusion that I might buy something like this in the $99-149 range - but at $399 as a base price, when you also need to add additional components? Not a chance. That's an incredible price for something that is ultimately closer to a "nice novelty to have" than anything truly remarkable, that will probably be going obsolete within 2 years when there are already an entire plethora of games it can't handle.

The only real selling point this could've had was as a cheaper Switch alternative, and it's... Not. It's a more expensive product that brings less to the table and is made by a company with a shaky history of physical products. What's worse is, I don't think it's even possible for them to sell it for low enough to actually get the interest of most gamers. I like the concept, but unfortunately I think this is going to bomb disastrously.

An interesting product, but there's two things that hold it back for me.

I already have a 3ds and a Switch backlog to go through when I'm not on PC. This is $399 just to take my Steam backlog off my laptop when Steam is the primary thing I do when gaming on my laptop. As a concept it's interesting, but it feels especially needless at that pricetag.

The second thing is the technology. PC Gaming ramps up very fast. Can I actually trust this device to be able to play games made 2-3 years from now? Can I trust it to play intensive games without overheating to oblivion now?

It's kind of what I figured. They can produce it cheaper and charge more for it. Mid-generation "upgrades" seem to be the new normal though. They'll leverage plenty of existing Switch owners into buying the new one. Modern gaming is kind of a sham.

I expect a $400 pricetag since it is an upgrade. The only 3ds I've ever owned was New 3DS XL. I can make this the only Switch.
